SUPPER CLUB - Tues, July 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jul 13, 2015 6:06 pm

AHEM, LADIES!! I am gone one day - one measly day! And out comes the f--h, the beets, and the road trip plans to my stash! Wow! Maybe I need to return home - or at least tell you I have - so I can be on guard! You know, I DO have a water pistol and I know how to use it!

CHICKIE - fresh corn! Please drop a bucket by my house while you're stealing my fabric!

IRISH - you're in cahoots with chickie?? No wonder you're straying to the dark side! Well, then, maybe one of those steaks in your freezer will go nicely with my brand new corn. I'm sure Jim won't mind! No zucchini though, please. I had some in 2009 and I'm full now. Of zucchini.

JANA - I thought you'd be the voice of reason, but you're offering to shelter The Gang at your Hideout! Who knew the "Hole in the Wall" was in Herriman!?

BECCA - I believe this leaves you to be the voice of reason. How's that working for me???

ABITA - Maybe with your yummy spaghetti, you can lure these hooligans down your way instead!

As for our supper - let's see . . . The plan today is to go to Hyder, AK/Stewert, B.C. (which are technicallly the same town but merely divided by an international border) and go watch the bears fish in the river from platforms constructed over the river for just that pupose. Then back to our campsite for our own dinner, raw gnawed on salmon not appealing to me. DH, as always, has some say, but I'm thinking it's time to eat up the polenta I bought some time back. Those 'Best By . . ." dates dont' mean anything, do they? We'll have polenta parmesan, I think. and peas. Veggie pickings are slim as we have no fresh food. There have been some produce stands, but I came prepared with canned and frozen fruits and veggies, so that's what we're eating. I almost miss salad!!

Hope you're not missing anything yummy tonite

Good morning,

Mary - there is a sign in Winnemucca Nevada, not too far from here, it reads, Butch Cassidy left here rich, so can you! Humm, Herriman is a good hideout, lots of canyons and mountains! Tee-hee! Here between Michael and me - we have a saying, used enough dynamite there Butch - from the movie, especially when do something with over kill!

Dinner - some pasta dish - I have fresh eggs, so I think I will make some linguine for dinner tonite. A simple sauce, but don't know quite yet - it is still breakfast here!

Enjoy!
Jana

Good morning from a very sunny, getting warmer, gorgeous, SW. Pa....Had some rain over night but today looks great.....

WOW, Mary, 2 days in a row! Are you really on the road or hiding out in the trees in your back yard? Jim would probably share his steaks BUT, don't try to touch the goodies..As you "guard" your stash, Jim guards anything that is sweet (doesn't include me)....And, you know Becca could be influenced to participate in the "Stash Gang's" activities...I can zip right down and pick her up....Now we have to figure out a way to watch out for those water guns....

Not much happening, once again, in this household...Another morning with a heavy head and scratchy throat..Has to be the allergies and why at my age...Never had allergies until I turned 70, grrrr....
If I can get the eyes working, I might work on my hand quilting...If not, I'm sure there's something that I can find to get into...

Last night's dinner ended up being Subways and corn...Once again, on the way home from Walmart, car zipped into their parking lot....So, tonight will be the zucchini (Mary's favorite) chili and a salad....
I thought about the raw gnawed salmon but guess I'll stick with the chili.....And, breaking down and baking some banana/nut bread.....

Happy eating.................

I’m here at the table… late as always!

Hot dogs found their way to our plates last night along with corn on the cob and potato salad. They may be there tonight as well… on the other hand, maybe I’ll go get the enchiladas for a change. We may go pick some more corn when DH returns from his meeting.

Mary—I’ll gladly trade you corn for fabric!!! Yes, I fear that Irish and I just can’t help ourselves… love the dark side… dark chocolate for starters… dark fabric storage places… You stay safe and don’t worry about us!!!

Irish—I’d take a zucchini when you come by! I grate it and hide it in meat chili and DH never knows the difference. I could put it in chili verde sauce, too. Then there are fried zucchini and zucchini pancakes… (both of those are only for me). DH and Jim are alike—sweets junkies!

Becca—the more the merrier! I’m sure the stash is big enough for all of us to share!!! I’ll bring corn! DS plants a LOT of it, and I know where there’s more that we can get as well.

Jana—it’s hard for me to plan dinner if I haven’t had brunch yet, either. We’ve eaten (steel cut oatmeal), so we’ll be hungry for dinner.

Abita--that's too hot!!! Do you have high humidity too?

Enjoy!
