SUPPER CLUB - Mon, May 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 04, 2015 4:30 am

Good Morning!

What a busy weekend we had here! Yard work, birthday parties, electrical wiring project, bunny rescues (bad Foxy!!), and an unexpected BBQ going until 9pm last night. I'm beat!

IRISH - glad you're back in town. Sorry you have to cook now. But cinnamon rolls do sound tasty . . . . Will there be nuts in them? I love nuts. I can eat around the raisins.

CHICKIE - Isn't it some sort of Kansas rule that the wind blows there? I mean - I've seen the movie! hope your laundry bruises fade quickly! lol!

GEN. CAROL - glad you are finally getting some good weather. Do we have a name for the new Princess yet? How long do they think I can wait to hear??

JOANNE - sorry you weren't up to the sale this year. But glad you got to participate from the porch. Are you able to do handwork - if you want?

BECCA - how was your drive yesterday? I remember, when kids, summer Sundays were always for 'taking a ride'. To this day, the sound of a thermos filling takes me back to my mom fixing our lunch before setting out on an all-day jaunt.

I got a particularly difficult part of our yard finished yesterday! Whew! Only took me a week. and I put out all our yard ornaments for the season - ceramic squirrels, cement deer, etc. I sent my Sis-I-L a text at 2:30 and invited them over for happy hour campfire and a beer. They didn't answer, so after 2 hours we invited another couple and sweetened the pot with 'come as you are' and burgers. They accepted immediately. In the meantime, my SIL called back and asked if they could still come. so we ended up putting together an impromptu BBQ and eating out on the patio next to the campfire. Very nice evening. sometimes, the unplanned event is better than one I've put a week's preparation into!

As for tonite, we'll get back to that chef's salad thing. The weather isn't as purrfect, but that's OK, We could really use a few days of rain. And I could stand a break from the yard!

What's happening in your kitchen tonite?

Good morning from sunny, warm, purrrfect, SW. Pa...We're finally getting my kind of weather, sunny and warm and maybe even hot, lol.....

Mary, sorry, no nuts in the rolls but lots of raisins and I do have to admit, they are maybe the best I've ever made..(could be I was just extra hungry for them)...You dinner almost sounded like our's...We planned on putting on the grill after the game but who knew the darn thing would go 14 innings..(and then lose)...Neighbors stopped in and we sat on the porch and it was at least 7:00 before we had those burgers....

Becca, taking long rides was a favorite past time..Even after my Mom was in a nursing home, if the day was decent, I'd get her in the car and we'd drive...She'd often say, "are we lost" but all those back roads did lead somewhere...We were never lost, sometimes, just miss placed...Good memories and was such good entertainment...Kids today don't know what they're missing....

Today is going to be a productive day...Jim asked what was on the schedule, silly guy....Laundry to get on the line and then scrub the porches....Next thing I knew, he's on the ladder with bucket and rag....

As far as dinner, I'm thinking chicken or meat loaf...If chicken, there will be mashed potatoes if meat loaf, baked spuds....Decisions, decisions...........

Happy eating...........

Almost forgot.....Big news! Kathy's youngest daughter, Cari, called on Sat. and she and her fellow are engaged...The went to "their" lake and he popped the question and made it official with a ring..So, a wedding will be happening.....

Beautiful day! Sun shining and blue sky...perfect!
First morning on the porch, too!

Maryz, I don't do handwork now...unless it is something that doesn't take long...a button for instance. My RA/OA makes handquilting impossible..although I can thread a needle and such.

Tonight is Dinner with the Pringles...at Butterbee's. Are you all familiar with that restaurant??? I do like it alot.

Dancing with the Stars is tonight and tomorrow night...double "kick off" this week...last week the 14 year old left..

Man, Irish, those cinnamon rolls really sound good!!

Everyone, enjoy!
Joanne

This is a quick in and out... Yes, "the wind comes sweeping 'cross the plains" is mandatory for Kansas (and Oklahoma). Some days are worse than others, especially when trying to hang laundry outside.

We had cream of asparagus soup last night (low fat... no CREAM), and it was sooo delicious. There is a little left for tonight with a slice of (previously made) pizza.

Irish--congratulations to the happy couple! Will you be sewing? Hope your laundry doesn't beat you senseless as you hang it! Mine was brutal yesterday.

We always went for a ride with my aunt on Sunday afternoons. If we were lucky, she would stop at the Dairy Queen for a 5-cent cone for each of us. She liked to show off her new powder blue and white '55 Chevy BelAire.

MaryZ--impromptu is often better than planned!

Joanne--I'm finding handwork more difficult and my hands protesting after hand quilting very long.

Our new princess has been named...Charlotte Elizabeth Diana... Charlotte is a royal name...Elizabeth for the Queen...Diana for Williams late mother.....pleased about that.....

had a really lazy day today...just one round of washing...and quite a few hours in the sewing room....a few more Tissue Holders made....and a few more keeping company with the unpicker....lace wasn't straight..ugh hate an uneven line....

sorry....haven't been able the read posts....would have if I could only sew straight......

so onto the last round...a Drove of Tourists...a Squad of Trainees...a Collection of Trainspotters...a Cluster of Twitchers...a Pool of Typists...a Seat of Ushers a Gang of Varlets...a Prudence of Vicars...an Army of Washerwomen...a Coven of Witches...a Nonpatience of Wives...a Gaggle of Woman...a Commune of Workers...a Force of Workmen...a Congregation of Worshippers...a Worship of Writers...a Fellowship of Yeomen...

that feels sad to come to the end of these Collectives....will have to look out for more interesting bits and bobs.....

and so to todays food....Cauliflower Cheese...Green Salad...Creamed Potatoes....Fruit Salad and Cream for afters...

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Gen. Carol - Nice name for the princess!

Irish - Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!

Joanne - Do enjoy the Pringle's company for dinner tonight!

Maryz - Glad you are getting some rain and a much needed break from yard work. Dinner sounds really good last night.

Chickie - Glad you have some leftover soup for tonight too!

Tonight will be leftovers here too. I baked a chicken Saturday so will warm in BBQ sauce and heat the leftover (more like planned-overs) mashed potatoes in microwave. Yesterday I made French Bread for the first time ever. I did not compute the time the recipe would take and luckily we were not real hungry, because the spaghetti with meatballs, salad and french bread wasn't served until after 7:00. Luckily we did not have company. They showed the last MASH episode on METV last night. I think I did not watch it the first time. It sure did not look familiar.

Good afternoon!

Just got home from grocery shopping - all divided up and put away! Tuckered out! The kids are eating here tonight - burgers on the grill, fresh corn on the cob. There are strawberries and cream for afters. Costco makes muffin size pound cakes, just right for the shortcake.

I got almost all of the wedges sewn - just needs a trim and a press.

Enjoy,
Jana
