SUPPER CLUB - Fri, May 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri May 13, 2016 3:03 am

Good Morning!

Happy Friday the 13th! Scottie got us on a Friday the 13th. My friend, Betsy, got her two new lungs on a Friday the 13th. My first grandson was born on a Friday the 13th. It's a lucky, lucky day around here!

I finished my baby quilt yesterday. It took me about 6 hours. and it turned out so cute!! It really was easy - just sewing some rectangles and strips together and then some easy applique. I will TRY for photos. The magazine shows it done up in blues but I switched it to pinks. I still need to buy backing fabric, and I'm looking for pink flannel with little owls on it. They are popular now so it shouldn't be to hard. I hope to find one or two owl storybooks to go with it or maybe make some burp cloths if I have extra flannel. Though I always preferred cloth diapers for my burp cloths.

BECCA - you always work so hard in your yard. I hope you find it enjoyable. You either have a lot of shrubs or a long hedge!

CHICKIE - isn't calimari squid? I think octopus is just octopus. Either way - Double-ick.

I'm still 'chewing' on what to have for suppper. It's supposed to be in the low 80's tonite, so BBQ is the thing to do. We just had chicken and pork chops. so perhaps burgers? Or I might just make potato cakes from leftover mashed potatoes and add bacon and eggs. For sure, we won't be starving!

And what can we get for you?

Good morning,

Mary - my roosters will hang on my east facing wall, the one that looks to the mountains. They will be stacked in a four patch pattern, with the frames almost touching each other. That space is the corner by the other window in the kitchen.

Dinner - grabbed some baby back ribs, so will add a macaroni salad and that should do it.

Andrew finished all but two things in that section of his manual. One I will take him to the store and price different ways to make a pizza. The other is cooking a foil dinner, he is foing that with the family when they go camping this next week. Andrew made snacks, lunch for he and Ethan, dinner and fixed a breakfast cassarole for today. We bagged up all itemd, so he could serve them at home. He worked hard and did a great job at 9 years old.

Enjoy!

Hello everyone,Overcast with sun popping thru too.Cant decide.

Jana For a 9 yr old that's impressive.Sweet of you to help but what are we Grammies & Moms for.Know you are always there to help.Happy for him.

Maryz I trimmed the shrubs last Spring. With our early rains & warm temps everything has gone wild growing. We don't have a hedge.Holly & Azalas.7 holly & 10 Azalas. There is a lot of yard work here.DH wants me to let some of it grow natural again but I like the manicured look.Dont like anything looking snakey or overgrown.

I saw the quilt & it looks adorable.I know yours is a winner like all your projects. You are speedy when it comes to quilts.

Yesterday one of the quilting friends sent me a package.I was thrilled after a long afternoon of trimming. She found some books for me that she knew I would love.
Thought that was very kind & thoughtful of her.

More trimming this afternoon.Got my walk in beds dressed & wash complete.
Oh we do have to eat.Didnt get the stew cooked so that will be today over bed of rice. And salad. Becca

Good morning!

Jana—loved hearing about Andrew and his cooking adventures! Of course, he had the perfect teacher to guide his way. Your roosters are beautiful, and I really like the rustic framing. My DH frames most of the artwork here in repurposed barn board.

Becca—I have a lot of yard work that needs my attention, however we also have a lot of “natural” areas along with the just weeds. I’d go for nothing but wild flowers and no mowing, but seems the weeds just take over.

MaryZ—I have no idea about squid, calamari octopus… if it is like a rubber band, forget it!!! Hope to see your baby quilt!!! Grandma used to make us potato cakes with the leftover mashed potatoes. I think it was my favorite way with mashed potatoes. When I make the burp cloths, I either buy the diapers that are folded and seamed or fold and seam my own and “decorate” them with matching fabric or flannel (if I’m just doing burp cloths).

Dinner tonight… need to visit the freezer… beef, I’m sure, and probably baked sweet potato and salad. Tomorrow is shopping, so whatever I find in the fridge is on the menu.

Off to peer in the freezer…

Enjoy!

I visited the freezer this morning to get a Stuffed Pepper Casserole. DH and I will be enjoying it within the hour.

DH and I are both really tired after working all week. I have 14 possible days and may not be working all of them or may end up working all of them, so far not all are scheduled.

Maryz - I am amazed you finished the baby quilt! Congratulations!

Jana - I know you will miss your sidekick. Sounds like such a nice activity with your girls.

Becca - Glad to hear you got the flower beds done. Sounds like your days are busy! Nice of someone to send you books.

Chickie - Isn't is nice to have a freezer with food in it? I love having my freezer!!
