daily devotion 9/23

A well-known verse and often seen in many places; yet not always truly followed. I can remember doing soul winning visitations with my past church and you would come up to a home and there was that plaque with this verse on it and sure enough--beer bottles would be all over the table. You could hear the chaos of cursing and yelling in the home. We would present the gospel and most would say I have a church; I always wanted to respond yeah but do you ever visit it.

We can post all the "religious" icons we want around our home, office, or even on our car. But it's how we truly act that gives the true perception to people. It's like the old saying "if its a duck it will quack like a duck".

May you represent the LORD both in and out! Don't hide behind a religious icon if you truly don't abide or follow it.

God Bless
Izzy

Oh, how i remember this verse. I was raised with it as the family motto. Everytime i wanted to do something as a teenager, my mom would question me with this verse, and ask, does your activity fit in with the Lord's way? I learned to make right choices from a small child. I continued to teach my children in the same manner. I too strive to be that duck! But, at times, there are many when i fall short, i use the gift of the atonement and repentance.

I have been taught in a lesson, that children are influenced by a picture they see as they leave the home for the day. The Temple is the House of the Lord, so as they left our home, they saw a picture of the Oakland Temple. It is a special place in our hearts, in being the House of the Lord and where we eere married. It hangs here too. We are blessed to live nearby and see two of the many temples that are built from our home.

Izzy, thanks for the daily devotions. They always are thought provoking. And the pictures tie in so well with the verse.

This pic reminds us that our life is full of "forks in the road". We need God's guidance to choose the right one. Your devotion always starts my day and reminds me to take God with me where ever I go.

Your little devotional ministry reaches so many people. I don't always post but I do read daily. I am sure lots of folks read this like I do, and thank God for daily blessings like this.

God bless you and your family and your church. Hugs, Shirley Mae
