SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Jan 23rd.
Good Morning!
How is everyone doing with their weather? BECCA and IRISH? I hope you both have power, fabric, and enough TP to 'weather' the storm! All we have is rain here. But yesterday was 56* and sunny! We took a long walk with Scottie. Happy dog! His tail smiled the entire way!
We have my TG quilt on the frame and will get it finished this weekend, I'm pretty sure. To keep my itchy sewing hands busy, I went back to working on my vintage trailer blocks. There are only 8 (12"x15") and I now have 4 finished. Depending on how the day goes, I might get them all done today. But there is bedding to wash, sleeping bags to haul to the laundromat, and a garage to clean, so it won't be all cotton and bobbins today.
IRISH - digging up your basement? Yikes! Is it a dirt floor or are they having to jackhammer through cement? What a job! Do you have a back-up potty? Or an outhouse? ( I grew up with an outhouse. No door on it, either!) And if you get graham crackers for your birthday I would hope they include a container of chocolate frosting!
CHICKIE - so how are those cow quilts coming along??
JANA - I thought Baden was an unusual name - and it is - but now that I know where it came from it's purrfect! I love the plan you have for the quilt! Sunshine and shadows - just like in the woods when camping! Brilliant!
TINA - joint replacement patients can't do steps until they go through PT. Not even motorhome steps. Glad he is going to re-hab. I know your mom can't cope with him at home.
Last night's supper turned out to be lasagna! It's hard to tell what frozen packages are sometimes unless they are labeled - which they weren't. My bad. I thought I was pulling out enchiladas, but I was wrong. I wonder what we'll end up eating tonite? I know we have bean soup, enchiladas, more stew, and more lasagna in the freezer. It all has to be et.
What's going on your menu?

Hello everyone from a snowy Carolina. Our power was restored at 5 AM.Out for a day.We do have heat as we have gas logs & a generator that lets us microwave.use toilets & a few lights. No cooking so I made soup to have on hand.Last nite at 2 I was up emptying the frig as I knew it would all spoil.Used the porch.Oh well today has to be better.
Did a lot of cutting yesterday.Couldnt sew with no power.
Maryz You are a whiz when it comes to quilts.Know it is pretty.
Irish oh the joys of remodeling.I would run away too.Wish you could come & visit to talk about world affairs.lol
Tina Glad your Dad is getting the PT.It is amazing how they make you get up but sure it is best for you.Hope he does well.Sure you want to be there but you can only do so much.
Chickie I missed who is Ava you talk about? Glad the storm missed you. There are a lot here without power.
It may be soup again or Chicken pie.I hope to get something baked. The mornings are my worst time from the meds so it has to be done in afternoon.
I have missed so much sleep due to power out & DH gets upset when storms come.Hope to get a nap.....Have a great day. Becca

Good afternoon from a very snowy, cold, SW. Pa...But, I guess we're lucky, we only have about 7-8 inches of the white stuff compared to some places....And no problems with the power, so all is good.....
Mary, 1st a big thank you for sending that picture of Becca's Raggedy Ann....I love, love it...Only thing better would have been Becca in the picture, holding it....
Our basement is cement and you know boys and their toys...I remember when JP, our oldest DGS was about 8, he actually cried because his Dad wouldn't let him use the jack hammer...Well, he had his chance yesterday and I'm not sure he enjoys it as much now that he's grown...But, they replaced all the pipes from under ground up, fixed the leak in the upstairs potty and had to move it a little, and then replaced the potty downstairs which is right below the main one...So, in moving the upstairs potty, that meant putting in new flooring which means a trip to get new stuff...But, for today, it's clean, clean, clean...How can a job make so much dust and mess????Now, you know why I escaped and went to lunch....And, no, we don't have an outhouse, another reason why I escaped....Now with 2 new "johns", I'm in potty heaven.....
I'm not a chocolate eater and love graham crackers with butter..Paula Dean loves me......
Becca, you really should be patting yourself on the back...That doll is gorgeous and I'm sure will be treasured for years to come....Sorry to hear you had lost power...That's a major fear of mine and we have no generator or fireplace...Always going to get one but so far.....Certainly hope and pray everything will be better today....
Along with the cleaning, trying to get the laundry finished...Would love to be able to sew all afternoon but don't see that happening...I had to laugh at Mary's surprise from the freezer....How many times have I put left overs in the freezer and "of course I'll remember what it is"???Lots of surprised but that makes life more interesting, right?
And speaking of surprises, I sure wish someone would surprise me with dinner, but some how, don't see that happening either....Being a nasty stay at home day, soup and sandwich would be good...Now to find the soup fixins and get it going...........
Happy eating...........
Stay warm and please stay safe.............

Good afternoon!
A huge thank you Mary for sending me the picture of Becca's doll.
Becca - she is beautiful and a treasure! Hope your power stays on. Especially for tomorrow's game, even though I am rooting against your Panthers. But remembering my track record, I guess they will win!
Got the fabric for Baden's quilt. Ethan was a big helper! He was reading a fabric book about monkeys at the shop and a customer saw the book and wanted to know where he got it. He obliged and showed her the childrens table. He tried hard to help, even with a smile.
Dinner - Michael has leftover soup and I will cook some pasta and add alfredo sauce. Short order cook tonight.
I am planning a day of cooking a bunch of freezer meals - already have my felt marker ready!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon! We are chilly here, but it’s doable. I went in to town to the grocery store, then to visit Mom. I washed and set her hair and fixed her lunch and sat with her while she ate. When I left, she was on her way to her daily post lunch nap.
While at the store, I found some steaks, so that will probably be on DH’s menu this evening. I may just have some soup, as I came home and had some tamales for a “snack”.
Becca—your Raggedy Ann is beautiful! She reminded me so much of the one I had when I was a kid. Mine had shoebutton eyes and a blue floral dress with the white apron and her red and white stockings. …Oh, and pantaloons like your doll! Glad you finally got your power back on.
Irish—nothing like having potty heaven!!! I picked up a jackhammer… once! There’s no way I could actually hang on to it and turn it on!!! I have new respect for the guys who are beefy enough to handle them.
Jana—that’s so cool to be named after Lord Baden Powell!!! Ethan is such a cutie—love the helping story!
Mary—thanks for the picture! I didn’t get you answered back; it came while I was washing and setting Mom’s hair. If I started making cow quilts, DH would have me committed to a place where they took away my needles and rotary cutter! I guess they are on their own… It’s warmer now!
Stay warm and safe!

Well round one of freezer meals are done - I did simple today - ham and swiss cheese on crossiants and corned beef and swiss on crossiants. They have a secret yummy sauce on the bread. Wrapped and labeled - and in the freezer. That made six meals for us - just open a can of soup - voile!
Secret sauce - dijon mustard, worchestsire sauce, finely diced onions and butter. Put all in a sauce pan and cook for about 5 minutes, whisk it together - the mustard helps hold it together. Spread on rolls.
I wrapped everything in individual foil packets and will heat them in the oven until the cheese is all melty and gooey.
That took care of six meals, or if we share, they are big sandwiches, 12 meals

Becca, your Raggedy Ann is so cute!
I'm here in Dad's room, made for 2 people, so far he doesn't have a roommate, hope it stays that way. 1 bathroom shared between 2 rooms up to 4 people, the room is 10x17, no tv's unless you bring your own. He's not very happy here. Mom hasn't been to visit him here at all and only once in the hospital. If it was reversed Dad would never hear the end of it, she actually makes him sleep in the chair at night in her room when she's in the hospital. I brought him banana but muffins and poppy seed rolls that I made yesterday, he sure brightened up for those LOL.
Today is Frankie's birthday, 58 today. He's a good guy to spend his birthday in a nursing home, looks like the nursing home was built before Dad was born and he just turned 77. Oh well, hopefully he can fly the co-op in a couple days.
We're eating at Texas Roadhouse for the birthday boy.
