SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Jan 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jan 18, 2016 2:45 am

Good Morning!

Well, the ending wasn't what I'd been hoping for, but yesterday was still a good game between the Seahawks and the Panthers. JANA, you must have decided to root for the 'Hawks, cuz they sure didn't win! But after a dismal first half (31-0), they came back and lost by only 7 points. And truth be told, the Panthers are so good they deserve to go to the Super Bowl. So, BECCA, congratulations to your team!

TINA - congrats to your Broncos, too! Since my sisters live in Colorado and my BIL is a huge fan, the Broncos are our back-up team - except for when they play each other. Looking forward to seeing your Sam!

CHICKIE - I heard that the Rams are returning to L.A. and that also the Chargers want to move there, too! And you're right - the AZ Cards just doesn't sound right. At least when Oklahoma City STOLE our Super Sonics Basketball team, Seattle kept the name so we could one day get another pro team and use the name.

CAROL - have fun at the Quilt show! I've never been. Do you have a quilt in this show? I should try to make it at least once. I've been to Houston twice and hoping to go again this coming fall.

BECCA - congrats on your game! Well played! I hope you are soon feeling better!

IRISH - I was thinking of you yesterday as we watched the Steelers. Sorry, but we just had to root against them. Did Jim watch the game? Eyes open or closed?

Well, tonite is going to be cabbage rolls. We ended up eating the last of our BBQ pork last night in sandwiches with a big salad on the side. Guess I better figure out how to make them. I used to have a recipe, but my recipe box burned and I've forgotten a lot of my old favorites. I'm sure "Betty" (as in Crocker) will have some advice for me!

Bon appetit`!

Good Morning Everyone!
Maryz - Yes, I have a quilt at Road to California Show. It was juried into the show. Lori, zfatcat, also has a quilt in the show, hers was part of a challenge. I don't think hers was juried in, but may be incorrect. I am hoping to see Lori this weekend. Lori is really fun to be with at a quilt show.

I must admit I am really not a sports on TV fan and did not watch any games. I did get a quilt sandwiched and am very happy I got that done.

Tonight I am going to try to go with a Meatless Monday theme. I think it will be Marinara Sauce and spaghetti, oven-fried zucchini a salad and garlic toast.

Good morning,

Mary - I am innocent! I was at church during the game, and only watched and rooted for Denver yesterday. Sorry they lost. I am hoping that the Panthers lose now, I am not a fan of their quarterback. I am hoping big time that Peyton Manning can lead Denver past New England, I really don't like them. It will be a very boring Superbowl if the Panthers and New England make it. Even with the game at the Niners new stadium.

Well the leftovers are gone. A clean start to the week. I think I will do baked parmesan chicken with a salad.

Sorry Becca to root against your team.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! Cold here again and gloomy… ‘tis the season. We had a dusting of snow yesterday afternoon.

I’m trying to “think warm” and I’m making South of the Border foods… carne asada in the crock pot. It will probably cook all night on low. This is some TOUGH meat… hopefully it’s the last of it. I also have made guacamole. I’m thawing hamburger for tonight. I haven’t decided what it will be… maybe more of that South of the Border food, but that’s really pressing my luck with DH. He can always have a burger and I’ll have something spicier and think “warm!”

My DSIL is from STL, and he’s none too happy after learning to root for the Rams that they are now leaving. He was not happy about the Cardinals leaving back then.

That was a good idea for the city to keep the name Super Sonics. Cardinals just don’t fit in AZ with the tradition of the STL Cardinals baseball.

Speaking of basketball, the former KC Kings are in Sacramento.

Jana—your dinner sounds good!

Carol—congratulations to you and Lori to have your quilts accepted!!! I thought I remembered you each had quilts in the show. BEST WISHES!!! Give her and yourself a hug from me! Your dinner sounds delicious, too. It’s hard to cook here. DH doesn’t like Mexican or Italian, and both are my favorites.

I’m like Tommy Lasorda… “All my favorite foods end in vowels.”

Enjoy!

Good late afternoon from a very bitter cold but very little snow, Sw. Pa....I'm thinking, I'd rather have a lot of snow and not as cold but who listens to me......And why would I complain, I don't have to go outside......

I did have a message from Lady Carol and she sends everyone her love...She hasn't been feeling up to par but hopefully, she'll be back at the table before long.....

Mary and Becca, I thought about you 2 during the game....1st half was all Becca and 2nd was for Mary....Quite a thriller! Now as far as the Steelers, even I watched some of it...I honestly didn't think they had a chance but then when it got so close, I began to think "maybe"....Oh well, maybe they'll get Vick off their roster and I be back in my "rooting" mood next year....I did tell Jim, I think it will be New England and Carolina in the biggie.....

Carol, what great news.....You must be so excited....Sure hope you and Lori meet up and have a great weekend.....Your dinner sounds yummy....

As far as our dinner, it's back to the left overs....Today was the fireman's hoagie sale so, I forced Jim to bundle up and trot down to the fire hall and get us lunch and dinner....Just as he came back, our DS, Kevin, stopped in and had lunch with us, (loved having him here)..So, now, need to heat up some left over chicken soup and finish the hoagie....My kind of dinner, easy peasy.....

Happy eating.........

Stay warm, stay safe

I changed dinner plans tonight and am making a one-pan (cherry) tomato and pasta dish. Everything else is the same.
