SUPPER CLUB - thursday, July 28
Good Morning!
Can you believe July is almost over? This morning their is a bit of crispness in the air. and I saw a few golden leaves falling this week.
We didn't go to neighbor, Vicki's, psych evaluation. It never happened. Facility knew nothing about it. And it was a PSYCH eval . . . Oh well.
sorry I'm late today. I was here earlier, but got pulled away and just now am back. Whew! Busy morning!
CHICKIE - I hope We-know-who didn't get into your supper makin's! I'm still picking berries. I have 5 packages frozen now, 6 cups each - what I need for pies/crisps/cobblers. I don't need any more but can't resist those beautiful berries hanging there as I walk by. I think of you with each pluck of a berry! Hardly any chiggers or snakes either!
JANA - I hope things don't get that bad with Vicki, but she is being discharged to home on Saturday and family refuses to stay with her and care for her any longer because she refuses to take her Huntingtons meds. Her "best friends", who haven't had any contact with her for 15 years but suddenly crawled out of the woodwork 2 months ago, talked her into not only refusing her meds, but giving them power of attorney! What a mess it all is now and we feel caught in the middle and fear we're going to get sucked in.
IRiSH - Personally, I could live on potatoes, being the good Irish girl that I am. However, maybe Jim needs more nutrition. I wonder if you could hide things in mashed potatoes. And if you topped bakers with cheese, broccoli, hamburger/chili, etc, would he eat that? Do you have a nutritionist in your area you could consult? So glad Terry is coming! I'm sure he brings a sense of relief to you, at least for the days that he is there.
BECCA - I remember now, you mentioned a few weeks ago that your DH was having those two procedures done. Poor guy! Prayers for good results! I've been doing my walk at 7:15 this week. Too warm later in the morning - even here. My neighbor across the road, Lori, and I walk together - 2 miles most days. And for past two weeks we've been picking blackberries on our way back.
TINA - I know your mom's procedure has been postponed until tomorrow, so I'll be sending good thoughts towards NM!!
Tonite will be grilled chicken, smashed red potatoes, and salad. And as we have all week long, we'll be dining "al fresco" - out on the deck near the fountain.
That's MY plan. Now what about yours?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - thursday, July 28
Good afternoon! We are overcast and STEAMY! Around 11 a.m., a cool front and shower came through (trace in the rain gauge). The temperature dropped to 78. An hour later, we were 89 with a heat index of 105—steam and sun! Now we are overcast again but still hot and steamy.
I’ll check for tomatoes and berries later. I don’t worry about snakes around the house—the dogs take care of any varmints, but oh, those chiggers!!! Reward is a berry that is almost the size of a ping pong ball! Right now I’m working on some yo-yos for trim on a project I’m making.
DGD will be back in a week for several days. She is so funny! She was texting me before I’d gotten halfway home of when could she come back. I thought she wasn’t going to be back before school starts on the 18th. Apparently, her mind changed. Of course, it could change back!
Mom was doing pretty well when we stopped in yesterday. She had been sewing and was ready to get back to it. She admired Tasha’s VW wall hanging she made for herself. I showed a picture of her mom’s as it was already wrapped.
That’s just nuts about Vicki’s “psych evaluation” (no pun intended). OMG! That’s terrible about the “best?” friends. Sounds like they may be looking for things/money, etc (would they do abuse?). What do her kids say about giving “strangers” her POA? She definitely needs an evaluation to prove she wasn’t capable of making that decision! I know you don’t want to be sucked in, but you may be there if only to protect her from some opportunists. If you see anything, you may have to call an elder abuse hotline... abuse is mental, financial and physical--especially for someone with illness and diminished mental capacity! One of the SILs works for elder abuse social services, and she gets all kinds of calls. It's sad!!!
Irish—I could live on baked potatoes! I remember reading awhile back about some guy who lived on potatoes for months and didn’t have many ill effects. Does Jim like mashed sweet potatoes? I like them baked with butter and salt and pepper, or sometimes with butter and cinnamon/sugar. Can you whip potatoes and add cheese to them? I’m so glad to hear Terry will be there soon! I know he’s a strong shoulder for you!!!
Tina—so sorry your mom is having problems once again! HUGS!!!
Becca—I can’t walk early. The humidity is high then and hard to breathe… that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!!! I’ll try to make up for lost time when the weather is cooler and the humidity is lower.
Dinner tonight… clean up ALL the leftovers and salad. I made some jello with pineapple in it for afters. There’s always room for jello!
Chow! And Ciao!

Good afternoon!
Home with four of the grands. On our way home, my friend called wondering if I knew about the fire - what fire? Seems as if a idiot building his own home lit construction debris and then it proceeded to light the field on fire. Amazing firefighters! Had it out quickly. This idiot did the same thing last year too. Police are swarming all over. Did I say, it's about a half a block from me! He is in a heap of trouble. Herriman has a no burn policy. Police were very interested in the info Michael provided them.
Dinner - banned casserole and cupcakes. I need to start in a couple of minutes.
Michael is in stcker shock too. He took the fabric to the drapery place and paid the deposit. I keep reminding him that it is five windows. They will be done in four weeks.
Enjoy,
Jana
