SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Aug 21st
Good Morning!
It's COOLER!! Whew! We PNWers don't deal with heat too well. Hardly anyone has A/C because we rarely need it. Today we are dropping 20*. I can dig that!! Yesterday in the Shipyard, we had to wait an hour in a VERY long line just to get in. I was cooking! But it was fun to see where 'the boys' work. MY SIL, after 30 years, is a big boss. He even has his picture on the wall in a long line of bosses. He had to go buy a suit just for that photo! lol! But to me, he's still that 16 yo kid who played Ninja in the woods! (I've known my SIL since he was 9 yrs old.)
CHICKIE - so sorry to hear about the loss in your DDIL's family. You really whipped those pies out quickly! I know they were much appreciated. My dad was kind of like your mom. I did everything for him and when my two Colorado sisters were coming to visit, I cleaned his house, scrubbed his toilet, and grocery shopped for him. (on top of all the other stuff I did day to day!) When the girls came, he more or less kicked me out of the house so he could make them a nice dinner and visit. And that was my Daddy.
CAROL - how did your retina appt go? Frozen dinners have come so far from their early days, haven't they. And so handy for those days when cooking is just out of the question!
BECCA - I am surprised, too, that your DB's dr didn't find the ca. Had your brother been going to him with complaints of symptoms? I'm glad he has a better doctor now. And it's good for both of your brothers to be together through this.
MY DB has been stiff and sore since his fall last Monday but finally is feeling well enough that they can leave today on their delayed trip to Rushmore, seeing family and friends along the way. So we are having breakfast with them this morning to see them off. Traveling is hard on him, but I think life at home is even harder as he wants to be outside doing things all the time and that's when he falls. And he needs to stay quiet for a few months to let his stress fracture heal.
Dinner tonite will be the ravioli I'd planned for last night. We ended up eating at Red Robin after the Shipyard tour. Our other grandson works there so we got to see him for a few minutes, too.
Now I'm off to shower! Have a terrific day, y'all!

Good morning,
No one ever skips a meal in this house! Dinner is either chicken on the bbq or a pork chop on the bbq - which ever Aaron decides on. He is getting into being a bbq grill master, so when he is off, the grill is on.
Mary - what fun to see their work stations. We are in the same boat with Matt's job. The company lets the families come once every five years too. Matt had to clean off his desk and erase all the white boards. It was a very sanitized tour! You can't be to careful with national security!
Becca - prayers for your brother and you too!
Sarah and I will be getting busy making a new dress for her for her party in two weeks. We finally, well maybe, decided on the food - a baked potato bar with trimmings. Will cheat and use Costco' cheesecakes and other goodies for dessert. We are expecting about 40 to 50 people. Better not rain! We are in my backyard for that many.
Time to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Aug 21st
Good Morning Everyone,
I should be grocery shopping right now. Tonight I am roasting a chicken breast. Think I will make potato salad and have a vegetable.
My Retina appointment went well. It looked a little better in the pictures. Becca - I had a retina vein occlusion in Dec. 2008 and have been getting shots more or less every month since. So it is not the same as what has happened to your eyes.
Mary - Glad it is cooler and you got to the shipyard. Enjoy the time with your DB. Sounds like an awesome trip he is taking. Where are you going?
Becca - Your ribs sound good. I never get those, but they sound good.
I need to go grocery shopping. Have a great day everyone!
