SUPPER CLUB - Mon, Jan 11th
Good Morning!
So, wasn't that a game!! poor Mary Q and her team. I almost feel badly! I DO feel badly for their kicker. So now it looks like my Hawks will be playing BECCA's Panthers next Sunday. At least Becca will have the heat on!!
CHICKIE - we couldn't get warm either, watching that game. We had a fire going and Bill kept stoking it. It got warmer and warmer in the room, but we were still freezing just watching that cold. I heard it was the coldest game even the Vikings ever played, and it was their home field!!
BECCA - Ahem - care to make a small wager? Say a FQ of your favorite color?
JANA - I can't believe Stu is 19! He's your oldest grand, isn't he?
TINA - my kids rode buses from Kindergarten on. But we only live 1/2 mile from the high school. The buses wouldn't stop within a mile of the school for the older students so my kids walked or, on rainy days, I drove them. Their last year or so, they had licenses and cars, so they drove themselves.
IRISH - I talked to my Alaskan brother, the oldest of our clan, last night. I think he said your Steelers are playing his K.C. Chiefs. I'm not sure why the Chiefs are his favorite team unless it's because we are part Indian or they were the underdogs at the time of his choosing. So anyway, I guess we'll be rooting agin you next week. you can root for them, too, if you wish . . .
I have some serious meal planning to do: My brother, Jim's surgery is Jan 22nd. It's going to be a big deal, quite serious, possibly death-defying. I am the 5th of 6 siblings and while we all live pretty far apart, except for Jim and me, we are very close in heart. So they are all talking about flying in for the surgery. This means it's time to get busy and get our fifth-wheel, aka, guest cottage, ready for company, and get several meals planned ahead of time and the pantry and freezer stocked. Because I won't want to be stuck shopping and cooking when the time comes. So my crockpot and freezer will be coming in very handy. I am happy to have more grounded things to occupy my mind than worrying about Jim.
Well, the day has come! I'm going to finally make Carol's navy bean soup. The leftovers are gone and it's time for new food. The rains are coming back today so it will be the purrfect menu. I have frozen homemade rolls I can thaw to go with. And if there's a 'need' for afters, there is still a box of chocolates left from the holidays.

Good morning,
Being the football fan, will watch any game, it's hard this year to get behind any one team. If I root for a team it will be the Chiefs or the Packers.
I haven't figured out dinner yet, but plenty of fixings in the house.
Mary - I love having all the family together, but in certain circumstances its hard. So nice for you to have a close knit family for support.
Tina - those Sues are adorable! February is closing in fast!
Yes, Stu is the oldest of tbe grandchildren. Andrew is next and he turns 10 this year. So all my grands range from 19 to newborn. Stu loves his mission and has 18 months left to serve.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from sunny but darn cold, SW. Pa...Thank goodness for the sun or I'd never have gotten out from under the electric blanket...I'm still cold from watching the "Tundra bowl" and wish we had a fire place....
Mary, we could hear you way over on this side of the country...Thought maybe Washington was having an earth quake....It was a thriller and I also felt sorry for the kicker...At least your players know how to behave themselves, not like the game on Sat. And, I think the Steelers are playing in Denver on Sun. afternoon...
Thank goodness you will have family around you for Jim's surgery..It will mean extra work but it will help ease the worry...What would we do without family.....
So tired last night (not sure why) but went to bed at 9:00 then of course laid there thinking of all I wanted to get done today...Well, here it is today and so far, striped the bed...Sure is hard trying to change a bed with a fat cat trying to help...Wore her out and she's napping now...But, I have a bunch of new fabric that is begging to be made into runners and that's on my list...Well, as soon as I take down the tree...Nicky isn't coming again until Easter and if it wasn't so big, I would leave it up....But, if it doesn't get done today, there's always tomorrow....
I'm also thinking of making chicken pot pie for dinner....It's a good meal for a cold day...If not that, chicken might end up in soup....
Happy eating......
Stay warm, stay safe.....

Hello everyone,Sunny but low 30s .Typical January weather.
Maryz Praying for DB & DSIL.Know that will be a trying time but oh so wonderful everyone is coming.Glad you have your camper for them.
I'm thinking on the wager.lol
After watching the game yesterday It made you cold.We had a house full but seeing all the breath from everyone made you freeze.Felt bad for the kicker even though. I didn't want them to win.
Yes I will be watching & rooting for my Panthers.Hope they can pull it off.And be the champ.
Have had a morning of working on machine.FINALLY got it sewing perfect.DH even got in the act.My stitches were not pretty but are now,Didn't want Raggedy Ann to fall apart.
It will be leftovers which are perfect for a cold day.Chicken n dumplings, peas, cranberry sauce ,cookies & cake.
Our DS & DDIL bought our Christmas gifts.Lots more food, lotions. & goodies. They are sure helping our grocery bill. And a gift certificate to our favorite Restaurant. So we hit the jack pot.Plus we had a great day visiting & watching the game.DS said he hit the jack pot.He loves my chickens n dumplings,Peas, Carmel cake.He thought it was all so good......Becca

Good afternoon! I didn’t see any football yesterday, but I heard about the brutal temperatures! You couldn’t PAY me to sit in those temperatures—can’t imagine PAYING for tickets!!! I know Green Bay is famous for its frozen tundra. I didn’t have to watch the game to be cold here—I was!!!
Thankfully, today is 20 degrees warmer! 40 degrees with a strong south wind that is still quite chilly… a 32-degrees “real feel”. The dogs and I walked down to see Ava, and it was a huge reunion for all—especially her… such a cutie!
Mary—I know you will rise to the task of hostess and nurse… will be thinking of you and your DB as he goes to surgery. I’m sure it will be death defying and he will come through!
Irish—I hate when I can’t go to sleep and just lay there thinking of everything that needs to be done. You’d think it would make us go right to sleep! Our silly dogs get us up at 4:00 a.m. to go potty, then they are exhausted and sleep in until 10—especially Odie. Tinker Bell and Boomer are normal risers. Chicken pot pie is delightful for a cold day!
Becca—your chicken and dumplings are also great cold-weather comfort food!
Jana—It is difficult to believe Stu is 19! When I came on the forum, he was a “kid”. My grands are 13 to 24 or 25… maybe 26… YIKES!!!
Tina—I worked on a wall hanging for DGS yesterday afternoon and forgot to watch football. I’m glad my Sues arrived!
Tonight’s dinner… It will either be some meager leftovers or Mary’s chiles relleños casserole along with some quinoa and red bean burritos with whole wheat tortilla wraps. Maybe I’ll make a cake for dessert… Guess I should start thinking seriously about what to make…
ENJOY!
