SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 03, 2014 3:32 am

Good Morning!

One more day and our carpets will be here! I can't wait!! Thanks for all the ideas for simple meals. My problem is getting into my kitchen! My countertops are all filled with my china, fancy serving dishes, knick-knacks, vases, etc from my buffet and curio cabinet. I have a 6'x 8' floor and it will be filled today with whatever furniture we can cram in there. not complaining. Just stating. It's kind of fun, actually, trying to meet the challenge of working in there!

JANA - you are right - I do have a second kitchen - that is a long trek from my house and has no food in it. But if it were going to be longer than a day or two, I'd be using it!

CAROL - so sorry about the bus woes in your village. Sounds like some letters need to be written to the bus company. Very nice of friends to offer you a lift in their car.

Tonite - I have a little leftover chicken/veggies in broth. I'll add a can of chicken to it, the leftover cheese sauce from my mac'n'cheese, some more veggies, and some beer. Load it all into the crockpot and we'll have cheesy chicken veggie soup tonite! The best cheese soup I ever had was in a nice restaurant. They made a roux, added onion, sharp cheddar cheese, and used a porter beer for the liquid. The alcohol cooked off, of course, but left a yummy flavor!

In case I get tied up, tomorrow night's supper will be burgers 'cause all I'll need to reach will be the freezer. Then we should be back to pretty much normal - for cooking anyway. As normal as it gets around here!

I wonder if DH would like soup with beer in it??? That sounds delicious! I might try something like it this winter.

We ate at Pizza Hut last night, so I think tonight will be left over chicken, salads, tomatoes, and maybe I'll make something for dessert. That's a huge MAYBE. We don't need anything.

Hope you love your carpet and nothing happens to the installers before they get it finished!

Tonight for us will be the forbidden food, asparagus and a salad :-) I'm taking Jazmyne to the dentist at noon for the other 4 teeth to be fixed and probably won't be getting home till after 2 so I want something quick and easy for the evening :-) if we have afters it's fresh cantaloupe out of the garden or an apple :-)

Good early afternoon from warm, sunny, SW. Pa...Today is darn right purrrfect, not real humid with lots of sunshine.....

Mary, I think I'm as excited as you...I can't wait to see the "after" pictures....But, I still do like the way you have the bathroom, now.....And I'm sure Jim would love soup made with beer..In fact, I know he'd like anything made with beer, lol....You dinner does sound yummy.....

Carol, don't you wonder who comes up with the new ideas when it should be left to the people who actually know what is what...You just have to shake your head...Sure hope things work out...

Becca, I understand completely how you feel about doctors and meds...Feel bad that your DH is still feeling badly....Up until about 2 years ago, Jim never took a pill and now he's on a bunch...And every day, it's a battle to get him to take them and then I wonder if they're all helping...What do they say about the "golden years"? I think our's are tarnishing very quickly.....

Our dinner was so good last night, we're going to have a repeat tonight....In other words, left over pork chops, mashed spuds, gravy and mixed veggies...AND the baker came out of hiding and made cinnamon rolls..(and they are really good, if I do have to say so myself)..... (tomorrow we might be back to working magic with a zucchini)

Happy eating...............

Did a big shop this afternoon.....and spent forever trying to squash things into my freezers.....I have 3......so we have to do lots of eating before I can do any baking......never mind.....will just have to spend more time in the sewing room....
