SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, June 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jun 09, 2015 3:58 am

Good Morning!

Another more than beautiful day here today! But someone has GOT to do some uglies around here pretty soon. And as I look around at the stuff scattered here and there, it's not my DH who is being so messy. . . Don't you just hate that! lol!

so besides uglies, and maybe a little sewing (Christmas swap is up and running!) I have a massage appt this afternoon. I'm hoping he can fix the pulled muscle in my neck/shoulders. If not, I may have to lay off uglies all together!!

IRISH - so good to have a back-up table-setter! Is your painting done now? Talk about an UGH-ly!

TINA - Even when Frankie is in his "fat days" he is still skinny. I hate him. (not really - just teasing. He's a cutie and a sweetie.)

LORI - calzones! What a great idea for a not-hot day!

JANA - I could go for some of that turkey! We know a few Hudsons. It's a popular name right now. I've known girls named Alberta canada and Merry Christmas!

BECCA - I like medium spicy food. I like a bit of a kick to it, but not so much that I can't really taste the food, but only feel the heat. It usually doesn't affect me either, for which I'm grateful!

Bad news on our truck, but we're hoping for better. The mechanic who worked on it is off until Wed so they had someone else, who didn't know our history work on it and he declared that we need a new clutch and fly wheel - for another $4,000. Even the service mgr thinks that can't be right as we just had this done 16 months ago, so he asked us to wait until our regular guys comes back to look at it. Well, our plan is to leave on our Oregon trip in 8 days, so it needs to be fixed before that with enough time to do a little test driving before pulling our 12,000# trailer 400 miles each way. but if it costs $4,000 then there goes our travel money! I think this is called being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. And the tide is coming in!!

I didn't get to make our chef's salad last night. My DB's & SIL's daughter and family are visiting them from Las Vegas so we were invited over to their house for ham and baked potatoes. it was an enjoyable evening, plus I still have my supper plan in place for tonite - that salad. No heating up the kitchen here.

What's your best idea for tonite's supper? Or your second best?

Good morning from sunny, but slightly cooler, SW. Pa...Not complaining, it is a gorgeous morning.....And later in the week. we'll be in the high 80s maybe even into the low 90s....But, can we really believe those weather people????

Oh Mary, hate to hear about the truck problems...BUT, thank goodness you're getting it taken care of before you start out on your trip...But, gosh darn, all that money, just not fair! My windows are painted and I couldn't be happier....Now I'm thinking, it makes the counter top look bad...........I still have the frame around the outside door and that has a lot of trimming so I have to be in the right frame of mind to do it....

Not sure what's on the schedule for today, probably not too much...I just might have to do some shopping...I need floss from JoAnn's, cat food from Petsmart and who knows what else I can add to that list.....Might be able to talk Jim into a day out and about.....

As for out dinner, if we're here, it will be left over spaghetti and meatballs...It was good last night so will be much better the 2nd time around............

Happy eating................

Mary ;o) I hate him too LOL the little nurkey! LOL You should see all the snacking he does.....I think it's sinful! hehehe I keep trying to fatten him up, just doesn't work unless the weather is cool. He says he weighs the same 135 but his waist has shrunk. I wish I weighed 135! Then I could complain that me waist has shrunk LOL

We got glorious rain last night! It kept me up half the night but I'm ok with that! I only had to water a couple things that are under awnings so my morning outside was mostly just walking around enjoying the cool freshness!

I laid hamburger out to thaw, not sure what I'm going to do with it. Frankie actually told me last week that he was gonna turn into Mexican food if he ate it anymore LOL NEVER thought I'd hear those words pass his lips! I might do hamburger patty's with gravy and make him some potatoes (put some fat back around his tummy) green beans and a salad. Sounds like a plan to me :o)

Mary - There was a time when working on a car under the shade tree saved a person a ton of money. Nowadays, few can do that and it's hard to find a good mechanic you can trust. I always feel worse after paying a car repair bill than after I buy a car.
It's only 71 here. It won't stay that way so I'll not complain.

Irish - I need to hit Joann's sometime this week too. I love spaghetti the second night.

Tina - Hamb gravy sounds good.

Going to root through the freezer and see what I can find then go get lost in my building room. I'll get the blocks finished and hopefully get a good start putting the top together. I'm moving really slow on this one. It seems like I've been making blocks forever.

Later Ladies,

Lori

Good morning!

I am trying - notice the word trying to get Stu's quilt top sewn - I have ripped more seams in the first columns than there are blocks! UGGGH!!! Time to step aside, before I throw it to kingdom come!

Dinner - it is still in the freezer - I have tons to grill - it is about 85 outside right now and it is only a little after 10 am. We will be in the 90's later in the day and no rain today - but tomorrow is a different story - another tropical depression is heading up from the Gulf of California, so more rain in the next few days. My lawn needs it and it sure does help the water bill! Free water - I can go for that!

Enjoy!
Jana

Oh yes, I get another grandbaby in December - Daniel will be a dad then - now just to get him married! The little buzzard!

Update - I got the quilt sort of assembled - just need to sew the rows across - it is hanging on the design wall so I can see if I made any glaring mistakes. My hats are off to those who have done the barn raising layout - I must be dyslexic! I kept flipping the blocks - but I finally got it together - not one of my happier quilts - the blocks are square - but the block seams will not match up anyway I try - never do a non-QIAD pattern in a hurry!

Today is a nice day...not too hot or humid, but Irish is right, the rest of the week will be hot and humid...ugh.

Tonight we go to Mama's Grill with the Pringle family...last night was cancelled due to bad weather, which didn't happen! lol!

Good afternoon! DH is at a meeting, and I've been working on one of the LUB blocks... I never thought I'd learn to hate Y seams, but this block has been my undoing (literally--seam ripper in hand). I finished it, and as El says... drive by at 25 mph... it doesn't look so bad.

We are at 90 (higher heat index) and chances of thundershowers, but there's not a cloud in the sky.

I'm on a roll sewing, so I think DH will receive a steak and baked sweet potato with a salad. I have more cherry cobbler... did I say that Sunday afternoon we picked more cherries, and I made two more batches of jam and a cobbler. I think I'll have a portabella mushroom for my "steak". I had one last night for a "hamburger". I like them better than meat.

Mary... that's terrible about your truck repair costs!

Lori--DH can work on his '50 Chevy pick up under the shade tree, but the rest of the vehicles are too complicated... too much computerization.

First I'm going to take the dogs and let Ava out for her "chores" then back to the sewing den...

Enjoy!

It must be a seam ripping day. Ugggh

I'd love to have an old truck. I really don't like new ones all that much. Some features are nice but being able to change the oil is nice too.
