quilt with t-shirt material
Hi out there in quilt land. I want to make a keepsake quilt for my granddaughter using some of her t-shirts. I have never tried this before, is there anything special I should do with the material? Will it need to have stabilizer used with it? Any help or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

Hi there!
Yes, you will need to stabilize the t-shirt fabric. I used a lightweight iron on interfacing.
If you look in the video section here on the website, El has a show on how to make a t-shirt quilt. It is very informative.
When I did my t-shirt quilt - I cut the logo's/pictures out larger than I needed and interfaced that and then trimmed them to the size that I needed. That gave me some wiggle room in the layout.
You can add strips of fabric to smaller pictures, even sew a couple of them together to make the sizing correct for the bigger pictures that you are using.
Remember that there are fronts and backs that can be used on all the t-shirts, just cut them all out and see what you like.
Good luck!
