SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Feb 15th
Good morning!
Nobody made it to the table yesterday. Everyone must have been busy with their Valentines. I know I was. We had a nice hike but boy, was it steep! But we kept up with our 17 y/o grandson! He was probably going slow (for him) but at least he didn't run off and leave us! It was sure nice to have supper all ready to pop into the oven last night!
So now I guess you know what we'll be having for supper tonite - lasanga, asparagus, and salad. I think, though, I'm going to freeze half of the leftover lasagna or else we'll be eating it until Friday!
What's in your mind for Sunday dinner today?

Mary--we'll be having the last dregs of the Cajun-spiced red beans and brown and black rice with the "additions" that we had last night. DH really liked it for his Valentine dinner. I'll add a salad and some banana bread for dessert.
How neat to get to go on a hike with your DGS! And, nice of him not to run off and leave you!
One of DH's coffee buddies brought in a molten lava chocolate cake yesterday that he had made in the crock pot. DH saved his, and we shared it for dessert last night. I told DH is buddy could be my Valentine any time! Have any of you tried the crock pot cake? I had never heard of such a thing! It was really rich and decadent. It reminded me of one of the tunnel of fudge cakes, but it wasn't as composed. Ice cream would have made it outrageously fabulous.

Good morning,
Well at least I have a partial stove, it is gas and I can light the top burners with my flamethrower. So DH asked for a huge pot of my tortilla soup. So I will make it and freeze half for dinner another time, while I am camping! LOL They removed the last of the counters and island on Friday and the cabinets are supposed to start their installation in the morning.
Mary - we have been getting fresh asparagus and it is so yummy! We roast it and at the last add parmesan cheese - now I want some!
Chickie - oh yum - molten chocolate lava cakes - I will see if I can find a recipe - a crock pot I still have!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Feb 15th
Good early afternoon from a very sunny but very cold, Sw. Pa....We are now having the coldest week of the winter..Still snow covered and terrible winds but, I'm inside looking out and it doesn't look too bad, lol......
Mary, I thought of you all day yesterday, wondering how your day was going....Keeping up with a teenager is great,(whether he slowed down or not) is better than most could do....Like I said, once around the block and I'd be ready to eat.....
Chickie, that cake does sound good...I don't think I've ever had one made in a crock pot but willing to give it a try....
Jana, isn't it amazing what you can do even when half the things are missing? You are really going to appreciate having that new kitchen, won't you?
We just had a visit from Kathy, Chris's wife...I hadn't talked to her in about a week and a half and would you believe, she had fallen on the ice and broke her wrist and to top it off, had to have surgery....Said, she didn't want to worry me, that's why she didn't call...KIDS! So, left wrist/arm is in a heavy cast and she's wearing a sling but she's able to get around...
Well, today is Jim's birthday so instead of cake, he's getting an apple pie...And I'm going to make swiss steak, mashed spuds, gravy and some kind of veggie....And with all that, there will be left overs and he can celebrate again tomorrow.....
Happy eating.................
