SUPPER CLUB - Hump Day! Feb 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Feb 25, 2015 4:08 am

And we're back! . . .

I hope you all had a nice Tuesday! I certainly did! Got the uglies done early, had a massage, a small grocery run, and a pretty relaxed afternoon. One of our supper guests called in sick, but everyone else showed up so we still had 7 people. None of the food turned out icky and I always count that a plus when serving a crowd - or myself.

CHICKIE - is tonite tamale night?

JANA - did your granite folks show?

IRISH - I, too, wondered how much a 10# cat really weighs when they are laying on my chest through the night. Once my Late DC, who weighed 15#, jumped on my LDH#2's chest while he was asleep - from our high headboard. This is the DH who had severe heart disease. I thought my Tango killed him then and there! I really loved that cat.

BECCA - did you get the predicted snow? I think you've had more than your share, given that you live in NC and not Maine!

TINA - are you still having picnic weather?

The house is clean so no uglies. Not enough dirties so no laundry. It's going to be a rainy day so no yard work. Got plenty of leftovers so no cooking. Gee - wonder what I can find to do . . . . .

For supper tonite, I plan cut up the leftover chicken and asparagus and mix it all into the leftover wild rice, with perhaps some onion and a bit of olive oil, and call it a 'scramble' of sorts.

Hope you can scramble up something tasty in your kitchen tonite?

Mary, sadly our weather turned cold and windy and so nasty the very next day :-( it still is. The wind is blowing up dirt really bad, they say they may close some roads. I had to go in yesterday and pick up Jazmyne and wondered if we were going to make it home, it got that bad that quick.
We're having leftover chili soup tonight :-)

Good morning from sunny, "warmer" (if you call 24 warm), SW. Pa....AND by Sunday, we might even see 40....Break out the shorts and flip flops......

Mary, I think after yesterday, you do need a day to do nothing....Shame it's dreary and you can't work outside...And more of a shame that you might just have to find something to sew...Life is tough!

Tina, sorry your weather has gone downhill....But, spring is coming....

Here is it 11:00 and I'm not even dressed...I really could stay in my pjs and robe all day, would love it....You'll love this idea...I had to put on "cold" pjs at night so thought, stick them under the electric blanket in the morning and when Jim goes up at night, he always turns on my side of the blanket AND by the time I go to bed, those jammies will be nice and toasty...Good thinking, right????My Mom didn't raise no dummy.....Gonna give it a try tonight.....

And now for scrambling up something for dinner...I have a little ground meat left over from the burgers so, either meat loaf or spaghetti and meat balls....I'm really trying to cook smaller so we don't have a lot of leftovers and boy that is hard.....Might also have to do some baking, maybe gingerbread............

Happy eating................

Good morning! I think I may tackle making tamales instead of tamale pie. I saved the corn husks from the tamales I bought and washed them. I think I can re-hydrate them and make tamales from my ingredients. The ones I bought were just o.k.--not as "homemade" as they looked. I think they had more filler than meat. Mine will have MEAT in the middles. Wish me luck!

Tina--your chili soup sounds good! If I don't make tamales, I might make taco soup and use some pulled pork in it. I think that sounds super good. I might have just talked myself out of the tamales... I know the soup would be MUCH healthier and after pizza last night... I NEED healthy!!!

Good Afternoon,Still cold & snow all around.I did not venture out for my Friends viewing & service because of cold,Ice & snow.Felt I should play it safe.I have to think of DH too because being a caregiver you think of that.

MARYz Yes we got 5 ins & they say 10+ for tonite & tomorrow. Then warming next week.Your day sounds good & relaxing.

TINA Stay safe with your Dirt storm.

With the snow coming I made a big pot of soup this morning.Very healthy like CHICKIE'S.Full of kale & broccoli, carrots, onions tomatoes, tad of rice for thickening & chicken broth.Yum.
Yesterdy I baked 2 loaves of zucchini bread with raisins.I am like iRISH with raisins.

DH wants a chili cheese & he also has hulley beans left. Happy eating to all....Becca

Good morning,

I am at the kids to babysit. Logan leaves in a couple of minutes.

Before I left home, I gave DH a direct order to e-mail or call the contractor, he is generalling the project and get the granite guys out here! We will see if he follows my orders - you may LOL! In 40 years he has yet to follow orders! :)

Dinner will be out tonight - last night's came out well.

Chickie - I do my tamales with polenta instead of masa - they taste better and are not quite so heavy. Polenta is easy and make it with chicken stock for better flavor. Good luck - oh, you steam them just as if it was made with masa.

Mary - your party souunded like everyone had a great time.

Irish - I just may need my flannel jammies too - we are supposed to get snow for whole week - yippee! We need it badly,

Tina - your soup the other day sounded yummy!

Enjoy,
Jana
