SUPPER CLUB - Tues, May 10th
Good Morning?
We are heading into a stretch of 75-80 degree weather. No complaints here! Except then we need to water. But I'm just sayin' . . . not complainin' . . .
IRISH - I'm so happy you had a nice time with family for Mother's Day. Most kids don't seem to understand that all we really want for Mother's day is to spend simple time with them. Sorry about the S&D visit. I'm wondering about Regis's standing on the favorite cousin list - top or bottom?! lol! Hugs to your Honey. Let's believe your little eaglet just had to grow up fast and fly away.
TINA - I really don't want any more computery things taking up my time so no new accounts - anyplace! I just want to clean out my PB account of 10-yr-old pictures. But I can't even get into Photobucket. I try several times a day. I got in once, deleted one album, and then it crashed again. I guess if anyone wants to see my valuable pictures, they'll have to go to Facebook.
JANA - Stu is almost halfway there! Does he have a life plan for after his mission?
BECCA - we have friends who retired to the Colorado mountains above Durango after living their lives in Cinncinti. They were charmed by the racoon that lived in the woods near their house and started buying dogfood for it. Soon more racccoons came and they bought more dogfood. Before long they were feeding 40 raccoons and buying dogfood weekly in 50# bags. After that the bears came and if there was no food, the bears started trying to get into the house to serve themselves. They stopped feeding everyone after that!
CAROL - that must have been scary at school, being on lock-down! But it seems to be such a common scenario these days. YOU want cooking ideas from ME?? lol!! My dear, you are so kind!! But here's my recipe - I cleaned the fridge and anything that didn't have fur on it went into the casserole. Then I added a can of Cream of Mushroom soup, some horseradish for zip and topped it all with cheese. and DH liked it!
CHICKIE - I texted her last night as she was on the edge of some bad storms. She didn't expect must, but the storm was still young at that point. She said they would probably just get some wind and hail, I think.
I don't know what I'm going to do today. I cleaned my sewing room yesterday and trimmed up some scraps. I need to go through my baby quilt patterns, make a choice, and get started on that for my brother, Albert's, upcoming little great-granddaughter. I get my info from Al and about six weeks ago, all he knew was that she was 'about halfway along'. So I guess I better get it together in case a shower invitation comes my way.
Supper tonite will be more chicken/rice/chili/mushroom/bacon bits/onion/celery/Cr Mushroom soup/mayo/horseradish/vinegar/corn casserole. Can you say Yum?? lol! But my fridge is clean!
Hope your supper is as - um - interesting!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, May 10th
Good morning,
Mary - yes, Stu does have a plan. College is on the top of the list. He wants to go to Utah State in Logan. Matt, Crenda and his mom, Sarah have all gone there and graduated from there. He wants to be a engineer, no surprise there! He is writing with a very sweet girl from the Ward. She is serving a mission too in San Antonio and will be home 2 months after him. Who knows, in a couple of years from now, we could have a wedding.
Dinner - didn't get the corned beef cooked, so will try today. I need a short run to the grocery store. Out of marshmallows - can't make rice krispy treats for Ethan without them.
Andrew is coming on Thursday for a cooking lesson. He wants me to teach him and it is part of his cub scout requirements.
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, May 10th
Good morning! I didn’t have internet earlier. There must have been a power flutter in the night that caused my router to “blip”. I sometimes hate technology!
We must have not had wind or hail last night—which is what I didn’t want. When I texted Mary, my phone must have twisted my thoughts. We needed rain, but NOT the wind and hail. Unfortunately, we got none of any of it. It’s crazy how the weather radar looks like we will be hammered, yet… nothing! Anyway, I’ll be watering today. We are clear and going for almost 90! Aaak! Too hot!!!
I have been absent several days… brunch prep, brunch day and company staying, then a graduation cook out, and yesterday—migraine! It left me with a wonky hangover. When DH said he was going to town to work on the rental for a bit, he asked if I wanted to go along. Since I couldn’t do much anyway, I said “Yes—if you will take me by Mom’s.” I grabbed my Bloom cancer blocks and my three rows of Bloom and took it in for Show and Tell. Mom really enjoyed getting to see the blocks and feeling them. DH must have realized I really didn’t want to cook, so we stopped and had Chinese. It’s really Americanized with mostly American food and about three somewhat Chinese dishes, but I found enough of the Chinese to be happy—and no cooking!!!
MaryZ—your casserole definitely sounds “interesting.” My late DH would not eat any casseroles… didn’t even like lasagna. He wanted each item separate and not mixed with ANYTHING or touching on the plate. I had a divided Corningware plate for him. Have fun with the baby quilt!!!
Jana—that “couple of years” may not be that long at all! Stu sounds like he has his life mapped. How fun to be teaching a Cub Scout to cook! You may be doing demos for the whole pack to help them with their badges!
Carol—that’s scary about the lockdown. My DGD’s school had that because of a hostage situation near the school a few weeks ago.
Irish—hoping for the best with the accident aftermath! Everything happens in a split second… Your brunch sounds delicious!!! I needed mimosas with my crowd!!!
I need to go out to the freezer and find some dinner makings… It will probably be something beefy for DH—steak and potato... I have guacamole made (for only me), so it might be a plate of veggies with guacamole.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, May 10th
Good early afternoon from now sunny but still a little chilly, SW. Pa...We had rain most of the night and this morning and it was looking like a wasted day but now the sun is out and it is most welcome....I'm sure I won't be able to work outside but the sun sure makes it better for getting things done inside....
Mary, I have gone to Facebook and looked at your Valuable pictures and have been most pleasantly pleased and of course in awe....You all HAVE to see her SeaHawks quilt, it is amazing.....Even Jim remarked how special it is....
You know, I always picture your area as damp, not much sun and very, very green and lush...Now, you tell us, you need water and have those warm temps.....Mother Nature is playing tricks on someone.....
And I do love the way you come up with a recipe....Especially the part "that didn't have fur on it".....You do know that's considered a condiment in this house and I don't even charge extra.....
I have been thinking of Chickie and the nasty storms..There again, Mother Nature is having fits....Sure do hope all is ok in her area...It's unbelievable the destruction that is caused by those tornadoes....
Jana, Sounds like Stu has a good head on his shoulders and knows what he wants in life...AND, there could be a budding romance and wedding in the future...You talking about krispy treats brought back a very funny memory...Way back when Kathy was just married, she decided to bring the krispy treats to the family reunion...Well, when it was time to cut into them, no one was strong enough to even make a dent...Poor Kathy then really took the brunt of all jokes from then on....The boys told her she could make a batch and patch the pot holes on the roads and have never stopped....She is a super cook and baker and has no idea what happened that time...
Well, as I said, the sun is out and this is indeed going to be a good day....1st., my nephew is home from the hospital, pretty much on "couch" rest and does have a bad concussion among other bumps and bruises...The other family will recover in time, thank the Good Lord...
My new sweeper was delivered...I had ordered a new Shark because my sister told me I had to have one and I always listen to her, right! But, after using it once, I've collected enough fur to make another cat...And I pretty much use the vacuum every day....
AND the big news, Jim found his wallet....He had gone shopping on Friday and then it was missing and he just knew someone stole it...We searched and searched, I kept checking our Visa account and knew no one had the card so it had to be in the house...Well, sure enough, there it was in one of the pairs of pants Jim had put on Sat. night thinking it was time to get ready for church...3 different times, I had to tell him, it's only Sat. night, go back to bed....But, any how, the wallet is found and Jim is a happy camper....
So, now today, I've already used the vacuum, so I'm done, lol....So, I guess I'll just have to spend the rest of the day with the sewing machine, gosh darn! I have 5 rows of Cari's quilt finished with 4 more to go...Looking better and better.....I do have a stack of mending plus curtains to cut off for my sister but, quilt comes 1st.....
For dinner, I can't do as Mary but I might find some pork chops in the freezer and bread and bake them along with potatoes and a veggie....We're still trying to tackle the goodies from Sunday, mostly Jim and he's doing a pretty good job of it.....Another day or so, I might have to bake again......
Happy eating.............

Hello everyone,sunny & warm here 80.
Maryz You do have a way with leftovers.DGS tells us about no rain in Summer, seems odd after all you get the rest of year.
Irish Glad the nephew is going to be ok & the family also.Your Jim story on the billfold sounds just like what CA did .Oh I ran back to town searching & everything It was stuck between the seats in car.The joys of life.lol
Carol I thought when I read your post about keeping them still for 1 hr.But it is amazing how children sense & do what they are told at a time like that.Too bad we have to have those kind of things going on.
Jana Glad Stu has a plan, maybe wedding bells one day.
Chickie Glad the storms passed you by.We are due some this wk & with the heat they are never nice.
Got DD 3 gallons of berries frozen this morning. And we had to call a repair man on our Washer.Just what we thought a bearing. So we are going to use it until it dies.He said a yr or 2.
Maryz That is the reason I am hesitant to feed here due to bears.I do hAv e them a feast for tonite.zhe came last evening.,I put the food on a paper plate & he was so funny.Every time he got a bite he would jump up in the air like they do when they pounce on their prey.I enjoyed watching him.
I am fixing BBQ ribs in the Dutch oven.Have green beNs & slaw. Becca
