SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, April 9

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Apr 09, 2015 4:26 am

Good Morning!

My DGS, Drew, (age 21) is having his wisdom teeth pulled this morning. Part of me wants to be there for him (the office is only 2 miles from our house) but the other part knows his parents are with him and he's in good hands. I'll steer clear and go get my mammogram instead. I'll call him later today to see how he's feeling. They boy has never even had a filling before!

LADY CAROL - sorry you got waylaid in town and it cut into your sewing time. I have 3 of those little tissue covers and love them!

IRISH - spring cleaning is over-rated! No matter what year you are working on! And isn't Jim the sweet one to offer to help you pick out paint for your kitchen! We can use almost any accent color in our master bath as it's a floral wallpaper. DH said "No wimpy colors!" and he specifically nixed all pinks, apricots, and the like. We usually go with dark green, dark blue, and now gray.

JANA - I ASSUME your chowder was corn . . .

BECCA - well, who doesn't want a bacon fix?!! lol! And yes, I did find the perfect backing for Jane. Only they were out! So I had to settle for a similiar one - a fat back from MSQC of cream with tan leafy sprigs. I don't usually buy fat-backs, but when I stacked the cost (and convenience!) against the cost of the regular width fabrics on sale, it was pretty much the same. I think I'll do this more often for bigger quilts. And how is your quilt coming?

CHICKIE - now we all need to hear that you survived your night of storms intact . . . .

TINA and JOANNE - I know you're probably going to eat something (or somewhere!) today . . . .

Today is my mammo and then to Costco to get new eyeglasses. I hope they have some great new frames in. Their selection is limited but their prices are so good that I live with what they have to offer. and at three miles away, they are handy as well. Then we're going to go visit Warren. After 6 days in hospital he's gone to a nursing home for some strengthening therapy before going back to assisted living. At least we're all hoping he'll go back.

Today is supposed to be about 65* and sunny. So DH and I are going to grill burgers on the deck. We'll add a salad and cottage cheese and call it supper. Nice to have some warmer weather now!

Hope you find something tasty for tonite!

Good morning from overcast but warm, Sw. Pa....Just not sure if it's going to rain but whatever, right.....Just in the last couple of days, everything is now green and very, very welcome...Well, most of it is welcome, Jim isn't too thrilled that the grass is growing....And our yard must be the place for all the birds to meet up for their "welcome back" reunion...I've never seen so many happy birds....AND just saw the biggest blue jay ever...This bird really has a weight problem.....

Oh Mary, those dreaded useless wisdom teeth...But, you know kids today, he'll won't be down too long...Me, it would take a month of bed rest....I wish we had a Costco as near...Well, maybe it's not a good idea but I sure do love their stores...Guess I'd better stick to Aldi...We were teasing Dan last week, he's never been to Aldi so this Gram will have to take him by the hand and take him on an adventure...

Today, along with Jim's bingo, it's lunch with the gals and we're trying out a new Italian place...And naturally that would mean, I wouldn't be cooking BUT, Dan is coming down after work to install all these new things on the TV and computer and he'll be hungry....

I'm thinking, swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and a veggie...I know he'd love to have pumpkin pie but not sure if that will get baked......

Happy eating.................

Good morning! Last night was mild compared with the night before. My phone alerts never went off, and we had a good night's sleep which I needed after the previous night of warnings and storms.

I remember having my wisdom teeth taken out on my lunch hour when I was 19 and going back to work with a mouth full of packing. No sick leave so just sucked it up and went back to the grind. Thankfully, I had no complications. Hope everything goes well for your DGS!!!

Irish--your dinner sounds delicious... even after Italian for lunch. I wish we lived closer--you find all the fun places to eat!

Mary--You know what our grill looks like... just holds brats! I have a ham and cottage cheese, so I'll add a vegetable to that. I didn't have my morels last night, but my artichoke was delicious with guacamole and some sriracha mayo for dipping sauces. I'm having some morels in an omelette this morning.

We're overcast, and I don't know if we have more storms forecast or not. It is what it is... spring in Kansas!

Happy eatings!

Good morning,

Mary - sorry to say it wasn't going to be corn. DH over-ruled it yesterday , anyway- so I had gnocchis with alfredo and he had a bowl of cream of chicken soup and grilled cheese. Stu had his wisdom teeth out last month and bounced back in a couple of days. I wonder if that is why this new generation takes so long to get their smarts, we keep removing wisdom! LOL

Irish - what fun it will be to have Nicky!

Dinner tonight - humm... I am thinking...... stroganoff - made with ground turkey and fresh asparagus - I bought a ton for Easter and did not need it all - so this will be the last.

Enjoy,
Jana

Mary, the Reds were the first professional baseball team...that is, they were the first team to PAY their men...there were other baseball teams around. They beat Irish's Pirates last night in 11 innings...it ended at 2am after a rain delay of 2 hours! Needless to say, we turned off the TV at 11:30.

We're going to Medarys this afternoon to pick up some groceries and some fried chicken and sides for dinner. My arthritis (I never can spell that correctly! lol!) is kicking my butt today. Rain storms are coming this afternoon...again. It is going to push 80 today..and it's sticky.

Well, off to watch the Reds and Pirates! Hope they don't get rained out they are playing at 12:30pm today.

Joanne
