SUPPER CLUB - Wed Dec 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 17, 2014 1:17 am

A wintry day here in Georgetown, TX. And wintry here means 48* and rainy. DH is going to a sci fi movie with a friend and I get to stay here and sew! Got the UGHlies done yesterday so today is all mine!

IRISH, dear, you are NOT a downer! You are finding a way to observe the spirit of the season even though your family is in pain. God bless you!

JANA - a whole two weeks with Daniel! What a gift! Any chance he'll ever move to UT?

CHICKIE - I now have all my general soup ingredients so I'm ready to rock! I like celery, carrots, and onions in almost any soup I make. I do have instant potatoes, too.

TINA - poor little Easton and his teething. I remember those days.

JO - cooking? You?? Hooray! And sounds like a good dinner, too!

BECCA - I know you're here someplace!

No cooking for us today. WE are going out to Johnny Carino's for supper with friends. We're going out tomorrow night, too, to a local Mexican restaurant called Jardine's (pronounced Har-DEENS). So no cooking for me until Friday!

Hope your supper is simple to make but tasty!

Good chilly morning in south La. I am putting a pot of beans on to cook for supper tonight.
Most of my shopping is done, and my extended family is getting together at my dad's house on Christmas Eve for gumbo and gifts. Not so much cooking to be done by me.
My DMIL suggested giving donation to a charity instead of gifts between the adults. That made my shopping easier, since they are my hardest to shop for.
My prayers going out to all, Abita

Hi ladies
I don't have my dinner planned this early in the morning. I just had chicken and noodles on Monday, and yesterday we ate out with a friend. So today I need to check the freezer for what's available. It will be something simple, that I know.

Today is suppose to be our Christmas parade at 10Am,then the afternoon is our Sewing/Craft day. I won't feel much like fussing with dinner after all that.

I plan to cook a small turkey breast for ourselves this weekend, because we join the group at the club house for a huge Christmas Dinner. It's always nice to have a traditional meal so we have some leftovers for ourselves.

That's what I missed when we were at our son's house for Thanksgiving. We did have one meal with the leftovers, but it's not the turkey sandwiches and all the yummy mashed potatoes, etc.

Well, hope you all enjoy your soup or whatever you stir up.

Happy Hump Day
Velda

Abita--I think we still have enough bean soup for tonight. I know DH is going to be tired of them. I kick them up with Louisiana heat. Gumbo and gifts sounds like a wonderful tradition... also the gifts to charity. Enjoy! Let the good times roll! (I can't spell how you say it.)

Vel--I missed the turkey left overs, too. None for Christmas, either, as #1 son is making a ham. DH doesn't care that much for turkey anyway, but I like it... He's dark meat; I'm white meat.

Mary--I put onions and celery in everything, too. If I know it's not getting used all at once, I'll chop it and put it in the freezer in portioned baggies ready to drop in at a moment's notice.

I might fix some taco salad tonight and hold the beans for tomorrow night. Want to keep the native here happy.

Enjoy!

Good morning,

Still voiceless. So my fingers are talking for me.

Last night I got a hankering for some Jewish penicillin - chicken soup and matzo balls. Yummy! I have leftovers, DH will not touch it! So dinner will be soup for me and what ever I can find to feed DH.

Irish - it takes time - when I lost my mom, 2 weeks before Christmas, we kept it very subdued as well. We love you!

Enjoy,
Jana

I don't have a clue what supper will be here yet. Christmas eve here I always make red Chile meat, pinto beans and Spanish rice then we all load up and go to my older brothers house to exchange gifts and have pie 😊 nobody opens gifts until Christmas morning though πŸŽ… We ate out once for Thanksgiving but had no leftovers so I said not again LOL I got a text last night from Kevin, awesome news, he's off for Christmas eve and Christmas! We then sent happy picture texts back and forth including fireworks πŸŽ† 😊

Almost ready to eat!
Ham, potatoes, onions and green beans in the crockpot! And sweet potato biscuits from Market Day.

A late ood afternoon.Tried earlier & computer would not cut on.It is old & worn out like its owner.LOL

IRISH You are not a downer. We felt the same when we lost our DDIL & my DMother riht at Christmas.Hard to fell joyous.

ABITa What agreat idea.No adult gifts.I cannot get my family to stop giving us.Enjoy your family time.

CHICKIE I too put celery & onions in everything chopped fine so DH does not detect celery.LOL

VELDA I love leftovers better than the day of meal.I relax once its over.

After the flooring job I had plenty of leftovers.Which we love.I made chicken n dumplins, green beans, pickled beets,& fruit cake for DH & DS.
We love our new floor.Everything is all clean & it makes the room look bigger even though it is already a big room.

Have a great meal everyone....Becca
