SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Feb 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Feb 07, 2016 3:13 am

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Who's watching? We are. Denver is playing and my two sister, who are both from just 40 miles north of Denver, are here. They don't care for football, but we are forcing them to cheer for their home team. lol!

I just had the entire Supper club thread typed out and it went *POOF*! and I had to resign in. grrrr.... So I'm not going to do it all again. Wasn't that interesting the first time around anyway.

My brother is doing well now. We're going to go sit with him while his wife goes to Mass this morning. He sometimes has hallucinations from his parkinsons meds and tries to escape burning ships, or climb off bulldozers, or whatever else his mind 'sees'. Now, he might actually make it out of bed, so we watch him carefully. But most of the time he is lucid.

TINA - could your parents get Meals on Wheels delivered to them - at least temporarily? Or help from a church guild? Or just some neighbors taking turns delivering suppers?

I haven't figured out supper yet. The only thing I'm coming up with is swiss steak done in the crockpot, with mashed potatoes and salad. I do have a Plan B if the opinion poll rebels at the steak, and that will be my old standby, Pesto Pasta and I toss in whatever sounds good - black beans, olives, tomatoes, diced ham, etc. In fact, that's starting to sound even better to me than the swiss steak! Ok! That's what we're having! I talked me into it!

And you all are invited! There's always plenty!

Hello everyone,Sunny & cold .But a beautiful morning.

Maryz Meds can be a blessing but sometimes the side effects are horrible.Praying for DB .We are a Panthers household here.My DGSs wife & him live in Charlotte,Home of the Panthers. They are really big fans. And little Cadence who is 2 has her cheering outfit ready.

Tina I tried getting meals on wheels for my Mom & Dad & what a hassle. We never got it.I prayed for people to bring in Food & friends did.I was too far away to go.It is not an easy thing to deal with.Hugs to you.

We have the ribs I fixed yesterday. We didn't want them. And baked sweet potatoes & steamed broccoli. Ice ream. Becca

Glad we have more cheering on the Broncos! :-)
So happy your brother is doing better!
Mom and Dad have gotten meals on wheels before, they deliver frozen for about 2 weeks worth of meals. She was supposed to call and get it started again, I'll call her and see if she remembered. Their friends are all the same age or older than my parents and not in very good shape to help them out. The church they go to doesn't even have a preacher and hasn't for about 4 years, they can't get anyone to go there. Their congregation is about 10-15 people at the most and all over 70. I think the population where they live is maybe 200?
I've had2 fun filled days of sewing, I had Friday off. I feel so refreshed. It's been mostly just me and Frankie except when we visited his sister and brother in law. I need to vacuum and then I'm going to finish sewing my new remade Brazil Sue down and then cut out more of the ISBS's to go with the swap blocks :-)
Tonight's supper is already in the crock pot, veggie soup :-)

Good morning,

Leftovers on the menu here - the game will be on , so the microwave will be working.

I am hoping that the old man, Manning will pull off the win. Go BRONCOS! Sorry, Becca.

I will watch the game down in the Batt Cave and sew at the same time.

Mary - I would vote for the Swiss steak - one of my favorites!

Becca - we tried the Meals on wheels for both sets of parents. They were dependable here in Utah, but my mom was a pill and had a fuss about every meal, so we stopped. I saw it as very useful, someone to talk too and food too. I was living in California then, so the program was a help to me. My mom lost it and thought that everyone was out to get her and was putting ground glass in her food. Such a sad and hard thing to deal with. But we managed.

Time to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very sunny, super nice, SW. Pa...Get it, Super....Today's weather gives you a good feeling.....

Mary, good to hear Jim is feeling better and able to get out of bed...Hopefully one of these days, all the meds will be the right ones...It's terrible when the side affects take over....For my Jim, he never ever took pills, and now, doc is having him take quite a few and it just makes you wonder....By the way, Jim votes for swiss steak....

Tina, I also think Meals on Wheels is a good idea but then I'm kind of partial on the subject...After working in our kitchen, I know what our meals were like and thought they were wonderful, a lot of the time, better than I was making at home, lol...We also gave them enough for lunch and dinner...Now when I was in Florida and helping my friend deliver, it was a different story, I was not impressed at all...I hope your Mom does remember and I also hope the meals are good ones....Nice to hear you are having some time to yourself, you certainly deserve it....And veggie soup for dinner, life is good!

Becca, been thinking about you and your upcoming surgery...Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers....Being on this side of the country I really should be cheering for Carolina but I really do like Manning...Will just say, hoping for a safe, exciting game....

We went to early Mass and then onto breakfast...Sat and talked and didn't leave until after noon...Then we stopped and visited with the fur babies, came home and Jim is in his recliner with his eyes closed...I'm sure he's just meditating, sure wouldn't be sleeping....

For our dinner, it's going to be lots and lots of finger foods...This gal isn't cooking...I did bake a cinnamon bunt coffee cake yesterday so we'll have good afters.....

Happy eating.............

She did call for Meals on Wheels, they said they don't deliver out where she is anymore but a lady in the background said it's only 3 miles past where they do deliver so they are having a meeting about it and will let her know tomorrow. Last time they got it they delivered every 2 weeks, all frozen and they did enough meals for breakfast, lunch and super plus granola bars and fruits and little cartons of milk.
