SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jul 02, 2015 4:24 am

Good Morning!

today is my DGS's 18th birthday. He's such a cool, adult kid. I love him to pieces! He plans to be a chef and always makes his own birthday cakes! And he's making one for Bill's birthday celebration tomorrow, too!

My DB, Jim, and SIL, Terry, (she made the DR WHO quilt a couple of months ago and is a silent member of our forum) are traveling in Alaska right now. They have their 48 yo DD and 3 grandsons with them who were traveling in a separate vehicle. Their DD fell yesterday and crushed her wrist and is having surgery in Soldatna today. Screws and plates will be utilized in trying to put her back together again. OUCH! Their travel plans are changing hourly. so if you have a spare prayer, you might offer up one for them. My brother has advanced Parkinson's and my SIL's plate is overloaded. She drives the motorhome, cares for Jim, and now has responsibility for their 3 grandsons, their injured DD, and keep everyone fed and on their meds. fortunately, my niece's husband is flying up there tomorrow and he will take a huge load off her. They haven't even made it up to FBX yet to see the rest of our family.

We had quite a full table here yesterday! Glad to see no one is going hungry! with the heat (93*), it's hard to think of cooking, and so I don't think I will. another big salad tonite and I believe we'll add a grilled cheese sandwich. and eating out on our shady deck is a given! Too hot in the house!

I hope you all are staying cool! IRISH, I know you are! sorry 'bout that!

Oh my goodness Mary, yes for sure prayers being said for your niece. How awful!
I have to clean my kitchen before I can even think about supper tonight, I had no energy last night to clean after cooking and it was pretty much a simple meal. I really think I was worn out for worrying about Frankie, he was really upset. He received a letter about his cost of living increase and it starts out saying thdey would like to inform him his cost of living is 0% and then says This increase is a recognition of your outstanding efforts, then tells him our insurance is going up so he'll have that much less in each check. then the last paragraph says: "The City of Deming values your contribution. We are fortunate to have someone like you in our team. Congratulations and best of luck in the future." He was so upset, like a kick in the teeth! Thanks for working your butt off and coming in on your vacation days and days off to work but we feel like you deserve nothing?! He went and asked his foreman yesterday why he doesn't even get the 1 1/2% that the previous letter said he would and he was told that he's maxed out on his pay so it won't ever go up. When he was hired there was no topped out pay, everyone got a cost of living increase which of course doesn't even match the gas increase but it's better then nothing. The previous City Administrator write down what he thought the max everyone should make is and Frankie was over it by 15 cents then. Ridiculous! He won't make his required retirement payments because of this. Ugh. I know TMI TMI But I'm so upset for him! Really makes him feel bad.

Good afternoon,

I have four of my little gremlins here for the night and all day tomorrow. They would like to have tacos for dinner - easy! Breakfast in the morning will be buttermilk scratch pancakes and dinner tomorrow night when their parents are back will be chicken cacciatore over polenta.

So I am set!

The last of the projects in the kitchen are getting done - the floor - looks great - can't find where the patches are and my new hood vent is being installed as I type! Just the tile - next week I think.

Enjoy,
Jana

I decided on smothered burritos, guacamole and salad.
Gosh I'm having a bad day.

We didn't go hungry here. I picked up Chinese carry out on my way home from a trip to the LQS for my BOM and Row by Row then the really long way around to see Mom. I had to guard the food from Odie while I pumped gas. Maybe he was guarding them from a robber and I misread his little black and white intentions... this is the doggie that rips open baggies of treats if left unattended and once ate a Meta bar while I was in the store. I don't think I misread anything...
