SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, Jan 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jan 08, 2015 1:14 am

Good frozen morning! I know many of you are colder than we are at 23*, but really - we're where everyone goes to stay WARM! What's wrong with this picture?? Wind chill takes us down to 12*. At home, it's going to be in the 50's for the next ten days!

Looks like the non-red-meat-eaters outnumber Joanne, 4 to 1. But Jo, look how much more steak that leaves for you!

Tonite is the night I've been dreading - the Catf--h Grill. It's not so much the menu that shies me away (it's not ALL catfood!), but the hour drive each way - in icy weather. Wish me luck!

Hope you supper doesn't include catfood.

Hi Mary and all that follow.

I don't get to post here very often. I get on here first thing in the morning and that is usually it for the day. Only a few times, that I get back on in the afternoon.

This early in the morning, I am not always thinking about our evening meal yet. LOL

As much as I know, you hate that "f**h" word, I am shocked that you are driving an hour to be "nice" and all. Hope you find some other food that will sound good to you on the menu.

I am very fussy about the "f**h" I like. First of all, I can't stand that really strong taste that many kinds have. When we catch our own, then I know it is FRESH, too. Any..... I only like it deep fried, which as we all know, isn't the most healthy way of cooking.

Don't like other seafood at all. So..... I am sympathizing with you for tonight. Just hope it all turns out and the company will make up for the "food". LOL

I made meatloaf last night. I finally gave in and made it with beef. For a long time, I would only use ground turkey and it just is too moist of meat to make a good loaf. The beef last night, was soooooo good. We decided that I will just use beef from now on and that will be a special treat. I don't make meatloaf that often and it just tastes so much better with beef.

I can use ground turkey in most all of my other recipes, but the meatloaf, just never would turn out to my taste buds.

So tonight, I don't know what we will do. I would like to eat out tonight, but I will wait and see what DH thinks about that idea. :)

Have a great day. Boy, Mary, your time here in Texas is getting SHORT!!!

Morning Vel and Mary....

I put Chicken quarters in slow cooker yesterday and we had that with Mac-n-cheese (the real stuff). Cooked a bunch of chicken, so tonight is chicken and dumplings, nice warm comfort food for a cold, cold day.

Too bad DH is in Ohio, chicken and dumplings is one of his favorites.

Good morning,

Mary - safe travels!

Michael wanted a trip up to Logan today - nope I said no - it can wait until spring thaw - I hate traveling very far in any snowy or icy weather. We had a very bad wreck on that road, just before Aaron was born. Put the car on its roof.

Dinner will be polska kielbasa, tortellini, broccoli with swiss cheese sauce. Cornbread may accompany as well.

Enjoy,
Jana

Mary—can you believe it, I actually covet your 23 degrees! I would even brave getting out of my cocoon for c****sh but not for steak. I know—no help for me. Hope you can handle it—usually they have something on the menu for you flatlanders.

Vel—I do like meatloaf. It is one of the few things we had from beef when I was a kid. It was a treat.

Joyce—mac ā€˜n cheese is real comfort food and so delicious on a cold night. So is chicken ā€˜n dumplings. Are your ā€œdumplingsā€ like biscuits or noodles? We had chicken and noodles or chicken and dumplings that were kind of like biscuits baked on the top or thicker ones stirred into the chicken soup and kind of ā€œpoachedā€. All were fabulous when Grandma made them!

Becca—I love a pot of soup that lasts all week.

Yesterday I made tortellini Alfredo with ham for DH and I had tortellini with marinara sauce. I think I’ll turn my leftovers into tortellini and veggie soup today and serve DH the rest of his with a steak on the side. I still have some veggies to go on the side. I’m off to the freezer…

Cheers!

Good afternoon from sunny but bitter cold, Sw. Pa...If we didn't have the sun, for sure, I'd stay wrapped up in my electric blanket...I had to laugh at my "Baby Girl" this morning...I had opened the inside window and she was trying to see through the frosty storm window and ended up licking a spot to look out....

Mary, hopefully, you will find something really good on that menu...Let's just say, to drive that far, in bad weather, boy you'd better find something...And don't be listening to Joanne, I'm working very hard to get that spot on your "list".....

Chickie, I must be related, I do like meatloaf but I have to have my relish to use with it...But, as far as the catf**h, no way!

Today, I am so determined to finish the green blocks..Jim has gone to help with bingo and the fur babies are sleeping...Jim asked if I was going out, silly boy! Let me know when it gets to be 75 and then we'll talk....

But, we did go to his aunt's funeral yesterday...Very small but when you get to be 102, not too many of your friends are still around...We then did have a luncheon and it was good to visit with the relatives...Not going to mention what Jim had to eat but he brought 1/2 of it home and hopefully will finish it for dinner.....I, on the other hand, will have soup of some kind...Have a scratchy throat so need something that will go down easy.....

Happy eating.................

Good evening everybody from south Louisiana, Ya know if my ancestors never ate things from lakes, rivers, and oceans they would have starved after being dropped off here by the hundreds from Nova Scotia. I'm grateful for the wide bounty our Father has provided us and the skills my relatives, past and present, have given me. Enjoy your soups, we are having seafood gumbo tonight. Au revoir, Abita
