SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Oct 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Oct 03, 2016 3:51 am

Good Morning!

How was everyone's weekend? I didn't do much - played some in my sewing room, washed clothes, played ball with my Jim's dog, Mick (Scottie isn't big into sports), helped Bill design storage compartments in the front bin of our trailer for the generators, camp stove, roll-out 'lawn', lantern, propane heater, chairs, etc., and visited Jim. That was the entire weekend.

Jim is getting Physical & Occupational Therapy, plus also improving from his surgery a week ago. So he is looking better, able to sit up in wheelchair for a few hours at a time now and he was very happy to be able to take 4 steps.

Today my sis comes home from Seattle - with MY CAR! I will goof off in my sewing room until she gets home and maybe this afternoon she and I will go on our of our thriftshop outings. And there happens to be an LQS next door to Goodwill in Port Orchard. I may have to make a stop there . . . . Just to say hi, you know.

IRISH - I saw Cari's wedding portrait on FB. She is so pretty and looks so sweet! Wonder where she gets that! I also saw Terry's corn Maze for Old People. Bop him one for me, would you! lol!!

CHICKIE - I worked in a care facility before I went to NICU and we had a resident cat. And we always encouraged people to bring in pets. We used to take Snickers when we visited Bill's mom. Like you and Dusty, we visited our way down the hall. Everyone loved him. Everyone but Bill's Mom. She would wrinkle her nose and say, "Oh, you brought that dog." It was a 200-mile round trip and we went often. What we were supposed to do with him?

BECCA - we miss you and hope you'll be able to join us again before long!

CAROL - my DD doesn't like onions either. She made us a casserole once 19 years ago when I had surgery. she put onion in it and said it was the first and only onion that had ever been in her house. lol! Me? I love onions in everything and even just fried up as a side dish. did you know there is more sugar in an onion than in a sugar beet?

TINA - I know you are busy with babysitting, parents' real estate, parents' doctors, doctors of your own, big family gathering, and sorting out swap blocks. I hope you're eating well!

JANA - I saw they were getting ready for footings and foundation on the kids' house! Will be fun to watch the progress. How far away from you will they be?

I made a big pot of chicken noodle soup last night, expecting my sis to be back for supper. So we have that left over. Plus I'll make some parmesan bread, I think, to have with it.

What's going on your plate/bowl tonite? and keep in mind, Cheerios is a viable option! lol!

Good morning :) I'm on vacation this week, woohoo! And I'm hoping to do me things, not worry about too many uglies and just do what I want to do. One of those things is working on my Sue and Same :) I also have Dr's appointments 3 days this week. Were having very nice cool evenings and mornings, I'm still having to turn our cooler on for a few hours in the day time. We've been eating good and last night finished off the leftovers from when everyone was here. I appliqued a 1 and a cookie monster on a onsie for Preston yesterday, oh and ribbon for suspenders LOL it looks cute! He turns one on Sunday but they're havinghhis party Saturday :)
I've gotta look in the freezer to see what we'll be having for supper tonight.

Irish, your granddaughter is beautiful! I hope you enjoyed the wedding and didn't worry too much about Jim.
Becca, I hope you're recovering.
Carole, I hope your tree survives.
Jana, I know you've been enjoying your family :)
Chickie, your hooligans are great!

I am here, I am here. Didn't show up over the weekend because we had the forbidden food, and I know how MaryZ gets upset and I was afraid. Lol. I was so busy working on the house after being away for four months

Our fruit trees made it! Who Hoo, we came home just in time to find the problem and hand water the trees until we could get someone here to fix the watering system. It was a valve.

Tonight, we are meeting friends at our favorite Mexican restraunt. So no cooking here in this house.

Tina, let me know what the doctors say. I am truly concerned about you my dear

Off to start my cleaning

Good early afternoon from sunny but slightly chilly, BUT gorgeous SW. Pa....There are lots of things our state is noted for but I think the biggest is our gorgeous leaves in the fall and they are turning...Traveling on the turnpike this weekend, you could see the reds and golds already on some of the trees.....

I think I'm glad to be back, mostly to get Jim back home...But, would you believe, when I went to get him, we couldn't find him, he was in another hall visiting someone....He got in the car and it was non stop chatter...Loved all the nurses etc., and said, they all smiled so much and told me how much he liked their mashed potatoes....He got lots of hugs and I'm sure he thought that was special.....

AND our wedding was probably the nicest wedding I've ever been to and it's not because Cari is my grand daughter..The whole wedding, reception and then breakfast on Sunday couldn't have been better....The minister was a gal friend from high school who had just gotten her degree and this was her 1st wedding...Cari had her Mom walk her in and the only hitch was, the best man forgot the rings and had to run out and retrieve them...I was so proud of myself, got through the blessing without a tear but had everyone else pulling out tissues....One really neat thing, they had set up 12 tables of 10 and on each table had a bottle of wine with your table # on it...Also on the bottle was a label that everyone at that table was to write a little note and sign it...We were at table 1 and on Cari and Matt's 1 month anniversary, they will open that bottle and so on for the year...Her cake was made of cupcakes with a little cake at the top for them to cut...AND on the top, the girl figure had a Penguin shirt on and the fellow had a Atlantic Falcone shirt....Just so many little things made it all so very special....The venue was called Harmony Hall in Middletown, Pa. and even with rain, it was still magical...Most everyone had stayed at the same hotel so we all got together for breakfast and it was like another reception in different clothes....Even Cari and Matt were there and she wore her bride Tshirt....The cookies were a big hit and, I brought the left over goodies back to the where Jim was staying...Figured those nurses needed some snacks.....
So, we are all settled back at home and I think both of us had a good weekend.......

Sorry I wrote a novel and didn't chat with each of you...I'm still so pumped up, could go on and on.....

Not sure what our dinner will be but surprisingly I did ask Jim what he'd like for lunch and he said, what every I wanted to make...Normally, he'd say, he didn't want anything....I might thaw out some chicken...

You all have a great day.....If you can, check out my FB (Dorothy McHugh) page and see my gorgeous grand daughter....

Happy eating...................

Hi everyone. I am so "hit and miss", I know. But so many times I get on the computer at 6:00 in the morning and then don't get back on again until after dinner or the next morning. I love to read all the post and the delicious meals you all come up with.

Tonight, I actually have a dinner planned. I bought a small chunk of ham and plan to do a potato and salad and vegi. The whole balanced meal. Wow, we have had so many quick meals and left overs, it's nice to plan a whole meal for a change.

Bought groceries today and have some potato soup coming up and turkey burgers, spaghetti and a few other yummy things.

Well, soon be time to go start cooking.

Irishgram: Oh how I loved the wedding story! Sounds so perfect!. Glad that Jim enjoyed his visit at the care center, too. Made it all the more perfect.

Howdy! I’m trying to get here before dinner instead of after dinner today.

Mary—great news about Jim! He’s an amazing fighter. Odie used to play soccer with me, and he still does if he’s in the mood. I need to get him another ball. Tinker Bell and Boomer romp with each other. That’s funny about all the people liking Snickers except Bill’s Mom. My mom didn’t really like Odie the first several times, but she finally got used to him.

Irish—sounds like Jim enjoyed his “spa” weekend. That’s got to make you feel so good!!! The wedding sounds so special!!! How nice of you to share goodies with Jim’s staff.

Tina—that’s a lot of doctor appointments. Best wishes to you!!!

Carole—great news that your trees survived! I wish we could grow citrus here… and avocados! I’ll join you for Mexican!

Tonight… Hummmm… maybe fajitas. Carole has me craving Mexican… Enjoy!

Good evening!

We had a long traipse this afternoon. Needed to go to the wall that spits money, many of you call it the ATM. Then to Lowes to get a couple of more fittings to extend the downspout drain further from the house and to the grocery store. We hade minestone soup - copycat recipe from Olive Garden. Turned out yummy. Now i have hit the proverbial brick wall and i am de-hausted, as Daniel would say.

Irish - so happy to read about the wedding. Glad that there was only the one glitch. I am sure that Jim charmed all the staff! But it is so good to have him back home with you. I will get Sarah to go to FB so i can see the photos.

Mary - hopefully your car made it home safe. We have driven I-5 during rush hour in Seattle several times, not fun! Our little critters are so darn smart and pick up on everything! Little puppy dog will be a great boost to Jim's care. The kids house is about 10 minutes from us, halfway between us and Matt's house. It will be so good for them as Kate's parents live over towards Matt as well.

Well, its late, see ya in the morning, earky i hope,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening Everyone!
I came on here earlier and read the wonderful story of the wedding and how much Jim charmed the nurses. Sounds like everyone had a great time.

Maryz - Read how much Jim appreciated his dog too. Bet you will be glad to get the car back and go thrift shopping.

Tina - I love shopping in my freezer!

Jana - Sounds like you had a busy day and a great soup! Minestrone is one of my favorites!

Carole - Glad the fruit trees made it.

Irish - Glad everything worked out!

Tonight was Parmesan Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli and a salad.

Sleep Well Everyone!
Carol
