SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jul 27, 2014 11:15 pm

Well, looks like we've about got July whipped. It seems like the pages are fairly flying off the calendar this year! Did Father Time shift into high gear or what??

BECCA - Yes, unless your kids took the long way around they would have passed within about 1/3 mile of my house. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is about 5 miles from my house. (it's actually 2 bridges side by side - 1-1/4 miles long). If they crossed that bridge, they passed by me! If I'd known, I would have waved!

JANA - that's quite a big job Daniel has! We've driven through a lot of those rice fields. Sad to see what the water shortage is doing to CA agriculture.

JO - no, Jana is right. The Nationals are from D.C. Our team is the Seattle Mariners, and I don't think they give anybody fits. lol!!

Dinner with Warren and Lois was nice, though 3 people were no-shows. And poor Lois had a few dashes to the bathroom. The first time she didn't quite make it so the aide had to go get clean clothes for her. And the kitchen was confused and thought we were coming Saturday instead of Sunday, so that had to be cleared up. And finally, the desk was closed when we left and we couldn't pay, so we have to go back today to pay. But other than those four things, it all went well. lol!!

I guess I'm back in the kitchen tontie. Given that it's warm this week, BLT sandwiches might be a good idea. and I was thinking we even have all the ingredients. Then I remembered we don't have bread! The one thing we are NEVER out of! Somehow we'll make it work though.

Hope you can get your supper to work for you, too!

MaryZ--do you have any tortillas to make BLT wraps?

We will probably have sandwiches with all the trimmings. I still have a few left from yesterday of the ones I made for the work crew. The are subs on an Italian loaf--chipotle chicken, roast beef, shaved ham, cheese, and all the veggies on the side... tomatoes, romaine, onions, pickles, jalapenos... Then there is the fresh corn on the cob. I also have a few cookies left.

That was also last night's dinner since I didn't make it to the table yesterday. Busy day!

Good morning from a very chilly, dreary, yucky, SW. Pa....Not a nice day to be doing outside stuff....

Today is Terry's 49th birthday but we celebrated yesterday...1st. with Mass, then breakfast and then a dinner of General Tso's chicken and rice...Cake was double chocolate, chocolate icing and then covered with shaved chocolate....I'm still on a chocolate high! Or maybe it's the shock of my baby being 49....

Today, I'm meeting friends for Chinese (what else) and that means I won't be hungry for dinner...But, Terry and DIL are meeting friends and the boys are meeting an aunt for dinner so it will be just finding something for Jim, who won't care what he eats, lol.....

Happy eating...............

Good Evening All......another beautiful day....just a little cooler.....but some parts of the UK have had some really heavy downfalls with some shops getting flooded......

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:-

INSULTING THE COOK WILL RESULT IN.........SMALLER PORTIONS.....

Maryz...I fear you are right....the village meeting regarding the new housebuild sites were just window dressing....one developer wasn't even interested enough to turn up.....in our area we have 4 villages that use the same main road to travel to Hereford and other towns.....this road is narrow(as in country lane) and no pavement and in places no grass verges.....our village I think has population of about 2,500...... the extra houses in the building plan(covers all 4 villages)is 400 plus.....that is 800 extra cars....pressure on doctors.,BT phone lines..sewerage...schools....we know more houses are needed.....but not this amount in a smallish area.....all services are under pressure now.....trouble is ......those with the say-so......for want of a better word.....are brown-nosers(hope that doesn't upset anybody).....

lets get on to better things.....like food.....

Todays menu......Roast Chicken....Sage Onion and Apple Stuffing...Roast Potatoes....Cabbage and Carrots......Red Gooseberry Crumble and Cream

Irish--today is my baby's birthday, too. She is 47 today.

Carol--here they give new builders all kinds of freebies--free taxes, free lots, subsidies, free utility installation, you name it. Then, the city raises the taxes for new streets and roads/utility upgrades, etc., and the extra fees that are attached to the water/sewer bills for new construction and maintenance on the established people. Our rentals are not subsidized, no breaks of any kind. We are actually paying for the builders to build new rentals to compete with us. How unfair is that!

Becca--we still have at least another weekend's work on our barn. The kids are going to college and working this summer, so only weekends are free. Lake parties call them to knock off early, but they are kids. Actually, the 46-year-old son was also knocking off early for a lake party, too.
