Feels good to get this weeks blocks done. Haven't sewn much for a few weeks and missed it.

Yay....finished my blocks! I am loving these smaller blocks. Didn't think I would, but I am pleasantly surprised.

Blocks are looking great!

I won't be able to work on mine this weekend. Looks like I will be finishing them up late next week.

They did come together well. I thought maybe I was getting the hang of it, and they weren't giving me as much trouble. I'm using Best Press on my fabrics before I cut and sew. I think that helps a lot.

Katy, the blocks were surprisingly easy. I really thought that A7 would be difficult, but it came together like a dream.

Everyone's blocks are turning out so beautiful. We are going to have some fantastic quilts in a few months!

Chickie, I agree about the Best Press. I love that stuff. I hate the price, though. Every so often, our Hancock's will have it on sale for $4.99 a bottle. That is when I stock up. Alas, I have run out. I think that I am going to try the "homemade" best press. There are some recipes on-line. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! LOL

Wow!...Everyone's are so GORGEOUS!..My biggest issue is when I see all these others I want to change my fabric..I will admit..I had an issue with A7..it is a clear 6 3/4" square..and I did not like how it went together..don't know what I did wrong but my mind was on other things..I may do it over after I take a break just to see if it makes a difference...here they are..the other 2 I did last night..:)..

Mel..One woman's dream is another woman's NIGHTMARE! UGH! this is round two..of A7..it is not perfect but good enough for who it's for..:)..I figured out what I did wrong and now I have a PERFECT 6.5 block..except one of the "star units has it's center point cut out..I'm leaving it alone..it appears I was OVER CAUTIOUS when I measured the templates and added an 1/8 inch because it appeared to me that was the measurement..UGH..Anyway..this will have to do..I'm ok with it..:)..
Image
..as far as the Best Press I love it, too..but the mark up is INSANE..I water down a 16 ounce bottle divided by 2..to make 2 16 ounce bottles half water and half starch..I have 1 bottle of tearose left to be divided and I have 1 8ounce bottle of the cherry blossom already divided left..:(..MY FAVORITE! :)..I paid $8.75 for mine..If any of you find an on-line homemade recipe PLEASE pass it on..:)..I am experimenting, also..WE CAN DO THIS!..:) I make a concoction of grunge to use when iron my fabric for my primitives (have an iron and ironing board for grunging only)..but I doubt if any of you would be interested in that!..:)..Thanks for looking!...Sonya..

Sonya, I think your block looks great! I know what you mean about wanting to change fabrics when I look at everyone's blocks.

The recipe I found for "best press" is 3 oz vodka, 24 oz distilled water, and essential oil for fragrance. I haven't tried it yet, but I think I will. If anyone has a different one, please share!
