SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, June 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jun 04, 2015 3:31 am

Good morning!

The sun is up, the birds are on the wing, and it's daylight in the swamp! And now you know the lilting song my parents woke me up with every morning of my youth!

IRiSH - Your visual of me at the LQS is just about spot on! lol!!So sorry about the two funerals. It must be hard for you to attend those. But hopefully the thought of another wedding in your family can take the edge off that. Just think - TWO wedding quilts? will there be quilts?

TINA - glad you're feeling well enough to mow the lawn, but I'm still sorry you're doing it! Hope you have a riding lawn mower! I'm sure Bill would let me mow the parts of the grass where he uses the 'walk-behind', but he reserves all the tractor mowing for himself and "Scout" (our tractor). Didn't you make red chili meat for us? YUM!

JANA - Hope you are out buying fabric again soon! If you run short, you can come 'shop' in my stash!

VELDA - I've found the same problem with FQ's. Especially after washing, they can get "wee-wah". sometimes I can stretch them to square them up and save a little bit of the fabric that I would otherwise have to cut off.

CHICKIE - you are indeed cheap labor. Doyal got a jewel when he married you!! I hope today is bib day for you!

BECCA - how many more shrubs do you have? and what kind are they? I feel for you going through everything in your bedroom. That's what I did last week - and it took me 3 days! and i wasn't even getting new furniture.

SONYA - that's a new dish to me! Is there a sauce that you make for your pork meatballs? (I'm not going to try to spell the correct name!)

Supper! What shall it be? I've been in the mood for chili relleno casserole with refried beans. So maybe that's what I'll make before it gets too hot again to heat up the oven. We'll be about 72* today but going to 86* by the weekend - when we'll be grilling outside.

Did everyone remember to enter the QIAD drawing for June? I tried, but got an ERROR screen and was directed to try later. Maybe today I can get in.

Good morning from a semi sunny, getting warmer, SW. Pa...So far, the non sun has made the mood of the day even gloomier but it's going to get better.....

Mary, If you ever get the urge to mow grass with a "walk behind" mower, come on over...Jim would be more than happy to hand over that "toy"..And, you're right about those funerals...Just walking into the funeral home did a number on me....Both these people were elderly, which does make it better but.....Have to remember that memorial card, "Miss me but let me go"....
And of course there will be quilts...I haven't yet heard when DGS's wedding will be but I'm thinking, they won't wait long...He's already bought their house...
Chili relleno, isn't that what Tina is going to make for me when I stop at her house? One of these days.............

Becca, I would love to see your yard, it sounds purrrfect....Good for you, getting new furniture but I sure don't envy you going through every thing...I've decided to get a new side table for the living room and just cleaning out the old one was a job...For years, Jim taped every ND win plus other tapes that we'll never be able to use...But, there they were....Of course the ND tapes will be kept and packed away some where else, lol....

I've decided today will be a good day to head for the garden...So, hoe in hand, I'm off to tackle the weeds and show them who's boss...I'm so excited, I have green tomatoes and the deer haven't found the beans yet.....

For our dinner, I'm thinking the real mac n cheese and a sandwich.....And the baker is on strike today, back to graham crackers.....

Happy eating...............

Mary, yes it is a push mower, really wore me out! Our backyard is too full of "things" for the riding mower to get in there. The things are my flower beds, rose bushes, trees, grape arbor, gazebo, bushes, hammock and flower pots :o) My front yard is all open though and that's where I ride the mower :o) And yes I did make red chile meat when you were here :o) it was yummy! :o)
Irish, yep I'm making you chile rellenos when you come down :o) but until then I think I'll make some tonight to go with the leftover red chile meat and a salad and that will be supper :o)
We're getting low again on green chile, this year we're going to roast a bag and a half, I don't like running out :o)

Good afternoon! Today is bib day in a bit... first I have to go check and see what I can thaw quickly for dinner. It will be a peace offering... I went to the LQS for my BOM and that was only a small bit of what jumped into my bag... FQS on sale! Finish the boltS on sale! Other SALE fabrics! And a couple of pieces not on sale... I better figure out a feast for tonight!!! I love that little shop! MaryZ will tell you it is a fun, fun place!!!

Irish--we use the push mowers in town. They are much easier to load and maneuver for the yards there. At present we are only doing one yard. In past summers we have had 5 plus our own. DH has a rider for home.

Tina--I just read you are pushing your mower, too. It's good exercise--just hard to breathe with the humidity and the extra pounds I'm packing. I want to come visit and have you show me all your cooking! I do love chilies...

Becca--DH knows I'm a jewel... as long as I make him big, fluffy biscuits... He's so funny. He said he told the girls at his office that he was going to marry me because of my biscuits. He's such a sweetie!

O.K. ...off to the freezer, then to the sewing of bibs!
