SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Aug 15th
August is half over!! What happened?? Where'd it go? Who too it??
IRISH - glad to see you aren't under arrest after all. After hearing the stories, that always surprises me. lol!!
BECCA - Did you have to stay at the accident as a witness? So scary!
Well, once again, our supper morphed into something different. Turns out all our potatoes were rotten. Double ick! We ended up with onions, garlic, sausage, and wide egg noodles all fried together. With sliced tomatoes on the side. Tonite - thick boneless pork chops cooked in the crockpot with either a cranberry sauce or a mushroom sauce. I'm not sure what else. Depends of if one of us goes to the store or not. I have a bit of rice and also some instant mashed potatoes. We're out of fresh veggies, too. I guess a shopping trip is in order soon.
What's the plan at your house?

Good afternoon from a very chilly, partly sunny, Sw. Pa...It got down into the mid 40s last night. This can't be August!
Mary, your dinners sound a lot like mine...Not too often have I stayed with the "menu".....Oh my, I could tell you stories and not only with my sister...I did find myself in handcuffs sitting in a police car one time...Jim's brother was on our local police force and he and a friend stopped by and before I knew it they had me hand cuffed to the steering wheel...Not sure why but they thought it was good for a few laughs...This was the same friend, who while on patrol, was hit from behind, pushed into a hillside and ended up sitting on DBIL's lap and breaking DBIL's hand...DBIL decided to leave the force and go into teaching. Thought it would be much safer.....
Becca, your dinner really sounds delish....And I also have had trouble with potatoes this summer...They have really gone up in price around here but the quality has gone down hill....
As for our dinner, (cover your ears, Mary), we're having that "mac n cheese"/noodle casserole....It's a cool day, perfect for making something in the oven and besides, Jim loves it.....Also thinking about making some cinnamon rolls......Oh well, there goes the diet!
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Aug 15th
I’ve been away from the table, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been eating. Wednesday I went to Joplin for my dental check up/cleaning. I stopped at DD’s on the way and unloaded produce and stayed a couple of hours to visit. After my appointment, I went to a friend’s with the rest of my produce. Pat and I used to work together—her office was upstairs from mine. We cross stitched, crocheted and quilted together for an hour before work and at lunchtime. We had a great visit, and of course I was late getting home. I brought dinner with me, as well as a cupcake or two that Pat sent home with me, so I was welcomed back. I skipped going to the store on my way home and had to get up early and go.
Yesterday I made a “scratch” marinara sauce that used 25 pounds of tomatoes. I gave up peeling the little Roma tomatoes that the neighbor gave me. They were about the size of cherry tomatoes. I popped them in the food processor and finally got 25# finished. The sauce then had to cook down for 5 hours before I could jar it and process it. All told, it took 12 hours of work. Today I made 5 pints of salsa using Mrs. Wages’ packet that DS3 said was good. The “scratch” is better, but this just took so much less time and will still be delicious. Now I’m processing 9 pints of salsa. I made some earlier, and it has been so good.
Dinner tonight is out at Big Ed’s Steak House. Our friends called and asked what we were doing this evening—nothing that couldn’t be dropped in favor of not cooking!
Irish—that was a funny—now—story about the tire bursting. I’m sure the Secret Service people had a few moments of high anxiety. I love your casserole, too.
Enjoy dinner!
