SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Oct 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Oct 16, 2015 3:40 am

Good Morning!

I'm on the run this morning - no pun intended. Scottie seems better and so do I. I hope we both stay that way. Did I tell you he and I were sharing some of the same symptoms? And there was really only one symptom! lol!

One thing on Home-Ec - I LOVED my course! It was very complete. In cooking we took it from planning all kinds of meals, shopping field trips, to cooking everything from breakfast to company suppers, desserts, main dishes, veggies, etc. We cooked it all. We even learned how to take apart a gas stove and clean it thoroughly! In sewing, we all made at least 5 complete outfits, my last was a lined suit with collar and bound buttonholes. At the end of the year we put on a fashion show for the school. But I know that was very unusual.

We are off this morning after my appt and after getting a call from Scottie's doctor with his lab results. He MAY need another Rx so we will wait to hear from her before we go. We'll be wine-tasting with friends in Yakima - on the east side of the mountains. We will be home Tues or Wed.

And supper will be waiting for us when we get there! Our friends are making beef stew for us tonite. Tomorrow night will be on us - shredded BBQ pork sandwiches, french fries, and salad. Another night I have the makings for an Italian chicken casserole. So we won't be starving while we are gone!

And I hope you all won't starve either!

"See" you next week!

Good morning! I had a delightful lunch yesterday with Lyn/WeeOne and Gary yesterday—time passed way too quickly before they had to be on the road again on their way to Texas. Hope to catch them on the return trip if possible.

Irish—our sewing teacher in 7th grade was an old maid, but our class was pretty much identical to the Singer classes you used to get with a machine. We had little notebooks with samples of all the different seams we made, hand buttonholes, hand embroidery, curved seams, scallops… Mom had her notebook from her Singer class, and it was indistinguishable from mine. I swear this woman could only teach the basic course and teach it WELL. I had her in senior high school, and she couldn’t do anything advanced and her cooking was a JOKE!!! In senior class, before I dropped it, my friends smuggled their projects out of class and came to Mom for her to help them. They got As and learned more from Mom than from the teacher. My cooking teacher had one daughter, and we heard all about her in our classes. Still, we learned an amazing amount of basics including making cheese soufflés. If she hadn’t retired, the next year would have been cakes and breads (baking). I couldn’t wait to be in 9th grade only to find that she retired. For some reason I didn’t take the second class.

Mary—I sure hope Scotty is feeling better!!! That’s no fun at home and probably worse (smelling) in a confined space of the truck cab. Talk about “Eeewwwww!”

Tina’s carne asada last evening was delicious! I know DH was surprised, and he thought it did a super job of taking tough meat and making it edible… actually tender! I admit that I did add some meat tenderizer to the bag. We are talking meat that was like shoe leather, and I don’t mean Italian shoe leather!!!

Tonight… I think there is enough of the carne asada for DH, and I’ll probably have a salad with a packet of deliciousness over it for my protein.

Enjoy!

Hello ladies,Still nippy but sun is shining so it will warm.

I wish My home ec teacher would have been so great. She did teach us the basic stitches in hand sewing.,French seams, curved seams.& buttonholes. Our sewing was limited to one garment.

Chickie Glad you got to meet up with Lynn & Her DH.That is great that meat can become so tender. The meat tenderizer does wonders I think but would be better with herbs & spices.

I have a big pot of chili cooking. And I made cranberry salad yesterday. We love to have that to eat on & it has so much fruit in it too plus celery.Enjoy your Dinner....Becca

Maryz Sure hope you & Scottie are better on the trip.Could be a problem in a camper. We were camping once & our DS ate too many chocolate kisses. We were in Hersery PA.It wasn't fun for him or us.lol

Good late morning from semi sunny and slightly chilly, SW. Pa....This is going to be our "cold" weekend and would you believe, there was a hint of that 4 letter word...Come on, this is only October......

Mary, sure hoping and praying, you and Scottie are both back to feeling normal real quick....You really do love your furbaby when you share their symptoms, lol......Sounds like you're going to have another exciting trip..How about having a sip of the grape for me......

I also need to run....Right now, I'm making Jim's lunch, then need to jump in the shower and get going....Have an appointment with the "slice and dicer" and then hopefully, a quick trip to JoAnns (since it's almost next door).....Tonight, DGS, Dan and his girl are coming down to start her costume.....

As far as dinner, probably pizza or left over beef tips....Just never know what might show up on our table.....

Happy eating.....................
