SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Feb 9th
Good Morning!
Our dinner party last night was fun and tons of foods, but few leftovers. So we planned it purrfectly! I think we dirtied every dish in the house, though. I'm running a second load through the dishwasher and still have pans and wine glasses to do by hand.
IRISH - I know those new families will very much appreciate having some meals brought to them! I well remember those days! And I agree with you - I believe Manning is telling the truth. That being said, I believed Alex Rodriguez was being truthful, too!
BECCA - I was really rooting for Denver, but even so I was thinking that after the year your Panthers had, it was sad that they couldn't cap it with a winning Super Bowl. But there's always next year!
JANA - that dinner sounds fun! Swiss steak in a crockpot is always good - and so easy! it's one of my company go-to's. Is there a 'theme' for the supper, like Mexican, Italian, American, etc?
TINA - our house, during the game, was semi-quiet. My younger sister is, by nature, and loud, excitable person. So any room she is in is definitely not quiet!
CHICKIE - You are training your DGD right! What a great way to build your stash, I might keep that in mind next time we roll through Kansas! Laughing at you having to protect your supper from your HOOLIGANS! LOL!
CAROL - Your day sounds crammed full! so nicer to have a heat'n'eat supper to come home to.
My brother is up and walking some, with assist, and eating a regular diet. He is craving meatloaf and is eating it for lunch and dinner every day. After 8 days of NPO, I suspect sawdust would have tasted like ambrosia! He is going to rehab today or tomorrow. yay!
This is my sisters' last day here. They leave tomorrow morning about 7am. The house will seem so quiet! Blessedly quiet. peaceful quiet. QUIET quiet! Lol! Really, I've enjoyed the girls, but it will be nice to be just us again. And to see my sewing machine again!!
So to celebrate we are going to the Mexican restaurant tonite. Ole`!!
Everybody celebrate!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Feb 9th
Update on my eagle update: Early this afternoon, the people from CROW, a rehab near the nest, brought in a cherry picker and were able to free the little one...It was fishing line and the poor thing would have never gotten free..They then did take it back to the rehab for evaluation and hopefully will be returning it to the nest soon...You can tell the parents are very confused, wondering where their baby is....
Good morning from a very snowy, wintery, SW. Pa...Where did our spring go and why????But, I always remember Jim telling how, when he and his sibs were growing up, they always went to their Grandmother's for their birthdays but Jim being a Feb. boy, always missed out because of the snow...His birthday is next Monday, the 15th...
Mary, so glad to hear the good news about your DB, Jim...Craving and wanting meal loaf, that's different but as you said, I'll be it tastes wonderful...Hoping and prayer, each day is better and better...
I just have 1 sister and she, too, can be loud at times and maybe it's a good thing she lives near and I don't get her for long visits, lol....But, also thank the Good Lord, I have her....That's funny, I also believed Rodriguez BUT, I think, all you have to do it look at Manning, How could he do anything bad even after he had all those Buds the other night?
Becca, did you get your call about your surgery? Been thinking about you and praying it will go smoothly...We can't have you missing at the table.....Besides, you have too many dolls to finish...
I've really been getting confused with all our Carols....The only 1 I can keep straight is Lady Carol, so I'm really sorry when I goof up on the other 2...Bear with me gals, I'm old, lol....
As I said, we're back to snow and winter and that means, I stay inside (maybe until April)...Yesterday after hearing the weather forecast, I made the stuffed shells and took them to our head gal and she'll get the rest of the meal and deliver today...The gal that coordinates our meals suffers from MS very badly and is in a wheel chair but this doesn't stop her from this mission...She's really something....
And also had a message from Terry, DS in N.C., and he wants to come home this weekend but with the snow, we'll just have to wait and see....
For our dinner, no going out for us but we have extra stuffed shells, add garlic bread and a salad and couldn't be easier.....
Happy eating..........
Eagle update:
So far, no eggs in our nests up here but the adults are "working" on it....
BUT, in the Ft. Myers nest, 1 of the eaglets has gotten his leg/talon caught in something in the nest bowl..The parents have even tried to help get him un-stuck but so far, hasn't happened...One good thing, they are making sure he's eating....
So, I guess, I'll have to make a trip to Florida, shinny up that tree and help get the poor bobblehead free...I don't think the parents would might me visiting.....They might even invite me for dinner or would that be "make me their dinner", lol.......

Mary, glad your brother is doing better every day! Wonderful news
I love my quiet days too, never thought I'd say that, I used to hate to be alone but that was before quilting found me
Irish, I hope the baby eagle gets free today!
Becca, thinking of you and your upcoming surgery, good thoughts.
I don't know what we're going to have for supper but it's going to have chili in it! LOL I'm craving chili
maybe carne asada, yummy.
Tina

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Feb 9th
Good afternoon,
Boy has the day gotten away from me - I thought that it was still morning! Guess that is what happens as you watch El's webinar and sew blocks together. I am working on the Sew Along - Bloom with Lori Holt and have the first row assembled. Was going to be a smarty pants and get the top border, but my picture is just not quite big enough to see which fabrics she used - will go and look in another place and maybe get it done too.
Well dinner out the other day didn't happen and I am tired of cooking! So we will get something and bring it home. I need to make a run to the LQS and get the fabric for my Activity Day Girls quilts that they will start tomorrow. Found my pattern downstairs - right where it should have been - put away! LOL So now I know the yardage amounts and can get the fabric. I will cut the strips as I don't trust 11 year olds with the rotary cutter just yet.
Ethan is here with me today. He has extremely large tonsils and if he is not careful how much food he tries to swallow, he gags himself and then won't eat that food anymore. It happened once with scrambled eggs and bacon. So the other day, I talked him into trying it again, reminding him about small bites, so it was a success and now he only wants scrambled eggs and bacon! So Sarah tries to cook it for him. Ethan insisted that she call me to get the "instructions" - well she knew how, as I have cooked them this way since before she was born. Well, Grandma must do a better job as he will not eat hers, just mine.
Such a funny little boy!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Feb 9th
Good evening! I think things are somewhat back to “normal” here… whatever that is with the three hooligans and a retired DH!!!
Today we had to make a trip to town, so DH and I picked up Chinese take out. Somehow, we were able to leave the hooligans at home. It was still in good shape when we returned.
It was so funny when Tasha packed up all the scraps… not really scrappy at all… I only used 10” squares from the FQs! She acted like it wasn’t the first time. She’s a case! So glad she likes to come spend time with me.
Besides dinner, our trip to town involved getting a pretty little drop-leaf walnut table from a house that is to be torn down. It belonged to one of DH’s friend’s late mother. I also got a laundry drying rack, and DH found a couple of “project” chairs. The table is a bit of a project as well.
Jana—glad to hear you do the cutting as well. What pattern are your girls making? I have a disappearing 9-patch cut for Tasha’s next quilt. She brought home a collection of FQs from her vacation. They are a Paris themed collection. I found another set of FQs from the collection on sale and got them for piecing the back.
That’s a hoot that Ethan only wants to eat YOUR eggs and bacon! Kids are so funny!!!
Tina—I got so much more accomplished without a retired DH, but he is fun. I’ve never minded being alone for some reason. I could always immerse myself in a good book BQ (before quilting).
Irish—that’s wonderful the little guy got saved!!! I always am concerned about fishing line, nets and the plastic six pack stuff around the lake. We pick up line and trash all the time when we walk over there. I’m always dazed and confused…
Becca—DGD lives 50 miles away, and we have a convenience store we meet at that is exactly in the middle of nowhere between our houses. Usually I take her home, so DD doesn’t have to drive after she gets off work at 6:00… makes for a late evening for all. It doesn’t matter for me, since we are night owls here. I love beans and rice! We do that often. In fact, I’ll have some left-over rice from my Chinese take out. That would be good with red beans! I’m sorry your Panthers didn’t win. Your QB is pretty amazing.
Have a great evening!

Good Evening Everyone!
Irish - It is okay to mix up the Carol's. I am the one though that my Mom was born just a short distance from Pittsburg. Both sides are almost totally Irish. (There is some Swiss and Scotch on my Mom's side.) I live on the West Coast near the Port of Los Angeles. I hope by knowing just a little more you will remember.
Becca - I wish I had had dinner ready tonight! Tonight I had to fix the meat loaves so I could freeze three small ones and cook one. It is a lot of work to do after working all day.
Jana - Ethan is cute! Only Grandma's scrambled eggs. lol
Maryz - Glad for a successful dinner party. Hope it is all cleaned up.
Chickie - I love to read, but am always glad when DH is home too.
Tina - I enjoy some quiet days just not too many in a row.
Tonight's dinner was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green peas, salad. Dessert is a piece of banana nut bread.
Carol
