Introducing myself
I should probably intro myself....
I and DH are retired, the kids have all moved out, and to keep peace, I try to spend a couple of hours in my sewing room, (formerly a sons room) every day. I stop in here every now and then and read posts. We live in Ohio but spend time in the summer in KY.
I quilt, sew, crochet, knit.... all of it some time or other and have at least 1 project in progress in each. I'm sure most of you can relate. I'd like to learn to tat some day. My first quilt was a king sized QIAD Log Cabin about 12/14 years ago. I had it quilted professionally because my little machine just couldn't handle it. It's still on my bed and I still love it. I've made a few others over the years. I made my daughter a Winning Hand quilt when she was a teenager. She picked out the fabrics. She took it with her when she got married a few years ago. The oldest son has requested a quilt for Christmas so that is my current quilt project.
I've never done applique so I would like to learn to do that and to make quilts that are more creative. I figured this might be the place to get inspiration, encouragement, and help when I need it.
That's my quilting side in a nutshell.

Re: Introducing myself
Welcome, Lori,
Nice to "see a new face"! Thank you for the history on yourself. We have many folks here who have been quilting for decades and some who are newbies. we even have a little boy who has made many quilts. I love applique and have used many different methods, but by no means am I expert in any of them. But we have folks here who are and everyone is happy and willing to share their expertise if you ask.
What are you making for your son for Christmas? Pattern? Fabrics?
Join us in the sew-in. Many of us meet there every morning and have coffee together and talk about anything and everything.

Re: Introducing myself
Hi Lori, so happy to have you with us....AND you will find, these gals are the best! This is the forum for fun, getting answers to questions you might have, ideas for many, many future projects, you name it, it's here....
And we love, love pictures, lots and lots of pictures...Do make sure you check out the photo section, it's a great inspiration...
We also have a "Supper Club" you'll have to check...Besides quilting, we do love to eat, lol....
In reading your post, I had to laugh, we could almost be sisters, lol...Also retired and trying to stay sane, using my son's bedroom as my sewing room...I tried a little while he was at college but as soon as he got married, it was MY room...And to start on a kind size quilt, I did the same thing but ended up quilting by hand because it was too big for my machine....
As I said, you will absolutely love it here...The only downfall, this site if very habit forming and you'll find, you really have a hard time leaving.....
Love having you, check in often.....

Welcome Lori
YOU have come to the right place. This is an extraordinary group of quilters, caring, patient, talented, eager to help and share.
Please come back daily and see what's going on and don't be shy to ask questions as someone will have an answer for you. Be sure to explore the other topics like BOM block of the month, Teresa K does a great job with the monthly blocks. There are others too that do BOM also.
Thanks for stopping by and look forward to see you as a regular.
Be sew happy.
Hugs,
Tina B
