SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 13th
Good morning!
Yesterday we hit the grocery store, Costco, and threw some more money at the big lotto game. Then we met my DB and SIL for lunch. When we got home, I made meat loaves and patties to freeze, and parted out all my pork chops so I could get one at a time out of the freezer. That seemed to take all day long.
My brother had just come from a doctor appt and his 6-HOUR surgery is now rescheduled for Feb 1st. The office staff had booked it for day surgery instead of in the big OR. Is it just me or has medical office staff in recent years taken a dive on the intelligience scale? This is only one of dozens of similiar mistakes made by office staff I've seen happen to Jim, other family, and friends in the last few years. Frustrating! A few family members had already purchased airline tickets.
Now that I've (hopefully) worked that out of my system . . . .
CHICKIE - I guess I'm lucky. For the most part, Bill and I like the same foods. He goes rogue, however, in restaurants where he orders banned dishes. Otherwise, as long as he can't see any cilantro in his food, he's on board with whatever I cook for him..
TINA - Frankie knows which side of his bread has the butter! Praise the cook and he won't have to be doing it himself!
JANA - chicken enchilada soup sounds tasty!
BECCA - it was a little bit exciting, having the semi-streaker visit our yard. But I wish he'd done it in the daytime. We saw NOTHING but flashlights and the dog's beacon!
IRISH - sorry your chili rellenos were too spicy. I buy medium sauces - no I don't generally make my own - but there is a mild version in nearly all Mexican sauces.
We never got to our soup yesterday because we met DB for that late lunch after his dr appt. So, tonite - soup. Tomorrow - maybe hamburgers . . . .

Mary I totally agree, if I was their boss they would be fired....so frustrating! My Dad just had that happen, he was scheduled for the 14th for his knee but on his paperwork it read partial knee replacement so he asked the Dr and sure enough they had it wrong so he's rescheduled for the 20th for a full knee replacement. I think Dr's are just as bad lately, they don't have a clue when you go to see them, I guess they don't bother reading the patient info before going in the room. Ugh.
Today Preston is getting his thing under his tongue clipped, I hope all goes well.
Last night Holly made pork chops, green beans, corn and salad, it was very good
) Tonight is leftover soup so I don't have to worry about supper tonight
) I'm all finished with my Italian Sue's so I can fuse my BOM Brazil Sue down tonight
) Sounds like a good evening for me
)

Mary—I used to shop like that, and it definitely seemed to take forever to “process” all the big packages when I returned home.
That’s crazy about all the delays and mis-scheduling. So hard on Jim, I’m sure!!! …not to mention the pocketbooks of the airline ticket purchasers!!! Grrrr!!!!
You are lucky to have a “good eater”! I shared your Chiles Relleños casserole recipe with O’Dorothy—was sure you didn’t mind!—and told her DH eats things that walk… doesn’t like things that fly, swim or are rooted. He eats SOME chicken and turkey, but only SOME. He eats pond fruit and pink crustaceans but not ocean swimmers so much. Give him a rabbit done like fried chicken… Heaven! CRAZY!!! It’s been an adventure here the last 10 years!!! Since I didn’t come on the scene until he was almost 60 years old, I blame his mother and his late wife for his eating tastes and how he never wipes his feet when he comes in the house. It’s like following Pig Pen around. Any nagging falls on “deaf” ears—talk about selective hearing… he can hear a deer walk in snow, but he never hears me!!! LOL!!!
Irish—I think you can get “mild” chiles that are canned. I never thought they were too spicy, but then I do like my heat!
Tina—you are so right… the doctor is reading the chart as he dashes into the room! I had a huge argument with one of my late DH’s surgeons about WHICH kidney he was removing. I had to make him get the x-ray before he believed a dumb woman who was not a physician! He still was unconvinced and pretty much told me how superior he was. He did not do the surgery. We went to Mayo to have it done!
My truck needed a trip to the “hospital” last evening for work to be done today on her injectors. Funny thing… half a block away from Pizza Hut… Tonight we will be having the chiles relleños casserole with the meatless burritos. I’m happy—Italian and Mexican in the same week!!!
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 13th
Good morning,
Mary - I so agree! Sarah's first husband had a brain tumor that was later determined to be cancerous. The doctors needed to drain the brain fluid off, so they did it into his abdomen. Michael asked and was shot down that those cancerous cells could not live in that environment. Wrong, they did and contributed to his death. Off my soap box.
Soup was very easy and good. It really only took 20 minutes to fix and serve. Michael liked it too.
Leftovers tonight.
Enjoy,
Jana

Tina--hope all goes well for Preston! I s this becoming a "normal" procedure? I am hearing of it so often recently. Or, is it an inherited trait?
Jana--I am so sorry about what happened with Sarah's late husband. That sounded like a common sense question... especially knowing that cancer cells spread. They do not need to be planted, then wonder how they metastasized. So tragic!

Chickie, I think Dr's need a reality check! They may have a degree but if they don't listen to their patients then what good are they? What a perfect spot for your truck to need help
)
Becca are you going to post a picture of your Raggedy Ann? I hope so
)
Jana, that's horrible! How awful. I think my boss would still be here if the Dr's hadn't taken months to figure out what treatment to do on her. I still miss her, she was great!
Chickie, I don't know about normal or not but she said Monday that it's quick and he'll be a little sore for a couple days, no stitches or numbing it,
( I'm not looking forward to going..... Nobody on either side of the family was tongue tied till him, weird.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 13th
Good afternoon from a very, very cold but sunny, SW. Pa..It went down to 3 last night with a high in the high teens and much the same again tonight BUT by Friday, heat wave and up in the 30s and 40s....And we have snow, not nearly as much as some of you have but it's here...Enough for the kids next door to use our yard for sledding....
Mary, so sorry to hear about the delay and boy are you right about the medical profession..And you being a nurse can really see what's happening....
We are mostly satisfied with our doc, been seeing him since he came to our area 30 years ago, but there are times.....Yesterday, Jim had a check up and I go in with him but I hate to answer all the questions and be Jim, so I made a list of things that are happening and the nurse gave it to the doc before coming in the room....1st thing on the list was Jim gets aggravated very easy, so doc spent the whole time on that, nothing else on the list was mentioned...And in the end, wrote out another RX...Like I said, we've been happy with him but I need I think we need more than, write out another RX....I did tell him, maybe I'm the one that needs the RX so I don't cause Jim's aggravation, lol....Sometimes, being part of this Frick and Frack duo is tough, lol....
Chickie, Thank you so much for the recipe, it does look good and I'm sure Kathy will love it....Her DH grows those peppers and she has done a lot with them...Your DH sounds so much like my Dad...He had ears and eyes like no other...We'd be out for a ride, him driving, and he'd spot a ground hog coming out of it's hole so far away, I would have needed binoculars...Jim also has selective hearing, he "selects" not to wear his earing aids.....Men!
Tina, that's scary about your Dad's knee...Maybe these doctors are too busy but don't you think they could take just a minute and re-think what they're doing and do it right....Sure hope and pray everything goes well with Preston...Didn't Vicky say this was done on 1 of her grand kids?.....Left over soup and sewing, does sound like a good evening for you.....
Not much happening in this household...My list is still sitting here from yesterday and so far, nothing has been checked off.....I did get 1 of the runners half done, maybe finish that today...I think my sister is hoping I make duplicates and give her a set....Might just be the nice sister and do it......
As far as dinner, that's still in the thinking stage...Was going to make chicken soup but any more chicken these days and we'll start sprouting feathers....So, what ever falls from the freezer or fridge will be called "dinner".....This could be mustgo night but I don't think there's to much that needs cleaned up....Besides my brain is frozen and I can't think but you know we won't starve......
Happy eating..........
Stay warm, stay safe.......

Last night we finished off the Navy Bean Soup that had been frozen. Tonight will be chicken, potatoes, salad and vegetable. I just can't decide how to fix the chicken. Maybe I will make it with a lemon caper sauce. That sounds good.
Most of you have already eaten and some are probably getting ready for bed as I write this. I was on earlier, but couldn't decide. I finished marking a quilt today. I need to sandwich it and get it quilted very soon! I need it finished for Valentine's weekend so it can be in the Guild Quilt Show.
Talk to you soon.

Preston had to have a couple cuts done and poor baby cried himself out. But great news, he's laughing and sticking his tongue out and eating good and the best part, he's eaten twice and hasn't choked yet! He was choking everytime he ate! Soooo happy!
