SUPPER CLUB - Tues, April 14th
April is half over! My gosh, but this year is flying by!
I did get into the doc and I have a kidney infx. After a day of antibx, I'm feeling MUCH better! But they tend to make me drowsy and after a half-hour of "head bobbing" on the couch last night I finally gave up and went to bed at 8pm. I do live a wild life! lol!
My backing for Crazy Jane arrived yesterday so as soon as we finish the quilt that is already on the frame, on she goes!
JANA - that jello salad is also a holiday staple in our family. We usually use green jello and add diced celery and chopped walnuts. I snip marachino cherries to look like poinsettias to garnish it at Christmas. My sister calls this salad 'Green Slime". When I use orange jello, we do mini marshmellows, coconut, and mandarin oranges and call it 'ambrosia'. Gosh, now I'm hungry for that!
CHICKIE - Three blind mice! I wonder who makes up these "kids' tales"??
IRISH - you broke out shorts? Really?? Did you wear them??? Is it that warm back there? And what's with cabbage with ham & potatoes? Is that a Pennsylvania Dutch dish? I don't think I've had that before . . . and yes, Foxy is home. I don't know where he went but he wandered in about midnight. Now he has a new collar with an ID tag and a bell. At least I can hear him if he's out in the dark.
BECCA - mac and cheese, baked beans and strawberries? I'm there! As long as you're not putting quote marks around that mac & cheese!!
TINA - happy anniversary - and a day! Where is the Outback? In Cruces? What did you have? we've eaten at several Outbacks across the country. Most are excellent! Unfortunately, the one in Tacoma is not among the excellent ones.
JOANNE - how was Hibachi Grill last night? Do you really have that many restaurants that close to you or do you travel further afield? Are you near Cincy?
VEL - when are you dropping off your rig for repairs? I hope they are quick about it. When it's your home, these kinds of things can be difficult to arrange.
Yesterday I threw a can of chicken together with some leftover rice, added Cr. Mushroom soup, a sprinkling of red pepper flakes, a can of diced chilies, and a bit of Miracle Whip salad dressing. Topped it all with shredded cheese, black olives and buttered bread crumbs. It really turned out good! And Scottie was very happy to get the chicken can! He dragged it all over the house all evening long like a toddler carts a blankie around. As long as Scottie is happy, we're good. ;o)
Tonite will be the last of that casserole (my DH loves casseroles. One of the few men I know that do. Have I mentioned that I love him?) and some fresh roasted veggies.
What's putting the YUM on your plate tonite?

Maryz: I am catching you on here much earlier today. Glad your kidney infection is feeling better. Jana’s jello salald does sound yummy. I need to go back and right down the steps and save it for next fall in Texas. We have pot lucks down there and that would be a perfect dish to take.
We only have just a couple of things for the dealer to check. The main one is the brakes. We had some trouble with them from the “get go”. Still under warranty for that, and DH is not fully satisfied with the braking. He said that we have “some”, but “FULL” braking is what we want!!
Not sure what they will find. The other issue is a small thing, but out “toidy” flusher doesn’t spring shut after each flush like it should. We have to lift up on the foot pedal to make sure it is tight, or the water will seep out of the bowl. We can deal with it, but we know it is not just right. We think it needs and adjustment or a new spring on the foot pedal. That one we will have to pay for the service. We will be leaving it on Saturday AM and pick it up again on Thursday, but it will be done long before we come back to pick it up. We are staying with our son while we get our Doctor appts. And my mamo done. We got invite to my family reunion which is on Sunday the 19th. That’s why we have to leave the camper on Saturday. Otherwise we would have dropped it off on Monday morning. So….. we will be without our home for a couple extra days, but that’s our fault. I could have just said no to going to the reunion, but is is always nice to see family.
For our dinner tonight, it will be somewhat a repeat from last night. I fixed thin cut boneless pork chops breaded with cracker crumbs. They were so gooooood!! I have plenty left over, so I will heat them and add the potato and vegi and a bowl of fruit for dessert. Oh, yes, always a salad first. We both love a light salad to start our meal. Simple but yummy.
Glad to have had the chance to post with you all earlier today. Have some fun today and enjoy your dinner!!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, April 14th
Good morning,
Mary - so glad you are better! And the last of Crazy Jane arrived! Whoo- hoo! Michael enjoys cassaroles too - just as long as it isn't too mixed up in ingredients - he likes to see what is in there.
Velda - I too want full brakes! I want to stop when I want too, not ehen the vehicle thinks it should! That jello salad is a very quick one to make and I usually have the ingredients on hand, just didn't know I did.
Chickie - pizza - yum! I could go for a ooey gooey cheesy topped with everything today!
It is Activity girls day and Michael is working on the last 3 leg supports in the storage room - which translates to I will be helping move all the storage items, ie, my Christmas, into their home. We will be able to unpack the rest of the boxes from the move and put them away as well. Michael bought a ton of storage bins to put small items in, on the shelves. Things that are gotten into more often than deep storage. Especially model railroad stuff. Then on to the railroad tables in the sewing area - once the final elevation is set, the cabinets from the old kitchen are going under the railroad - giving me more storage space - can you say FABRIC! Well, that is after we help Sarah with the down payment on the house. They will be short, they had planned on using a no down mortgage the government offered - applied - they made too much money last year by $239. Hence, now the conventional loan.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, April 14th
Good early afternoon from semi sunny, not as warm (as yesterday) but nice, Sw. Pa....It's still good outside working weather but alas, I'm doing the living room today so it's inside for me, but with the windows open......
Mary, so glad to hear, you did get to the doc and things will be taken care of quickly....Yep, I did get into the shorts yesterday (with a tug or 2), I think we reached 80 with sun....Ham, cabbage and potatoes, you've never heard of it???My heavens, it's a staple around here, especially after Easter..It's just a given! Oh so good! I guess we do have things in this part of the country that might sound "strange" to some....Just like we have our own "Pittsburgheze" language...we have a whole dictionary full of our words....
There were times, when Kathy's DH had no idea what we were talking about but after being here for a week, we got him straightened out....
Tina, a very happy belated anniversary...Hope your dinner was good....We have an Outback not too far from us and it's really good...
Vel, I love to hear about your life and being able to take your home with you is, I think, great.....I often wish we had been more adventurous and done more in the way of traveling...Hope you're able to get all the "kinks" worked out and things run smoothly.....
Well, our dinner will be a repeat of last night...I made that big kettle and there's plenty left for tonight and maybe tomorrow....Jim often laughs and will say, are the neighbors coming to eat...Just can't seem to remember I'm not cooking for that big family any longer.....So, ham, cabbage and potatoes and cookies and ice cream for afters......
Happy eating...........
Pirates had a great home opener, won big time!

Gosh, Mary, you can't have cabbage without ham and potatoes!! lol! That's the only way I've ever made them...
Yesterday it made it to 84 deg. here...ugh...too hot, too soon..feels to much like tornado weather to me.
Hibachi Grill was good last night! They have spinach (cooked)with cheese on top that I LOVE. Mary, all our restaurants are within a 30 minute drive or less. We never go into Cincinnati...it's over 40 miles from us, but it feels like hundreds! lol! Too much "big city" for me!
Earls brother died on Saturday, so the services are Wed. night and Thurs morning...when the three brothers were picking out a casket for Pete, Earl choose a beautiful wood one and his brother Maynard said, wow, that's pretty expensive! Earl said, "Pete is paying for it!" Everyone, including the funeral director laughed. I'm thinking that he doesn't get much to laugh about in his line of work...
I'm thinking it's Mama's Grill again tonight...we need to pick up the Market Day order and Earl said that we'll eat out..at this rate I won't be cooking until Friday.
Carol, I have to sign in every time I come here, too...have no idea why! Hope you get your "frozen" fixed!
Almost dinner time! Later gators!
Joanne

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, April 14th
Mary glad you're feeling better
the Outback is in Cruces, we spent all afternoon over there
we both had their house special sirloin, it was so tender and very yummy! I had a salad and baked sweet potato and Frankie had salad and mashed potatoes but he didn't care for the potatoes, they used some spices that made them taste too different, I even tasted them for him and I didn't care for them either. And then we both shared the pan apple pie
it was a special day so we went all out
Tonight I'm doing pork chops on the grill and salad for sure and another veggie, just not sure what yet. I vacuumed our suburban all out and wore myself out and me and Easton just woke up from a nap LOL
