SUPPER CLUB - Monday, April 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Apr 11, 2016 3:22 am

Good Morning! Tonite is DWTSs night - something to look forward to!

I got all my flower pots washed and filled yesterday. Everything looks so nice. And I planted a packet of shasta daisy seeds. I also got all my yard art items out of the garage and placed around the yard. I LOVE gnomes, animals, or just anything that strikes my fancy. Most of it I find in thrift shops. I'm always on the hunt.

BECCA - I hope you warm up soon! But it wasn't so long ago that you were trying to freeze our Seahawks' tushies off!

CHICKIE - what is the difference between a wren house, a bluebird house, and a regular bird house? I find a lot of bird houses in thrift shops and have them here and there all over the yard. Most are for looks, but some get renters. Oh, and by the way, I'm here to tell everyone that you are not fat! You are tall and very lovely!! I can testify!

JANA - too bad your BIL won't move. Sounds like if his kids are as old as yours and they still 'need' him, it would be best for them if he did move! But it's hard to leave what has always been home. You did it, but I'm sure it wasn't easy. I always admired you for how you embraced your new home.

IRISH - how did the competition go? I just keep thinking of the robotic competition they had on Big Bang Theory one year! And YES! I do remember snowballs! When I was little, they were my favorite. I think I loved them because of the coconut and that they felt so soft. I recall I was really into texture when I was little. My parents laughed at how much I loved them and they were a special surprise they often brought back when they went out to do errands. Mine were the white ones and my always sister got the pink.

CAROL - I freeze almost everything - peppers, onions, celery, parsley, herbs, fresh lemon juice and zest, cooked hamburger, and more. So handy! Where are you going on your vacation?

TINA - where are you?? With your nice weather, you've probably been working in your yard and BBQ'g burgers by evening.

This morning I will take my walk and then I have a massage appointment. My therapist built a mondo greenhouse and I'm taking him all my empty pots and flats left from planting flowers yesterday. Bill needs to have the tires rotated on the pick-up and I need to go to Joann's, so maybe we'll bite the bullet, pay the bridge toll, and go to Tacoma this afternoon.

As for supper, I think pork fried rice will fit the bill since I have leftover pork and leftover rice. I hope your menu falls into place as easily.

I'm here :-) what a last couple of days I had.....don't want a repeat LOL. We've only been eating leftovers except on Saturday after putting down tons of stepping stones and I also got all my weeds cut around my pond and raked then got my leave blower out to clean off everything from the pollen things from the pine trees, when the breeze would get up it looked like it was snowing out there LOL it looks so nice now and all my new pond plants look like they are doing good!
I think this evening is supposed to be nice so it'll be burgers on the grill if it's not then banned food will be the go to backup and a salad with either.

Rain, rain, beautiful rain!!! We had rain last night… slow, soaking rain and not storms. Now, today will be 26 degrees cooler than yesterday! What crazy weather!!! We will be back to freezing tonight, and tomorrow I’ll be able to plant my tomatoes as it’s going to warm up. RAIN!!! Whoo-hoo-hoo!!!

Mary—I love “yard art”!!! Your pink flamingoes are wonderful!!! When my DD goes camping, they put out their pink flamingoes at their campsite. I never see cute yard stuff at thrift shops.

Bluebird houses have a “prescribed” way to build and are deeper than some bird houses. Wren houses are your little houses with little holes. Various houses have various size holes to let in some birds and keep out others (and squirrels and raccoons). Bluebirds don’t like “condos” like Purple Martins (starlings and sparrows will find them, too). Bluebirds are more solitary, and the houses are spaced liberally between and not “looking” at the neighbors which are way down the fence row. They like open, not trees, so they are on solitary fence posts around 5’ off the ground… very picky!

You haven’t seen me recently!!! I weigh 20 pounds more than when you were here last time. I don’t know what happened except my doctor messed with my thyroid medicine, and I am not happy!

I freeze more than I can, too. Your massage sounds divine! I’m sure you are going to appreciate it even more after all of your yard work!

Irish—I always liked the “snowballs”, too!

Yesterday was siblings day, and my sister sent me a picture of when the three of us were kids in our yard in SF.

Tina—you and Mary are shaming me into yard work. Not today! I’ll work tomorrow when it’s going to be warmer again. Today is too much of a shock from yesterday. The wind is “howling”—sounds colder than when the temps are warmer, and it’s from the north, not the south.

Dinner here… hummmmm… only a few bites of last night’s dinner left. I need to go out to the freezer and see what jumps in my hands. Actually, red beans, brown rice and sausage sounds pretty darn good to me. I can have my re-runs on Brussels sprouts. DH just looks at them and rolls his eyes. I’ll get him to eat some salad for veggies. Guess I have my menu…

Enjoy!

Hello to all, sunny but still windy.Temp has warmed up.
Our little grands have all been here today. We went to creek & played outside. They are so much fun. They are 8 months,3, 4 1/2, & 61/2. The Oldest lost her first tooth yesterday.

I hope to get some sewing in this afternoon.Want to get some doll quilts made.

All the talk on yard work.We have done some but lots to do.

Tina That's a lot of stones.Wow hearing about your twins made me cringe.I sure wouldn't want another pool.My oldest DB drowned on a school picnic.Made me very afraid of water but I learned to swim.

Chickie I know the thyroid can really mess you up.When I got on my med I lost weight

Carol Hope the days fly by & vacation time gets here fast.

My DD & DSIL are going to move & it is farther from us.He has been appointed to be a DS ( District Superintendent) in the Methodist Church. He has served as a Pastor for 34 yrs. They will be moving to Charlotte NC.They will be 31/2 hrs from us.

We feed the grands lunch so most of the food is gone.Still lots of goodies & fresh fruits.
So it will be lite for us.Maybe a cheese sandwich or soup...Becca
Irish I never liked the snowballs even thought I love coconut.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Maryz - I freeze the same things you do except celery. Think I will start! I use ground turkey instead of ground beef. Most of the herbs grow outside around the house so usually I can just go pick what I need. We are going to the Grand Canyon for a star gazing event they have every year.

Farmchick - I had heard that various birds are specific in the kind of house. I think it is fascinating!

Tina - Glad you got everything cleaned up.

Becca - Glad you have a few leftovers. I have mixed feelings about the time flying. Sort of like the final days of high school and everyone looking in different directions.

Lady Carol - Enjoy your dinner.

Tonight will be pasta and meat sauce. I made a double batch of meat sauce today, so I will have plenty to freeze.

Carol
