SUPPER CLUB - Tues, June 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jun 02, 2015 2:55 am

Good Morning!

It started early for me, thanks to Scottie-Dog. He started bouncing on top of me, whining, at 0400. I don't know how DH can sleep through it, and I'm debating on whether or not I'll forgive him for that! But at least I get an early start on supper! lol!

JANA - the photos of you that Teresa posted are awesome! You look younger every day, I think! What is your secret? I loved your term, "pulled an Irish"!

TINA - I love hearing about all your Southwest dishes. I love chilies in almost anything. But my chilies come from a can. You would probably shudder!

IRISH - we took our wool blanket off the bed, but we have a mattress warmer if we get chilly. But it's more the weight of the blanket that I miss, than it's actual warmth.

BECCA - kohlrabis are great eaten raw, but I hear some people cook them. They are similiar to a turnip, but taste WAAY better! The inside is white, but the outside is either pale green or purple, depending on the variety. and if you let them get too big, they get woody and fibrous, so the best ones are the size of a tennis ball (or maybe a tangerine sounds more tasty.)

VELDA - your quilt was beautiful! I loved the bright colors and the uneven strips. There was always something to feast the eyes on!

CHICKIE - you reminded me I have a giant sweet potato that we are still eating on. It was the size and shape of a GIANT egg plant! Never seen such huge sweet potatoes. We've had two suppers from it already and it's only half gone. I love dutch babies. I have a recipe that calls for maple sausage and peaches inside it.

Today is the first day of the semi-annual 40% everything sale at my fave LQS! I will be there when those doors open, you can bet! I have a list this year so I won't be just grabbing and buying. Well, I'll be doing some of that, too. I have a big gift certificate from Bill from my birthday and plan to use every cent of it and more! It's my stock-up day!

Now on to supper - I was planning on spaghetti tonite, but since Chickie reminded me of my giant sweet potato and Irish reminded me that I have a meatloaf in the freezer and had planned to have that on our chilly, rainy day (which is today) that will be it! and a salad. Can't forget the rabbit food! The leftover meatloaf will go into spaghetti sauce for tomorrow!

Bon appetit`!

I'm planning on not eating much if any. I don't feel good. I felt kinda yucky yesterday all day but just figured it was because our temperatures were going up so much, today 98*! I don't know but think I'm just laying low today. Campbell's soup will most likely grace our table tonight.

Good morning,

Maryz - now don't have too much fun! I could use a stash enhancer trip!

Tina - hope you feel better quick - heat wears me out too,

Dinner - something out on the grill and eating on the deck. It is a beautful day out there. We will get in tbe 90's, but it is a dry heat, so it only feels about 80.

The uglies think they have taken over, but I have my whip and chair out and gaining ground in taming them.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good late morning from a still dark, dreary, overcast, chilly, SW. Pa...Not a nice June day but will get better, I'm sure....I'm not complaining (just a tad), today is purrrrfect for inside stuff and I'm actually thinking of painting the window frames in the kitchen...The new windows are white and my trim is wood (old) and I'm thinking white would be good....Years ago, Jim wouldn't have liked the idea, now, he'll just say, here's the paint, lol.....After 60 years, I'm finally getting him broken in.....
Last night I was thinking of grabbing the old electric blanket out of the cubby hole...I was back in my flannel jammies with Baby Girl snuggling extra close......

Mary, You know Scottie was only thinking of your busy day when he jumped on you in the middle of the night....He sure didn't want you to be late for the sale...You gals with quilt shops near by are so lucky, all of mine have closed...

Tina, hate to hear you're not feeling up to par...But, maybe you just need a day to "lay low", have a "me" day....But, just a day or so, can't be wasting all those vacation days on not feeling good....

Jana, I see you have your car trained also....With mine, I just never know where we might end up or what we might be eating, lol...Glad to see you have your chai and whip in hand, hate for those uglies to get the upper hand....

Becca, I've heard of Kohlrabies, have never eaten them but after Mary's description, I'm going to have to look into it...I love eating raw veggies....

Well, I didn't get the ground beef out of the freezer so the meat loaf didn't happen at this house...But, I did find some frozen left over lasagna and we had that with garlic bread....For tonight, I put stew in the crock pot and I'll have to think about baking something...Those store bought cookies and graham crackers on satisfy so long.................

Happy eating.............
