SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Apr 05, 2016 3:39 am

Good Morning,

Our weather is improving again and we are supposed to be up to 77* by Thursday. Whoo Hoo!! I think I can deal with that! I hope it's nice at the end of the month. Mary Q and Kenderosa Sue are coming to visit for 3 days. We will be shop hopping - quilt and thrift. Then Mary will fly on to Alaska to visit her DD and Sue and her hubby will go home to Bellingham, 150 miles north of us. They are bringing their travel trailer. I expect we'll find plenty of trouble to get ourselves into!

Looks like we had a full table yesterday! It was a real party!

IRISH - a new eatery? Close to home? Now that would be nice, wouldn't it? Glad your teams won. Our U of WA Huskies (women) made it to the Final Four but got beat by Syracuse. Two of my three offspring are Huskies.

JANA - that chicken is going to die again of old age by the time you get to it! lol! Hope the little ones found something to entertain them . . .

CHICKIE - I can spare a few billion maple 'helicopters' if you'd like to start your own forest. ;o) Did those ribs end up nice and tender?

BECCA - more banned food?? We need to get out Mr. Webster and double check the definition of the word 'banned'! Sheesh! Rebels!! So - did your team win?

LADY CAROL - so do you have a plan for your jelly rolls or are you just preparing for when a project comes along? I hope our colds don't hang on for months! This is our 8th day, but we've just got junky coughs now.

CAROL - wow! That was quite a list of errands you ran yesterday! You deserved another dinner out! I just had my bone density done, too, along with mammo. I haven't heard anything so I expect all was good. My physical isn't until July.

Our carpets really need vacuuming, but my back is feeling so good since my massage last week. And my LMP said 'don't vacuum!'. So I guess I'll be forced to do a bit off sewing instead. Shucky-darn! I got a start on my DGS's Seahawk quilt. I have the Hawk logo fused (26" long) and a start on making eighteen 12" pieced football blocks. Not sure where I'm going from there. Maybe make the center a football field and put the 'Hawk' kitty corner across it? I can see it in my head. Now to make it come together on my design floor - which brings us back to vacuuming. Sigh.

Supper tonite? Pasta rerun. Simple and quick.

Lol Mary, Don't fall into that vacuuming trick, lay a sheet on the floor ;)
I've got chicken and zucchini thawing for tonight. .... the pack of chicken is a big package so it'll end up being at least two meals.

Good morning from a very chilly, but very sunny, SW. Pa....Darn, it's cold but at least we're not getting the snow the folks up north/east are supposed to get...This is April, isn't it????

Mary, 1st, I agree about the vacuum...Years ago, I had knocked a rib out of place by vacuuming and the doctor said, not to use that little monster...Of course as the crumbs and cat hair build up, it's pretty hard to ignore.....Maybe you should get one of those little things that run around by it's self..A friend of mine has one, also has 5 Main Coon cats so that little thing is always running (and you should see the cats scatter)....How do you get so lucky to have great weather and also get special company?? Do you think your area is ready for the trouble you all came get into? Your Seahawk quilt sounds like a winner.....

Chickie, I also have lots and lots of those helicopters if you run short.. We have little trees coming up every where...And we also have lots and lots of Rose of Sharon bushes coming up...I chop them down by the dozens...

Our lunch yesterday was very nice but we were the only ones there...This place used to be a big old building, at one time used as a skating rink, then an exercise place and now part of it is an event center and the other is a bistro...2 other women had been there and when they left, we were the only ones...It was different, food was good and sure hope things pick up or it won't be around long....

I had a call from a long lost cousin of Jim's and asked if she could stop and visit tomorrow...So, today is "redd" the house and figure out what to have for lunch tomorrow...

As for our dinner, I'm thinking something with chicken...Haven't had chicken ala king for awhile so that just might be in the works......
Not feeling too peppy today so this is going to be a very long day, I'm afraid.....

Happy eating............

Good morning!

BIL was supposed to be here now, but he missed his train! LOL He is a railfan too! So he rebooked his ticket and will be here in the wee hours of the morning.

Ethan and Emma found trouble! Ethan had, please note the had, a toy shovel. Well he was swinging it around and hit Emma. Tears and then Grandpa took the shovel and threw it away - permanently! Ethan has done this before and so after it was gone, he spent time on the chair and then in Grandpa's office eith a stern lecture. Emma is fine. Hopefully Ethan will remember.

The chicken got cooked - some reason, it was tough. Must have been rooster! So new food today, as I have groceries to buy.

Nice and warm, we will be in the 70's.

Enjoy,
Jana

Wow you are having special guests.Enjoy your time together.Glad Maryq is getting time off.

Irish Hope the eatery picks up so it will remain open.Hard when a place just opens.

Good afternoon from the oh so windy plains… The pond has whitecaps and there are small craft and fire danger warnings. We are dry—so dry there are no morels. I’ve only found three decent ones, and they have been super dry. Never the less, I consumed them!!! I should quit looking and concentrate on sewing, but I am the eternal optimist!

MaryZ—how exciting to have company!!! Wish I could be there with you all!!! I don’t need any “helicopters”… we have lots of elm, ash, etc. to contend with in our gardens. I think I could put up an umberella and be in Minnesota with MaryQ by the time she gets home from work with the gale-force winds out there!

Irish—we have a Rose of Sharon bush, a double flower one, and it doesn’t re-seed like the single flower ones down at the old home site did. Vacuuming CAN be hazardous to your health! I try to avoid when I can!!! I would love a Roomba for my dogs’ hair—wondered if they worked well on wooden floors.

Becca—I can always tell where DH has been by the trail of open doors… Banana pudding sounds yummy!!!

Jana—I remember those little gardening tools with metal. One of my sisters accidentally bopped the other in the head with a hoe, and she got stitches in her scalp! Such was life in the 50s!

Tina—I like your idea for a design wall (floor)!!! I need several plastic table cloths with flannel backing so I can roll up my projects after laying them out…

As for the ribs… great flavor, falling off the bone, but still tough and stringy. It was the meat from that calf. The calf was crippled which is why we didn’t sell it, and the meat has been poor from it. It was “Poor Calf” when it was alive, and on the table, it’s still poor calf! I made farfalle pasta with broccoli and Alfredo sauce. DH ate a few bites… I can make a meal from that alone! I even sprang and made carrot cake (with help of Betty Crocker mix) and used some frosting I had in the freezer. It was quite a success!

DH will have more ribs tonight—he doesn’t mind the chewiness (is that a word?), because the good flavor. I’ll probably have pasta. We’ll have salads and of course the cake…

Enjoy!!!
