SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 16th
Good Morning,
Today is my mom's 102nd birthday. She died when she was only 74 years old. Sure do miss her, even after nearly 30 years.
We saw Drew's house yesterday. It wasn't a house DH and I would buy at this age, but I had to keep reminding Bill that we would have thought it a palace back when we were his age, the dead raccoon under the house notwithstanding. He wants a small house he can afford that he can learn on. And there's plenty to learn here. It was built in the early fifties. And his parents (and grandparents!) are around to give an assist when needed. So I think he'll buy it.
IRISH - so happy Jim got a good report. Let's pray for another one in september. How was your Chinese lunch? It's not my favorite food, but there are some dishes that I do like. You do know a lot about eagles! I, too, always think of you when I see an eagle now. Where is Cari's house in relation to yours? And have you found your GOB dress yet for the wedding?
JANA - I sure hope Stu's fracture begins to heal on its own. If it doesn't, I'm sure the docs will want to investigate as to WHY it's not healing . . I'm trying to remember the details of your house (and YES, for all of you reading this, I do eventually come and make inspections! haha!!). As you come in front door there was Michael's office on the right, a guest room on the left, and then your sewing room was the next room on the left. Michael is moving his office to your master bedroom, so which rooms now will be rooms? I'm trying to keep up with all your changes.
CHICKIE - three of our DGK's buying houses on the same day! (though to be honest, Drew won't officially close for a couple more weeks.) But maybe, since you and Irish seem to have wedding and engagements looming, maybe Drew will meet a nice girl soon, too! In Seattle, in one particular thorny, brushy area along I-5, they brought in goats and a goatherd and let them enjoy the buffet. Worked like a charm. Of course, there were a few people who protested that it was cruelty to the goats. ha!! Those goats were hog-heaven as they hogged everything in sight.
BECCA - New homes in your DGK's lives, too! It's going around. If I could (I can't!) I would buy your DGS a home myself as a show of how much I appreciate him and all the young people who volunteer for service. Tell us more about the baby quilt - colors? pattern? due date? a 60th anniversary is such a milestone. Is this the brother, though, who lost his wife last year? Hugs for him!
CAROL - happy about the stitches and the lack of tingling and numbness. Are you wrapping plastic wrap around your arm for showers? What sort of retina treatment are you getting? Sounds a bit on the scary side.
TINA - I do hope you haven't melted completely away!
Yesterday when we left Drew's house, traffic was so awful (it was 25 miles back to our place) we decided to get dinner. yay! Our younger grandson, Alec (who is in culinary school) works at Red Robin so we showed up there for supper. So fun to see him in his work persona. And nice to know he was proud to be seen by his young co-workers hugging his grandparents!
Today we are having a BBQ of all our Arctic Fox RV friends that are local. And one other couple from Bend, OR (our best rally friends) who just happened to be in the area camping and called to see if they could come by this weekend, visit, and camp in our yard. We said purrfect! They missed the rally this year, so are happy to be able to see the rest of our A.F. clique. They will be a great surprise to the rest of the gang. I think we will be 12 people - maybe 14. I lost count. I know burgers, beans, cookies, and root beer floats are on the menu. Everything else is pot luck.
Can I send you all a float?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 16th
Good morning,
Mary - here's the latest - we moved Michael's office into that front guest room, since you were here. The room that was my sewing, became the current guest room and is occupied by Kate and Aaron at the moment. Gracie's crib is on one wall in Michael's new office, making it hard for him to use it. In the mean time, we have sheetrocked the basement and moved me down there, aka, the Batt Cave. My sewing machines are down by the window with my wonderful views of the mountains. The LA is in that same space, just at the opposite end. So, in the middle of that long room, is the family area and a office set up for Michael. He has his dad's old metal desk there that he uses. The big huge wooden office desk upstairs is what will be moving into my bedroom. It is a very nice piece of furniture, so Michael wants to keep it upstairs. I gained the old old office area back as a living room, so when I want to be more formal, I greet my guests there, if you are more like family, you come back into the great room space.
Now y'all have the rst of the story! LOL
Dinner is still a hodge podge of whatevers. Michael is having a devil of a time getting the nerves to settle down in his mouth. So I will grill hamburgers tonight. He may be able to eat that.
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 16th
Good morning from semi sunny but nice and warm, SW. Pa....We had a few drops of rain yesterday afternoon and hopefully today will be dry....I have the clothes on the line and was trying to clean the basement and garage...You know how it is, you start with 1 thing and it leads to another.....
Mary, I often watch that program, House Hunters and wonder what in the world some see in some of the homes...But, we all have different ideas..And I'm constantly amazed at the huge houses and prices some young people come up with...Heck, we bought our big house (13 rooms) from Jim's aunt for $7000. and paid her $40.00 a month and then she even said, if anything happened to her, the house was paid....The last time that house was sold, it went for almost $200,000....But times have changed...It sounds like Drew has a good head on his shoulders.....Cari lives in Carlisle, Pa., which sadly is almost 3 hours away...She went to school out that way and loved the area...Not living close makes her visits that much better....AND no I haven't found or even looked for a dress yet.....
I probably had told you all about my DS and I stopping at a "junk" store and seeing the ugliest prom dresses ever...Well, we sent Kathy a picture and asked her which one I should get for the wedding...She texted back and said my DS and I shouldn't be allowed to shop together....
Chickie, I would love to have a goat or 2 but then I get thinking back when we did have them when I lived at home....Big mistake! They sure are cute when they're babies but ornery when they get older...We couldn't keep one of our's off the roof of the car...But, they sure would love my yard.....Wonder if anyone would rent me one......
Becca, You always have to much going on...Taking care of DH, seems like there's always a baby on the way and doing quilts with your group....So, tell us about the baby quilt.....
Jana, Hate to hear about anyone having dental hurts...Has to be the pits....You changing rooms around sounds like when we had the big house...I was forever doing something and different times Jim would say, he was so glad I had to leave the bathrooms where they were....No danger of me doing that in this house, darn!
Lunch out yesterday was good but I was on edge just leaving Jim...I did tell the gals, from now on, it has to be some place close to home...But, I did get back to find DS#3, Kevin and his wife, Cindy, visiting so it was a good day......
Jim has already told me he won't be hungry....It's not even lunch time and he's decided to take a nap and not to wake him to eat...I long for the day, he actually tells me he's hungry for something...I do miss cooking and baking....But, I might mix up either banana/nut or zucchini bread and hopefully that might tempt his taste buds.....
Happy eating..............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 16th
Hello hello everyone,Hot here but hoping for rain.Been a really hot dry Summer here & Spring too.
Maryz The young people's needs are different from ours.I long for a one room every time I clean house. Our first house was a 6 room 2 bath brick with full basement & garage for 10,000. Have no clue what it would bring now.
My DB with the 60th is not the one that lost his wife. They had their 60 th in June before she died in August. Now our 6o is August 25. DD just called.Talked to Dad & told him our 3 are planning on having a celebration for us on August 27. Wanted to clear it with him.He said ok.I pray it is a better day for him.But he loves family so he will probably be ok.
On the quilt the baby is due Sept 3. It is going to be a Raggedy quilt .With flannel backing. The other was a chevron strip pattern. The one I am working on will be ok I hope I didn't want to have to hand quilt & be in a hurry. And with DH you never know
On the float no thank you but DH loves them.
Irish Oh do I know how you weren't at ease. One day I went to a quilt show downtown. He went with me so we could eat out.Well he sat on bench & I was on a strain the whole time. When I get back to him he has a friend there talking to him & I find out there was others before.Geez! Can't win.
Jana Do hope Stu gets along well.on DHs tooth.I have nerves in a tooth that have never settled down in 2 yrs & feel it never will.I put honey on the gums & it helps.
Carol Glad you are seeing improvement.I too wondered about your retina treatment.I have a macular pucker so it interest me.
Now that I wrote my book.I will get to supper.Didnt get the chicken salad made so will make it.And roast mushrooms & asparagus. And ice cream....Becca
