How to make make a barn quilt size from one quilt block enlarged
Meaning I want info on how to take one classic quilt block and make a big quilt using just one quilt block enlarged. I was able to do a log cabin one by just continuing to add strips until the one big block grew to a 60x 60" quilt. Any suggestions on how to do do something other then a log cabin design?

Hello Aostrin,
Sorry cannot be of any help. I have never tried that before. But, may I suggest you to post your request in the "Quilting Techniques Discussion". There are many quilters checking that section and you will get answers to your question.

I know there are big block quilt books. I'll bet there are quilt tutorials online. It would be a matter of math... a simpler block would be easier although I know you could do others.
If you are using a 9-patch based block (9 basic sections even if they are pieced), take the size quilt you want to make and divide it by 3. That gives the size you want to make one section. A 16-patch base would be divided by 4 to give the size of each section. I would keep my outside measurement easily divisible by the first number and not deal in partial inches here...
If you want to PM me, I will try to help you.
