SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Nov 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Nov 11, 2016 2:47 am

It IS Friday, isn't it? I've kind of lost track!

The last day or tow Jim has been agitated, which is a sign that the end might be near. For his sake, I pray it's soon. He can't speak enough to understand, and I can see that frustrates him. He can't hear or see well, either. I just sat next to him with my hand resting lightly on his arm yesterday for the better part of an hour, speaking softly of anything that came to mind. Human touch can be very comforting. We did get a bit of a half-smile from him once or twice

So - not many split pea soup takers in our bunch! Even our "lurkers" had to weigh in on that! haha!! More for me!

BECCA - hoping they catch that arsonist soon. I think arsonists should also face attempted murder charges as well as all the other charges because people could so easily die as a result of their terrible crimes.

MARY Q - Welcome! OK, so no split pea soup for you. And knowing your stance on veggies, I'm guessing veggie soup isn't on your list of hits either. More like your hit list! lol!

CHICKIE - Your DH is the only man I've ever met who doesn't like brown gravy. Especially since he's such carnivore! I always thought men considered most foods as merely carrying agents for the gravy! lol!

LOIS - my hubby told me when we got married that he didn't really care much for pea soup, but since it's my favorite I made it one time and he had an experimental bowl. And he loved it! I don't know if I make it differently than his mom or if his tastes changed.

JANA - I bet Crenda learned early on about that soup! I think pizza will be making an appearance at our house pretty soon, too.

TINA - I can never tell the difference between an enchilada and a burrito. My sis, who used to wait tables in a Mexican restaurant said it's mostly the sauce. What do you say?

That being said, tonite we plan to go to the Mexican restaurant for Happy Hour Natchos. My sis and BIL planned it. It will be nice not to have to cook.

What's going on your table tonite?

Hello everyone,

Maryz There is a Can of split pea with ham sitting in my pantry.DH will eat it but NOT me.And yes I have tried it.
Sad to hear about Jim .Know it is so hard to see.May God be merciful to him.
Maryz The smoke here is solid. You can see maybe 250 ft .Its unreal if you have never seen it I dreamed last nite it was raining.Just what we need & for the one to be caught that is doing this. Its like pea soup.lol

Chickie My bags are packed .Your brunches sound delish. No wonder the hunters want to stay there.Your B& B would be a hit.
Did the gizmo help? Sure hope so.It did help my BF.

Irish Hope the luncheon goes smooth & Jim is cooperative.

Jana Your story is funny.I too would have ate it .Sure DS put in a word to your DDIL.

Tina Glad to see you even if it's a run in.

Things are still wait & watch.DH isn't being cooperative. He wants to stay. I let DS know last night so I have support. He will come to get us if needed. One day he's fine ,next day changed. The mind is a funny thing.
I made chicken salad yesterday.Still Have potato soup for me.Will add butter beans.
Have a great day to all. Becca

Good Morning!
I am making progress getting well. I sure haven't been eating a lot, so I haven't been cooking. I think tonight will be Stuffed Pepper Casserole.

Becca - I hope you get rain and do not need to evacuate! Remember, the air quality isn't good when you can't see 250 feet and it might be better to leave than stay.

Maryz - Such a sad watch you are keeping! Prayers are with you. (Add me to those who do not like split pea soup!) We have even eaten eaten at Pea Soup Andersons in Buelton, CA.

Chickie - Your brunches sound delicious. If the hunters are cooks remember they like good food. If they cooked it they might do something different, but they still like good food. Sounds like you are doing a great job!!

Jana- Hope Stu makes it home quickly to get his hand treated. It seems like a long time since it was injured and he needs treatment soon.

Irish - Sounds like you are getting out a little and you are back cooking things too. Life is an adventure.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello! I’m waiting/holding breakfast for the guys. They told me 9:30, now it’s after 10… MEN!!!

I’m the one who LOVES gravy at our house. It’s funny. I know, crazy that DH doesn’t like brown gravy—only guy I know, too.

Mary—HUGS! The wait is awful. Wish I were going for nachos with you! And a ‘rita!

Becca—come on over! Breakfast/brunch is probably my best cooking meals. I could eat breakfast food for dinner, but it doesn’t fly often here. What an ordeal to be on the fire watch! HUGS!!! I’m a huge fan of butter beans—DH, not!

They arrived. Another breakfast for the books! Blueberry muffins, cheesy eggs, sausage links and fresh fruit cups.

Dinner tonight is Chicken Annie’s. A whole group is going with all the hunters.

I’ve been using the “gizmo” (foot drum). It’s amazing! I’m having so much less pain. Who would have thought??? Thank you, Mary!!! In fact, when I get everything cleaned up here, the Hooligans and I are going for a walk. Banks are closed today, so Ava isn’t on the schedule. I might take my hiking stick and go through the pastures.

Carol—one of the guys owns a restaurant and is also a chef (with an executive chef as well), and the other one does all the cooking at his house. They are both accomplished cooks, but they are enjoying my fare. One of them takes a photo every morning… too cute!!!

Well, I MUST clean up my mess and get going here. After walking, I want to get in a little sewing time.

Have a great day! Bon appétit!

Mary, an enchilada is made with corn tortillas and has a more soupy type sauce and burritos are made with flour tortillas and then your meat and cheese and filling and salsa rolled up inside, sometimes they can be smothered and if they are it's usually enchilada sauce that they are smothered in :)
Becca, I'm sorry your DH isn't doing very good.
Carol, I hope you get all better soon!
Chickie, I'm so glad you're getting relieve with your foot!
I'm not sure what I'm making for supper yet, maybe leftover beans

Rosebuds' s DH passed away last night. If anyone wants to send her a card and need her address just pm me and I'll get it to you.

Tina
