SUPPER CLUB - Wed, June 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jun 10, 2015 3:45 am

Good Morning all y'all!

We are cooling off a bit today. Only going to about 77* today. A pleasant change. We may even get some rain by early next week. We need it.

My massage yesterday was great. But then even a bad massage is great! I brought home a quilt I made 4 yrs ago for his massage table. In the places where he massages the most through the quilt, he's worn it clear through the batting! He wanted to know if it could be mended. Time for me to get creative with some big patches!

I'm meeting a friend for coffee this morning and then I'll get busy thinking on those patches. Hoping to hear good news on our truck today as our regular mechanic is back to work. I didn't mention that our Honad walk-behind lawnmower is also in the shop with a blown transmission. They, also, quoted us a ridiculously high price for repairs. Bill called Honda and they said we still had two more years on the warrenty! he called the shop back and they were like, "Oh, OK." We bought the mower there only a few years ago and they should have known this. We think they were going to try to charge us and then charge Honda for warranty work. So still waiting for that to be fixed, too. But can't pick it up until our truck is fixed. and so it goes.

IRISH - haha! you made a funny! You "have to be in the right FRAME of mind to paint the door FRAME". My chuckle for the day. With all those errands yesterday did you get to turn in someplace for a bite?

TINA - did you get any sleep last night? Do sleepytime type teas help you?

CHICKIE - I've never had a portabella steak, but they are a big thing here for grilling. I like the black bean burgers from Morning Star.

LORI - did you find anything tempting in the freezer yesterday?

JANA - maybe your quilt giving you so much trouble is a manifestation of your subconcious having a hard time letting Stu go away for two years . . . Or it cold just be one of those quilts!

JOANNE - How many Pringles were there at dinner last night? BTW, are you related to the Potato Chips?

BECCA - you're skating on the edge - you know, I CAN read between the T and the A in your post . . . .

I think tonite will be homemade pizza. I still have half a cooked chicken breast to use up. It will be either BBQ sauce or pesto, not sure which yet. and a salad. I also have some Canadian bacon and pineapple open, so maybe I'll make a half'n'half pizza or two pizzas . . .

If you're in the mood for pizza, stop in! We love company!

Good luck with the truck. It seems like getting something repaired these days is tricky. Maybe because we have become a throw-away society. The appliance repair guy we have is great but he's rare it seems.

We had fish last night. Not sure about tonight but I need to get on the pizza dough for tomorrow. The grandkids will be here and they like pizza for lunch and that means DH gets calzones for supper.

In the meantime, I need to go to the store. Still trying to decide about stopping at Joann's today. If DH goes, that's a no. He doesn't mind waiting on me but I don't like feeling rushed which is what happens when he's waiting.

Have a great day!

Lori

Good morning,

Mary - glad that Bill called Honda! That quilt is one of those that are just bad! If I drank, the bottle would have been emptied! LOL I finally succeeded and it is done! Sarah will load it on the frame this afternoon. We were able to use my LQS' s day of 30 percent off of finished tops. They discount your backing fabric, when you bring in the finished top.

Dinner tonight is noodles. Sarah made the broth and I will make the noodles this afternoon.

Rain is here - remmants of a hurricane, so we will have afternoon fireworks and bowling tournaments in the sky.

Enjoy,
Jana

I hope your truck is a not expensive fix Mary. So glad Bill called Honda, that was kinda shady for them not to say there'd be no charge because we know it's still under warranty. You'd think they would've looked that up, or like you said maybe they did and thought they'd get paid twice.
Lori, calzones sound so yummy! Have an extra bite or 2 for me :o)
Jana, that's a really cool way to get a discount :o)
Becca, pizza too! Whaaaaaa Whaaaaaaa LOL You all are so mean ;o)
While ALL of you except Jana are enjoying MY pizza, I'll be eating our hamburger patties with gravy, potatoes in some form for Frankie....he might like smashed and a salad. And get this.....this is the meanest! I get to make a german chocolate cake from scratch so rankie can take it to work tomorrow for a co-workers birthday....don't ya-all think that is just totally messed up?! LOL maybe I'll take enough batter out and make me a baby cupcake :o) I should get something out of the deal, don't ya think?!
Happy eating :o)

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, gorgeous, purrrrrrfect, SW. Pa...Can't get much better....

Mary, thank goodness Bill called Honda....As Becca said, you really need to be on your toes these days....Also, hope the word is good on the truck repairs....I think my painting urge left me for a day or so but maybe next week, I'd be in that "frame" of mind...

Lori, the other day, you mentioned you were from the Pgh. area...I'm in N. Huntingdon, originally from Greensburg, where were you from? And our Pirates have lost the last 2 games...Just last night a young whipper snapper pitched a great game and beat them....Oh well, we'll get em tonight....Calzones, boy does that sound good...Might have to add that to my list....

This morning I spent doing some errands...Dropping stuff off at GoodWill, getting gas for the mower and then off to Walmart...On the way home, the car turned into McDonalds and I was only going to get a peach/ice/tea but ended up with sandwiches and Jim was happy....Not sure what might happen for dinner...We haven't chicken on the grill for awhile so that might be a thought....If I was with it, I'd make some potato salad but not sure if my "with it" is up to it....

AND remember how I used to talk about my Mr. Schwan??? Well, he's going to be in the neighbor hood next week and I've left a message to stop....Now is that something to be excited about or what! And being summer, he'll probably will be in shorts....The food is really good and the eye candy is just as good..lol.....

Off to find my "with it" and do something, even if it's wrong....

Happy eating.................

Good afternoon!

It’s too hot to cook here, so it will be warm ups of left overs plus a salad. DH will get steak, and I’ll have some spaghetti red.

Mary—I’m sure you will come up with some neat appliqués. My portabella was DELICIOUS! I had one earlier in the week as a “burger”. I like the bean burgers, too. I like pizza… especially with pineapple!

Lori-calzones… yum!!! I’m always starving when I read everyone’s posts.

Jana—I haven’t made any noodles in awhile… another goodie!

Becca—not lazy, just thrifty with your time… more for sewing!

Tina—I think a little cupcake is in order… portion control! I haven’t made German chocolate cake from scratch—I just reach for the box.

Irish—I wondered if you were still seeing Mr. Schwan… ‘tis the season for those cute shorts… You’ll have to let us know if the eye candy is still delicious!

Time to go work on my LUB blocks for this week. Just need to finish before the new ones are posted.

Enjoy!

Sorry, I have been “Hit or Miss” here at the dinner table.
I just either get here too early in the morning, or I miss out all together.
Some days I don’t even get over to Chit Chat.

Maryz: OMG! That’s terrible on the mower! Why would they try to cheat you like that!
Makes you wonder sometimes about this shops!

It is so hot this week, I hate to even think of cooking. Monday night a group of couples got together and went out to eat. Monicals has a “manager’s special” every Monday night. All you can eat and it includes the pizza, salad, bread sticks and dip and your drink.Yummmmm!

Last night, I did Johnsonville Beddar Cheddar Brats for DH and Hot Dogs for me. It was too hot to even start up the grill, so I did them in the skillet. They were quick and just as good.

If we decide to go back out and fish again tonight, I will do the same menu again tonight. It is quick and simple, and not many dishes to do.

When I can take a little time to cook and actually feel like cooking, I have a recipe from Betty Crocker web site for individual meat loaves wrapped with bacon and grilled (with indirect heat).
I made up the loaves (actually more the shape of burgers) and froze them. I like to use ground turkey and it is so moist and sticky to work with, that it is better to freeze them first, then put them on the grill frozen. Still thinking what kind of potato to do with them.

Tomorrow night is dance night. I am going to talk DH into getting a quick sandwich at McD’s on the way. I won’t have to twist his arm too hard, I don’t think so anyway.

Well, good to see all of you today. Hope to be back again tomorrow.

Velda

HUGS, 💕 Vel

Becca - love having the grands here. They wear me out but that's a good thing. They still haven't quite figured out that both on my lap is crowded.

Tina - I'll be sure to do that. They are good and it's easy to customize them so everyone gets the fillings they like.

Irish - I'm originally from Washington. Tons of family still there. I'm the only one who left. Ex's family is from Johnstown area so Greensburg is familiar too. I haven't seen a Schwan truck in a long time. The ice cream guys, right? Dang they have some good stuff. Expensive but good. We usually had a heftier guy.

Velda - What kind of dance? I'd love to get DH to dance night but that just ain't gonna happen.

Lori
