Good morning,,,I have been downstairs already and got laundry started and dishes washing and toast and coffee and kitty fed....I am done in now. I still have the dreaded cold ans it has been a week. Hoping it goes away soon as i am tired of this.

My friend is doing well but in a lot of pain. They may send herr home tonight or tomorrow. Keep her in your prayers,,,

Might work on the quilts today Ken is helping my sis remodel her sun room..it was all door walls and she is putting in real walls and making it more like a 3 season room...or maybe even 4 season. before it was mostly summer only and collected junk the rest of the year. So that will keep him busy.

I need to stop by DDs and pick up a broken sensy plug in,,,the consultant will replace it and I need a new bulb for mine.

Such is life here,,,,Has anyone heard from Vicky? I am praying everything is ok with her. well back to it...have a great day all XXXOOO

Lois - ohhh a Hunter's Star quilt. I bought Deb Tucker's HS ruler at the quilt show and I have the perfect fabrics to make one but, darn it, it's getting farther and farther down the "to do" list. Have fun sewing today.

Suz - where did you get the tattoo and did it hurt? I'd love to have one. I hope your test is early today so you can eat and have coffee the way you like it.

Sue - good to see you here. Looks like I might have a weekend to sew - as in putting the floral log cabin together. With the storms coming this weekend we decided camping isn't what we want to do especially with all the stressed trees all around.

Jules - as soon as Suz mentioned getting a tat I thought about your pretty flower one. I love it. I'm glad you got to take a shower. I'm hoping that the storms this weekend will settle down our pollen. Enjoy your sewing today.

Scrap - are you talking about real snow birds or the RVers?

Izzy - are you talking about Hancock's of Pacudah that you are going to today? If so...I'm jealous. I'd love to see their batik section.

Sherry - I also think you should go ahead and get another dog. I also felt bad about taking Jacpot back to the shelter but we had no choice. We still have 2 dogs to come home to every day whereas you don't. So go look - you will find a good match soon. I'm glad you had fun at lunch yesterday. Aggravating about your phone.

Thanks everyone for the prayers for Don. I'm so happy the surgery is only several days away now and not several weeks. I hate waiting. I still haven't heard from my doctor about my Xrays but I will say that the steroids helped very little. After work yesterday I went to the grocery store then home for dinner and I baked, packed camping food (for nothing) and packed clothes (for nothing) and by the time I went to bed I was in p-a-I-n. I was still awake when Don's alarm clock went off at 4:00 - grrrrrrr. I'm really getting tired and rather punchy from lack of sleep. Anyway - enough of the geezer report (as my friend calls it). We are to get storms this weekend so we decided at 11:00 last night to just not go. So I'm going to go straight to my sewing room tomorrow morning and will get busy on that floral log cabin and save the applique (rooster) for watching TV at night. I'll also make Chicken & Dumpling Casserole tomorrow for us to eat this weekend because Don likes it so much. Come Monday he only gets thick liquids and on Tuesday he gets clear liquids only. Poor baby! That's it - nothing exciting.

I hope you all have a great weekend and get to fondle some fabric.

Judi - I imagine your friend is in a whole lot of pain. Prayers sent up. Several of my friends have nice big sunrooms and I'm jealous. If I had a big sunroom I'd make it my sewing/quilting room but the glass would all have to be the kind that won't let the sun rays get in and fade my fabric. I'd hate to have to hide them away in a dark armoire or closet. I like looking at them. Maybe Chickie has heard from Vicky.

CindyG - I got my tattoo on my upper arm. It is a tender place but tattoos don''''t hurt me. I guess I have a high pain tolerance. This is my 12th tattoo. Maybe if they would hurt I wouldn''''t have so many. :) :)

Good morning and TGIF –

Lois – I bet that baby quilt is darling! Can’t wait to see a picture of it. Hope your uglies fly by so you can hit the sewing room.

Suzette – I sure hope your test is early – nothing worse than starting the day caffeine-less. Your tattoo sounds neat and special. Your DH and you are in my prayers.

Sue – always great to see you. I’m intrigued by your shirt quilts. Do you use the cut-up shirt like any other fabric? Quite the clever girl! Enjoy your pecan coffee – and I’m with you on the creamer.

Jules – I do hope you get some rain to try and clean out the air, although the skipping straight to sewing sounds like a plan. How is Charlie liking teaching?

Leah – what are you reading? It’s a good thing when it gets warm enough for the snow to melt as soon as it hits the ground.

Izzy – you have a lovely day planned - enjoy! Seems like it’s either raining or snowing at your place.

Sherry – sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday – yay for you. I understand your sadness about Otis – you’ll get that new pup when the time is right for you. How wonderful to have people on the lookout for you. I hope they get your phone line fixed. Our phones are out more than they’re working, but I’ve gotten used to it.

Becca – 85? Good grief, I guess summer is in a hurry at your place. Happy washing to you.

Velda – welcome home! Sounds like spring is ready to burst out all over your place. I bet you can’t wait for that new project – anything you’re leaning towards?

Judi – my gosh that cold just doesn’t want to leave! I’m praying that every day you will start to feel better. How sweet of Ken to help your sister with her remodel – it sounds like a lot of work. Take it easy today.

Cindyg – I hate it that you are in such pain. Prayers being said for you and Don – hangeth thou in there, my friend. That chicken dumpling casserole sounds intriguing –I’ll have to go google the recipe. Happy sewing this weekend.

WE got about 9” of snow that was laden with moisture. I bet things start greening up here soon now. I’m still missing some things for the sewing hole – I guess it’s going to be a treasure hunt through the remaining boxes. I thought I had something epic to say, but I have forgotten – drat! Have a great day. xoxo Sharona

good Morning!

LOIS - you have quite a list of stuff to do! But it's good to have choices. Unfortunately, I know what I'd probably choose - and let the rest go! lol!

SUZ - good news about your DH. Yes, my doc always says black coffee is OK, too, but like you, I have to have my plain Coffeemate or it's not worth drinking. And I like your tattoo! So what was your dad's nickname for you? Or was it a private father/daughter thing? I'm going to guess "Tuffie" because you really hang in there and don't let anything knock you down for long.

SUE - so that's where you are! Down on Easy Street! I bet it's a beauty!

JULES - happy to hear that you're feeling a little better. Does fabric dust bother you? I've noticed that pre-washing really cuts down on the dust. How long has Charley been gone? Your own bed ALWAYS feels best!

LEAH - all of our birds have returned, too. We had to be careful driving yesterday for all the robins flitting around near the road!

SHERRY - Is it the weather that keeps knocking out your phone? Hope that's fixed soon! You will know when it's time for a new pup. and it will probably be as soon as you see his/her face!

IZZY - have a nice mo/da day! Does your DD like fabric stores? I got my hair cut the other day. It has been 4 months since my last cut. I forgot to tell her "now, not TOO short!". At least now it dries fast! lol!

BECCA - 85*! Seems you were just housebound because of snow!

VELDA - glad you are home! Don't hummers send out 'scouts' before the rest of them to find the feeders? Here, people put them out in February for the scouts but the rest of them don't show up until later in the spring.

IRISH - I'm a hardware store fan, too. DH just runs in, gets what he wants, and is ready to leave. I like to stroll the aisles and ponder things. Did you get that closet finished yet? Sounds like quite a chore!

CHICKIE - I've been worried about you with all the storms running through your neck of the woods! Everything OK? We have friends that are driving across country trying to get to their mom in PA who is in Hospice and not doing well. They are taking I-40 to avoid snow. I think they behind that belt of storms by one day. Oh, by the way, I had one branch of the family that moved from NY state to Olathe around turn of the last century. I might have cousins living close to you!

JUDI - Sorry you're still feeling punk. And a special prayer for your friend's healing. I was going to go to Joann's yesterday, too, because Bill had to go to Tacoma for steel pipes. But he was in the pick-up hauling his big flat-bed trailer so I opted not to make him haul that thing through all the tight streets and crowded parking lots just to drop me off and again to pick me up when I didn't really need anything. and later I was glad when I found the Joann's flyer in my mailbox. next Wed is Senior Citizen day!

LYN - I'll go check out your photo in a minute, but the idea of window panes sounds really cute! I may steal that one! Enjoy your FART!

TINA - your birdhouse quilt(s) are great! What color will the second one be?

CINDY - sorry you had to pack for nothing, but with the kinds of storms y'all get, and all the trees where you camp, better safe than sorry. and you seem to have found the silver lining for having to stay home! My tattoo is on the inside of my left wrist and yes, it hurt some, but wasn't too bad. I'd get another one - maybe - some day. I want you to hurry up and start your Televera (is that close enough?) quilt. It looks like a lot of applique fun!

SHARONA - you don't have to have something 'epic' to say for us to be pleased to hear from you!! Good luck on your treasure hunt! If you are anything like me, you'll probably find your things right where you carefully put them. lol!

Yesterday I finished the center part of my Hocus Pocus - 16 9-patch blocks - and put them all together. Now it's all about doing the embroidery, and one more evening of TV should see the first of my 12 embroidered blocks finished. It takes about a full skein of DMC floss to do each block. A few will take even more.

Today is going to be all about uglies. I'll be mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, and putting-away all day today. In between rounds with Mr. Maytag. And if the black hairy puffs I see all over the carpets are any indication, I think Mr. Scottie needs a thorough brushing, too!

Hope you have at least one delightful moment in your day!

Good Morning From Snow Covered Minnesota!

Another 9-10 inches on my driveway this morning! Need I say I am NOT happy! Only good thing is I don't have to go to work til later and the plows should be out to clear away the mess by the time I have to leave. Started with rain yesterday afternoon and then changed to snow, so there was a think coating of ice on the roads coming home last night. Supposed to warm up to 40 something so at least it won't last!

Leah.... did you get much snow yesterday? I was watching the news and I could see Winnapeg on the map.

Velda... You made it back to IL?? Do I remember correctly that you're staying with you son for a little while before you set up the camper again? We were just starting to see grass in the yard, but this new snow has covered up everything again!

Sherry... How fun to meet up with old friends and sit and chat for hours. I got to do the same thing the other night after work.. met up with a pharmacist I used to work with. Hope you get your phone fixed STAT!!! All our lines are underground here, so that helps a LOT. Hope you can find the perfect little puppy to bring home.

Cindyg.. So after all that packing and cooking, you decided to stay home? Will be thinking of Don on Wednesday and hope & pray that all goes well. Will they keep him in the hospital for a couple days? Steroid shot didn't help much? Hope they call you SOON about the x-ray!!!

Judi... .glad to hear you friend is doing well, but hope they are managing her pain. You went to Dr for your cold right? Did he/she give you an ABX or is it a virus and you have to live through it!

Becca... 85 degrees above zero for you yesterday!!! I am so jealous...even tho I'm not a fan of HEAT... I'm so looking forward to a day like that! ONE MORE DAY!

Izzy... I LOVE the dollar store!!! When I get my hair cut and colored with the blond, I call it my "annual overhaul" Sounds like you have a lot of things on your "to do" for the day! Love your Lotto block.. Haven't had a chance to even START mine yet. Probably won't get to this weekend, maybe next. I'm still trying to figure out how to cut the pieces!

Suzette.. would love to see a pic of your new Tattoo! You have 12?? I thought I was brave having 2!!! They do hurt girls! that's why mine are tiny. Hope all your lab work come back GREAT and you enjoy that first cup of coffee WITH CREAM!!

Sharon... I think you got the same snow storm we did!!! Or you started it and sent it this way. Hope you find your missing stuff, because you know as soon as you buy new stuff the old stuff will show up.

Lyn.... Oh how I would love to go on a F.A.R.T with you, especially to Corpus Christi... Actually I'd love to go to CC just to walk on the white sand beach!

Jules... sorry you having such breathing problems. What is all the pollution from? How is Charley doing? You are so lucky to have her close by.. can't tell you how much I miss my Jen! 30 days til I get to see her!!!

Maryz... Did you finally get your mammo? What a pain insurance is! I have mine schedule for next Friday! Oh boy Sr. Citizen day at Joann!! May have to stop there on my way to work next Wednesday, even tho I don't NEED anything, but when did that ever stop me from buying fabric!!

Yes, tomorrow is moving day!!!! Roomy has today off, and her plan was to take some stuff to her apt. today, but with the snow I don't know how much she'll get done. She told everybody at work that she was packed and ready to go... NOT!!! All she packed was her DVD's ---dirty laundry is still piled high in her room, none of her stuff from the bathroom is packed, none of her food. I hear her up this morning, but have no idea what she's doing. Her brother and sister were going to help her move, but I have sneaky feeling they canceled on her. She posted on FB for help moving, so perhaps a couple folks from work will come. I don't think she's made any arrangements for a truck to haul the big stuff. 1/2 of my garage is FULL of boxes and boxes of books and junk that she hasn't touched the whole time she's been here. Where she is going to put all that crap in a 1 bedroom apt.... I have NO idea... but it's sure not my problem.

Thank you all for listening to my rant, not that you have much choice... and thank you for sharing in my HAPPY DANCE. Remember Sunday 2:00PM CDT we'll be raising our glasses in JOY!

For now I better run, see if I can get a couple of my little messes cleaned up this morning. Will check the traffic cameras to see how bad the roads are before I head off to work. Sure hope they are in good shape when it's time to drive home in the dark!

Wishing you all a great day, but lots of prayers for all!

Good morning! Yesterday I helped DH with the wood and brush from another cedar tree. The ones we have here, while pretty, are an invasive tree. They will take over a pasture in no time and choke out all the grass. They don’t provide much wildlife cover, as no grass grows between them. They suck more moisture out of the soil than most trees. These came up in the waste area and in the old fence row by the hay meadow and have encroached into the hay meadow. DH is cleaning up the area and at the same time now making some wildlife habitat.

While helping, I wished I’d have had my camera. There were storms building in the south east, and the sky was an amazing, pure blue-gray. The sun was shining from the west on the hay meadow—still a wonderful warm, golden tan color from the winter giving it an almost luminous wheat color. In the distance there was a row of hedge trees punctuated with a deep green cedar now and then. I told DH it was the perfect palette for a quilt if I could find the fabrics. He looked at me kind of funny, and I told him one of the best ways to pick colors for a quilt was to take a picture you loved of nature and pick colors out from it.

Yesterday was 80 degrees. Today will be in the 50s.

Vicky is still having family issues. She covets your positive thoughts and prayers.

Suzette—you EARNED that tattoo! Flaunt it!!! How special to have a memory of your father. I can’t tell you the name my father called me.

Sue—I need to look for cotton shirts when I go to Salvation Army. I love the Bonnie Hunter scrap quilts.

Jules—hope your weather improves soon. That English rain keeps your atmosphere clean. A few weeks ago you had too much, now you need a shower. That’s how our rain is—too much or too little.

Scrap—stay in and enjoy your day today. You can dream of flowers and sunshine!

Izzy—I used to fight the gray but I gave in to it. I went to a Hancock’s fabrics in Minnesota and was disappointed. Then I heard that Hancock’s of Paducah is not affiliated with the other stores. I’d like to see Paducah’s batiks, too. I ordered my April lotto block fabric from them.

Sherry—it doesn’t hurt to look at pets. I’m sure one will find its way to you and be a perfect match. Someone who works with them on a daily basis would be a good source of information. DH never wanted a long haired dog, but Tinker Bell stole his heart the way Odie stole mine.

Becca—we keep alternating between winter and summer here.

Velda—“Yay!” for normal routine! No palm trees around here. I have been waiting to put out my feeders until it quits freezing at night. We are going for freeze tonight.

Judi—you are ahead of me. I have to start my laundry. I am going to dry it in the dryer instead of outside. Enjoy your day!

Cindy—Hunter’s Star is another one for my bucket list which is now filling two 55-gallon drums! Actually, if I put my stash in drums, it would fill more than that… I really liked your Southwest pattern, too. Beautiful!!! We have a lot of trees dying in the woods. I told DH it was because of the last several dry summers and they are stressed. The rain hasn’t been enough to support all of them. So sad!

Sharona—Send moisture our way. It went around us again yesterday. I know that snow is really helping the Colorado water supply. DH’s brother is an engineer in Ft. Collins. Moving is always full of surprises.

Lyn—know you are already having fun with your friends! Hope you find some neat fabrics!

Lois—I’m sure you are going to be having fun today, too!

MaryQ—I hope the snow won’t hold back the moving day! Apparently packing for your tenant doesn’t mean the same thing as it does to the rest of us. Our tenants throw stuff in garbage bags that they take and leave the rest for us to clear out. Don’t be surprised… We put stuff out on the curb, and in minutes the “vultures” are picking through it. Not much is left for the garbage pick up.

MaryZ—I-40 is right through the tornado belt. We’ve had regular Kansas winds, seen some lightning in the distance and heard some thunder… no rain or storms. We put the vehicles in the barns, and I need to go get my truck today so I can drive it to town tomorrow. DH had the car in the garage, so he has wheels. Shelly said they had hail about 3:00 yesterday. Those must have been the gray clouds I thought were so pretty. You might have some relatives around Lyn, too. She has family in Olathe. I do have Irish ancestry as well as English and German…

Time to get busy here! Enjoy today!!!

Good morning. Trying to keep from nodding off here at my desk this morning.....hopefully, it will pick up around here before too long. Today will be a short day for me. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon for my kneesles. I will probably leave work around 1 p.m.

DH is leaving this morning for TX. He is excited to be going to the basketball games this weekend. Go Cats!

DGS came home with DH last night. They had Spring Break this week, so we didn't have to worry about getting him up early for school. He sure does loves his Papaw...almost as much as he loves Papaw's iPad! LOL Since the iPad and Papaw will be gone all weekend, he has decided to stay at his daddy's house. He assured me that he loves me and will stay with me next week! He is such a stinker! LOL

Guess I have no excuse for not getting some sewing done. I really need to work on the R&W swap blocks, but I also have a couple of blocks that I need to put together for my "kitchen quilt" that a few of us from our guild are doing. They want to have a big "reveal" in a couple of weeks. I probably won't be revealing anything! We shall see. LOL

Well, I better get off here and do some actualy work. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Mel
