SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Oct 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Oct 24, 2015 3:07 am

Good Morning!

I'm on time today! Good on me! You can thank my purr-baby, Riley, for that.

HELEN - hello! Nice to have you join us at Supper Club's table! Sorry your knee is hurting, I hope it's not needing a new replacement. Those seem to be going around this year.

CHICKIE - give Boomer and Tink some get well scritches and hugs from me - and a sympathetic woof from Scottie. But I bet Odie is lapping up all the attention! What are you making for Christmas? Fabric-wise, I mean. Not food. i'll ask that later.

JANA - I'll be looking for that FQ! I LOVE Christmas anything! You get a special dispensation to eat banned food all this week!

ABITA - I really like NCIS-NOLA. Almost (but not quite!) as much as the original NCIS. We finally quit recording the L.A. version. Just never could get into it.

BECCA - Will you be sewing today?

I got another flowerbed all raked, dug up, and replanted yesterday. And I finished my small quilt top for my DDIL. It's about 66x56. Now to decide on backing. It's all Christmas dog fabric. I might give it to her for her birthday as my son called and is having a surprise party in 2 weeks for her 40th birthday. Then she can display it for the holidays.

Supper tonite? Well, we have a tub of split pea soup left but that might make good lunches. And we could have pork chops and dressing for supper with broccoli and salad. I wonder what DH thinks he wants. When he was working, he was just happy that some food was on the table when he got home. But now that he's home all day long he likes to be in on the 'big' decisions - like what he's going to eat for supper.

How's the decision making coming along at your house?

Good Evening All......todays its wet....had a lot of rain.....

sorry that I do seem to keep coming and going.....life has got busy.....that should read....busier.....just as well I am retired.....would never find the time to go out to work......

on Thursday last.....I almost met myself coming back.....off to hairdressers (do that every Thursday)then stopped off for my first drop in at the new village craft club.....think I will enjoy this....the 2 people that run it were off to buy a couple of sewing machines that afternoon....I am hoping that I will now learn how to insert a zipper.....fingers crossed......then had to dash home pick up some paperwork for the bank....catch the bus into town.....sort out finances.....pay some bills.....back home in time for our F..h and Chip van to collect our supper.....whew.....

yesterday....Sir took me to our Malvern Quilt show.....first time we had done the autumn one.....I have to say the Spring one is better....this one was a lot smaller and I wasn't able to get the Dies I wanted for my Bigshot.....but having said that.....the traders did put on a good show.......we left early....Sir still feels a bit "dicky"......so got home....fed him....watered him.....and put him back to bed with a hot water bottle and a hot toddy.....

anyway......must be feeling better today.....he was wanting to go out for breakfast......and I of course...agreed with him....well why not..

Irish.....I didn't need the suit of armour for Sirs "Man Flu"..... I had all the oil burners going....Eucalyptus in the bedrooms....and Bergamot and Lavender in the hall and lounge.....so far.. so good....

today.....for obvious reasons......I am glad to report....no menu is forth coming for today.....except for the Cinnamon and Pecan Pastries later with our coffee......
forgot to say......I have done 2 batches of Chilli for our Bonfire meet.....they are residing in the freezer....Monday.....will probably make a start on the Korma.....then another couple of batches of Chilli again towards the end of the week......thank goodness for Slow Cookers.....just have to shuffle the freezers about for room...

take care.......Lady Carol

Good late afternoon from a kind of dreary but slightly warm, SW. Pa....I just remembered, I had forgotten to come to the table yesterday but of course we didn't forget to eat....We have a visitor for the weekend...Terry, DS#4, got here about 8:00 in the morning and we really haven't stopped since....But, what a delight, just to be able to feed him.....He had mentioned doing little jobs when he visited and that list kept growing, but finally, I think we're to the end of it....He's the one going through some rough times at home but I think he has things pretty much under control...I do feel sorry for DIL, both boys have more or less decided they don't want to be a part of her life any longer...But, from the time, they were about 3, she's turned over the parenting, both mother and father to Terry, so it's no wonder....He's meeting up with some long time friends this evening and then back home some time tomorrow...I told him, I'd start another list for when he gets back at Thanksgiving.....

Mary, you really have accomplished a lot in the last couple of days...I go out, trim back a bush and call it quits...And I don't even want to think about Christmas stuff yet, although I have picked up a few things when we were in Reno....

Chickie, lots of hugs for the "patients"...Boy, I hated leaving any of the fur kids when it was time for snipping...What was funny, when one would come back from the hospital, the others would sniff and hiss and really put on a show....

Lady Carol, my heavens, talk about being busy! You lost me way back on Thursday when you caught the bus....And the mention of a zipper put me in a dither...The costume I'm making for DGS's girlfriend has a zipper down the back and I haven't done zippers for years...I keep putting it off but they need it finished by next weekend...Glad your oil burners are keeping that "man flu" away...I often check out that little booklet you had sent me...Very interesting......I also agree about the slow cookers...Along with my pressure cooker, I can whip up a meal that's edible.....

And speaking of a meal...Last night I made meat loaf, baked sweet potatoes and apple dumplings for afters.....So, tonight is left overs for Jim and I but Terry is eating out....

Happy eating...........

Good evening! Tonight will be leftover bean soup. I might do something a little different with it, but probably not. I love it just as it is, and DH is happy because he has cornbread and jam.

Doggy update: Boomer is wearing a cone of shame to keep him from chewing his stitches and his bandages on his hind legs. Did I mention they took off his dew claws? They were ripped and pretty much hanging and bleeding when he came to us. Even after they healed, they caught on everything and made him limp, so… while he was out… He was kind of bratty there and chewed up his brand new vest as well as their towel in his crate… anxiety! He really missed his mommy!!! Tinker Bell was just a nervous wreck. Thankfully, the doc found part of an ovary that had been missed and he also saved some other tissue to send for testing. I do hope she doesn’t have other problems. I think it’s because of the botched job 2 years ago by the short time partner/assistant. Poor Tinker Bell… no pond swimming for 10 days!!! That will be difficult for all of us!!! Boomer hasn’t let his collar slow him down—that tail started wagging and he was jumping when I came to pick him up, and he hasn’t stopped since he came home, except when he wanted to sit on my lap and be cuddled. Did I mention he’s a real sweetie!!! Tinker Bell was just as happy to see me and almost knocked me off my feet with her exuberance. She’s also a sweetheart!

Irish—you’re right, they have all sniffed each other, but no spitting. I took Odie with me to pick them up, and there was a major family reunion in the truck when the patients came out. I hope Terry and the boys will embrace their new life. I know you are happy to feed them and they appreciate you!!! So nice to have some things done, too!!! That’s too bad about DIL, but also sounds like she chose and made her own bed…

Lady Carol—I just love your British phrases!!! I love how you put Sir to bed with a hot water bottle and a hot toddy, too! I grew up with hot water bottles for feet warmers in winter. I never see them now. So glad you got to go to the quilt show!!! A small show is better than no show at all!!!

Becca—what sweet memories of your mom! Mom and I had a good visit today. She was perky and enjoyed the bean soup and cornbread I took for her lunch. I sat and talked with her as she ate.

Mary—mostly I’m making table runners of various styles and potholders of all types. I will have pictures…

Enjoy your evening!
