SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jan 06, 2016 3:52 am

Good Morning!

We are 39* and DRY! coming into another dry spell for about a week. Chilly, but not as cold as some of you! Did I tell you all my spring bulbs have been up for almost a month, and my daffodils are about 5" high!

Bill and I went to see Star Wars yesterday. I am not a "War-rior" (my own term - not official!). But Bill wanted to see it and I figured it was a movie best seen on the big screen and with a date. So, being such a good wife, I went along. It was OK, but I thought all the pre-release hype about it proved what a good marketing firm they hired. All I'm going to say. Unless you ask me, of course ;o)

CAROL 7 - We always take a head count at the table and hope anyone who's missing is out having a wonderful meal in a restaurant!

TINA - I think, by definition, a Super Woman, like any other hero, is one who powers through despite challenges like exhaustion, a third kid, or impending nervous breakdown! but at least you are sleeping better! Are fresh chilies still there at end of October? Do you always freeze them or have you ever tried canning them?

JANA - hey! I have some Reddi-Whip in my fridge now! I guess I'm "Reddi" to celebrate! You waxed your floors? I didn't think anyone did that anymore. My flooring instructions said NOT to wax and I'm an obedient person if nothing else!

BECCA - you and Irish and my SIL (who cares for my very sick brother) are all such shining examples of those wedding vows.. "in sickness and in health.." I've known spouses who have walked out on sick mates.

IRISH - you are right about life. If we didn't have those "curves" that get tossed to us now and then, we might forget to appreciate the blessings we receive! Will be waiting to hear the results of that ECG. Hope you get lunch AND breakfast. You deserve it!

CHICKIE and LADY CAROL - Please don't be starving! If you are, Bill will send you all our broccoli. No thanks needed, he says.

Our Yankee Dips last night were tasty, though it just occurred to me I forgot the french fries! Oh well, probably just as well. We didn't seem to go to be hungry.

Tonite's feast will be those black bean enchiladas. I finally have all the ingredients assembled. I also plan to make some lemon bars today for my brother, who LOVES them. Now that I know his surgery is far enough out (Jan 22nd) that he can get them all eaten beforehand, I'll get busy. He needs a pick-me-up and anything lemon will help with that.

Hope you have something wonderful on your plate tonite!

Good morning,

Mary - those bars are just the right prescription! As to waxing, it is jyst my generic term. I use a floor dressing that shines them up and it is temporary. It is made specifically for vinyl floors. I like shiny and just washing them left them looking dull to me. I have used two different brands, Armstrong and the one I really like id from Holloway House called Quick Shine. The quick shine works fabulously on wood too.

Dinner tonight will be a pizza.

Enjoy,
Jana

:-) Thanks Mary. I was a little overwhelmed yesterday. And then I didn't sleep last night until after 3, Winnie and Sammy ran out on Frankie at the last doggy potty break before bedtime, Sammy came right in for me when I was doing the litter box, feeding and watering amenities :-) but Winnie came to the door and then ran away, I called till almost midnight and went and laid down but tossed and turned till after 2, got up and she was at the door ready to come in, then I started to relax and fell asleep sometime after 3. Crazy cats.
Frankie has a dentist appointment today at 4 to get a few teeth fixed, he hates going to the dentist but is doing better with this one we've been seeing for a couple years now. But it's been a long drawn out process and even with our copays it's in the thousands already, but at least I know his teeth are getting fixed and he has his nice smile back :-)
Tonight's supper will be Chinese, he's going to bring it home, well hopefully anyways.
Oh, green chillies should still be available in October unless we have an early freeze. Are you going to be here then? I can do some for you, just say the word :-) I've never canned green chili because I like to be able to take 1-all out of the bag, I lay them flat and can take out however many I need at the time without any thawing.

Good very late afternoon, almost evening, from cold SW. Pa...But, today was a gorgeous day with lots of sun....

We ran today, Jim had an appointment with the Vets for his bloodwork and then we had breakfast at IHop and then we shopped....I try to keep him going as long as I can even if it's walking through Walmart....

We came home to UPS deliveries...Received another big box of food and Jim got his boxes of Boost...It was like Christmas all over....Our frig is over flowing with good stuff and I think tomorrow, Kathy is sending something else...This will be the last, we just can't handle it all, lol.....

Mary, sure will be thinking of your brother and hoping and praying things go smoothly...As Becca said, it's amazing how far medicine has come these days....

Becca, surely hoping your friend receives good news....How about if we meet and find our way to Mary's...I'm sure she wouldn't mind us sampling those lemon bars....

We had a sad call this afternoon...A young nephew passed away this afternoon from liver cancer....He was only 57, just like my Chris and leaves a wife but no children...He and my Kevin were the "jokesters" in the family...And when those 2 got together, you never knew what might happen....He's really going to be missed.....

And on that note, not sure if there's going to be dinner around here or not...With all the running, don't feel much like cooking so we might just settle for cereal or grilled cheese......

You all have a good evening.....

Good Evening Everyone!
All of you have already enjoyed your evening feasts and perhaps have even gone to bed for the night. We are awaiting the reheating of the leftover Parmesan Chicken and cooking of potatoes and peas and final prep on the salad. Sounds like I copied Monday? Well almost, I changed the vegetable, but the chicken are also leftovers.

Jana - I like my wood floors shiny and use Orange-Glo on them Really nice stuff!

Irish - Sorry for the loss of your nephew. Very difficult to lose someone. Hugs and prayers.

Becca - That is funny about changing the diaper just before the Mom comes home! lol

Tina - Good for you freezing the chilis!

Maryz - Lemon Bars sound like a curative food for sure!

Becca - The rain is welcome! The flooded spots are usually because they didn't clear the drains. We are fine.

Carol
