SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 12th
Good Morning!
Our dry weather comes to an end today. We're to have rain for the next three days. OK by me! I'm going to be inside for the next few days anyway. I'm having a colonoscopy on Thursday so tomorrow is prep day. There is no end to the fun here at the Rockin' Z!
TINA - that's a lot of hard work you've been doing! But oh so pleasant to sit out, grill, and eat your dinner admiring your beautiful back yard and pond!
CHICKIE - thanks for the birdhouse lesson! We have none of those birds here, though I'm no expert. We have mostly towhees, finches, hummers, jays, robins. Oh, and woodpeckers. Because you told me about National Sibling Day I sent a message to all my sibs, telling them I loved them and were glad they were all mine. Only to find out I missed it by one day and by then it was National Pet Day instead! lol!
BECCA - you got to play in a creek yesterday!? Color me jealous! I still have a photo of me at about 6 yrs old in my good "Valentine" dress, in the creek, mud all over me and a big happy grin on my face! Sorry your DD has to move further away. My BIL is also a pastor in Charlotte.
LADY CAROL - I hear you on the ill-timed company! We get our place all cleaned up - yard and house - and nobody visits! We just can't keep it up for long and as soon as we're back to our regular selves, here they all come, looking around like we're the biggest slobs in Pierce County! Never fails! lol!
CAROL - Oh, star gazing at the Grand Canyon sounds like an awesome vacation! Do you have an RV or will you be motel-ing it? you will have a terrific time!
IRISH - where is you, Dear? Was this Jim's doctor day?
Yesterday I was in my sewing room, machine humming away, when I suddenly felt like baking. Last week I finished a cozy novel that centered around a bakery and they were always baking scones. I've been wanting scones ever since. I've never made them from scratch, so yesterday I did - with craisins. They were awesome! And so easy! Bill walked in just as I was taking them out of the oven. He was a happy hubs!
The pork fried rice last night was a yum, and the good news is there's enough for tonite, too.
Have you got a handle on your supper yet?

Mary, sorry about your procedure, pray all is good. Isn't that Murphy's Law about keeping everything up but when it's not up to par someone always shows up? Happens here all the time too LOL oh well. Yes it is hard work but like you said it's so nice to be out there enjoying it.
We're going to have banned food tonight and maybe split a baked sweet potato and salad ifneeded.

Mary—sorry about the late sib day! I didn’t get the message from my sis until too late that evening. National pet day is good, too! Scones are kind of glorified biscuits, right? Made with heavy cream --how is that not good? My sister makes them sometimes. You know my DH and biscuits… he could probably learn to like scones!!!
Carole—your star trip sounds wonderful! What a grand place—no pun intended!!! We get the pasture here… although, I must say, seeing the stars reflected on the pond (when the wind is calm) is pretty darned awesome!!!
Tina—I’m so sorry about your dad’s test results, but I’m hoping it’s the slow growing kind that they used to totally ignore.
Last night’s red beans, brown rice and red quinoa with jalapeno sausage and Cajun spices was delicious… so good, in fact, it will be on the table again tonight along with another yummy salad.
Enjoy!

Good morning,
Mary - scones, here in Utah are a whole different thing. They are a yeast bread dough that is rolled thin and fried until golden brown and done. Served hot with honey butter, powdered sugar or jam. They are really yummy. Recipes abound on the internet, if you google Utah scones. When I was in college in Idaho, we would go down to a cafe and get a dozen of the hot scones for a dollar - that was our treat. Better than donuts!
Dinner - well, all leftovers have left and I will need to cook - I need a run to several stores, so will pick up some groceries and see what jumps in the basket.
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 12th
Good morning from sunny and actually getting warmer, each day...I'm thinking, we might have spring after all...Maybe Mother Nature got her act together, finally.....
Oh Mary, hate to hear about the upcoming procedure...BUT, once every 11 years isn't bad and of course will be sending prayers for good results....And I guess you've heard all the bad jokes about having this done so I'm not even going to go there, lol....I didn't know it was "sib day" but I like "pet day" better....And I thought you were to go to the dentist yesterday but here you are baking up a storm....Good thing Jim didn't know.....
Yesterday was our dentist day, Jim for a filling and cleaning and me for a cleaning...This is a new dentist (to us) and even though I told him I'd rather be scrubbing floors, he managed to do my cleaning...My late dentist would always put a number on my gums but this guy said, he just tortures..But, we both survived for another 6 month.....
Tina, I'll bet it is quite a thrill to be able to sit outside and admire your work...And from the sounds of it, that was work! I don't know how you do it......
Lady Carol, I have a feeling we're all in the same boat with the company....You know, there is a sign, something like, The house was clean yesterday, sorry you missed it......And I think Jana posted this one time, if you're coming to see me, come on over, if you're coming to see the house, make an appointment....More and more, around here, I'm going for that lived in look!
You would think with the sunshine, my energy might get the hint and kick in but not yet...I thought, today, nothing on the calendar and I can get a lot done, wrong...Had a call from my doctor and I have a late afternoon check up..I just think he needed a good laugh and had his nurse call me....I was laughing at Mary about having so much fun and I guess felt left out but I just have to look at that calendar and the fun begins (mostly for Jim)...
But, today, I do want to clean the frig...I have a feeling there's things hidden in there that shouldn't be....And as far as dinner, I'm thinking maybe chicken patties and baked potatoes..For afters, Jim has store bought cookies and I have 1 lonely "snow ball"...Oh boy, they were good!
Happy eating............
With the robots, Nick and his team made it to the semi finals and lost by 1 point...Couldn't have been closer...But, it was a good weekend, those kids are amazing.....

Hello everyone, late here as we had guests for lunch. Our rain was gone fast & we have had sun most of day.Our DGS & his DS Wyatt came to visit.I taught him a new song & he loved it.
Maryz Prayers that the test is negative. Not a pleasant experience.
Tina Enjoy your pretty yard.Yard work is hard but rewarding.Prayers to for DAd that it is only there. My DH has it but he wants nothing done.
Chickie Scones ar much better than biscuits. My DDIL made them for us.Since I have made 2different kinds.Very tasty.
Jana Your scones sounds like our funnel cakes. They are fried dough with sugar on them.
Irish Sure hope you get your pep back soon.Or maybe that's a good thing.lol
We finished everything off so new food here.Chipped beef on toast.brocolli & carrots.Ice cream later. Becca
