Have you heard of pinetrest they have a sleuth of ideas..
You might want to type in embroidery quilt blocks in the search line..

Why not make it all into a crazy quilt style? You could use scraps of fabric from old clothes she wore, or anything else that has meaning. Crazy quilting is one of the easiest and most forgiving types to sew. It''''s also one of the prettiest with all the ribbon and charms that can be added.
