SUPPER CLUB - Mon, Jan 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jan 26, 2015 3:07 am

Good morning from Glenn's Ferry, Idaho! We spent the night at Three Island Crossing St. Park - a major deal on the Oregon Trail route. We're the only ones in the park. Except for four deer. Very nice!

The 'gumbo' we had last night wasn't bad. Pretty spicy but good. Since I've never had real gumbo, I don't know how it compared. There were leftovers so tonite, I think, in the spirit of using up the dibs and dabs of things, I'll add it to the frozen leftover barley stuff I made some weeks back. I wonder what it will be like . . .

We'll be home in about 34 hours (not that I'm counting, mind you!) and we'll be having take-out pizza for supper then as DD#1, Lara, and her DH, Lee, will be coming by to visit us.

What's cookin' at YOUR house?

Mary--your park with the deer and your dear sounds very peaceful. So glad you didn't have any blizzards to contend with on this trip home. I hear the joy in your voice!

I'll be presenting leftovers here tonight as well... soup for me, burgers that we brought home last night after the party... Nothing special but quite good. My soup has barley! I think it works like okra in gumbo for thickening... Maybe we can call our dishes "northern gumbos."

Enjoy!

Good morning :-)
Mary, sooooooooo close! :-)
Chickie, we did all leftovers last night with forbidden food :-)
Tonight I'm making a BBQ brisket, salad, baked potato for Frankie unless I get really ambitious and make slaw or potato salad.....it depends upon Easton :-) so far he's really clingy, he came tired today.

Good early afternoon from a gorgeous, purrrfect, winter day (if you like winter), SW. Pa......We have snow, not as much as some but we got it and it's still coming down......

Mary, we really can hear the "happy" in your voice....Just shows how much you love your home...Other than having cool weather, your trip was lots of fun, for those of us who "traveled" with you.....

Being wintery here in Pa., I have to do something in the oven...So either lasagna or meat loaf....It's tough trying to decide......And then if the oven is on, that also means baking something.....what to make, what to make?????

Happy eating...............

Tonight will be Parmesan Chicken with the little bit of leftover marinara sauce from the freezer. We will also enjoy a salad, potatoes and vegetables with Caramel Swirl Ice Cream for dessert.

Maryz - You do sound very happy to be going home!

Carol
