Good morning all
So far we have about 3 inches of snow not the 6 they forecasted but of course the day just began. The weather channel said the weather will remain colder than normal all spring. I was hoping for warmer temps.
Today I have some minor uglies to do. Then into my sewing room to finish the last SBS block for the week.
Vicky I luv your sewing room. Your SBS blocks are beautiful. I may have to consider how my sewing room is set up. I have a 8 by 3 closet I thought would be enough for fabric and supplies. NOT. LOL
The actual room is 16 by 18 ft. I am going make myself follow your lead and organize it.
Maryq I hope you enjoy your laundry room. Just hang in there maybe
you need to make more hints to your problem.

All the rest of you have a happy sewing day.

Good Sunday morning!

We did get our snow - about 3 inches but more is on the way. We do have some ice so the truck has been started so it will melt off before we go to church.

Teresa - I have also been accused of being a man because I have been hoarse. Prayers are coming for your family so they develop an understanding of other obligations.

Suzette - I hate it when I get a nice piece of fabric and the bolt has been pieced together. I have been known to buy the shorter piece and a cut from the other. Yesterday, it was sunny and in the higher 30's. Today, 17 so far.

Leah - Pizza for every meal - a pizza lover's dream. As for the boys and the quilt thing, men seem to be more analytical and have been raised to believe the sewing is a women's thing.

Vicky - I love Copeland, The Firebird Suite, and Dvorak. If I remember right, when cigarette commercials were allowed on TV, some of Copeland's works were featured for Marlboro.

Lois - Enjoy your Joann's trip. I stopped yesterday to replace the piece I messed up when cutting. I was also looking for more fabrics for a different quilt but I do believe that while this store is big, I need to go to a superstore. The closest in about 75 miles away. Can anyone say ROADTRIP!

Mary Z - Enjoy your day with DD. As for the snow, we can get it anytime until the beginning of April. We even had it snow in the middle of May. Odd - yes but it happened.

Kathy - Due to health issues in the family, we got a snowblower. It has sure saved the back.

Tina - Sorry to hear about the vehicles. Those machines can be so temperamental.

Becca - Have a good day with lunch out and those errands.

Kathy2 - Minor uglies at our house tend to turn into major ones.

MaryQ - I liked the idea someone had about having the contractor got into the room mates room and talk abut ways to use the room after it is redone. Make it up as you go.

Time to go to church and get cold on the way. Have a blessed day -

Diana

Good Morning,,,it is foogy here and 54 right now....sunshine is forcast and that makes me happy...I will walk on the beach today I haven't been on this part of the beach as it has been 5years since we have been here,

We had the heater on last night and it is damp...

I hope to get sewing today,,,,I am still pulling my hair out on the FPP block. I have realized another fact. I copied my pattern on vellum...and it is hard to know which side is the right side to sew on...I have sewn wrong 3 times...I have unsewn 3 times...I now have my pattern full of tape...I used white tape and now i can see what side to sew,,,, who knew. I did start to put the red and white hexxie together though so some things are getting done...

Ken has asked if I want to put up the screen house and set up a sewing room in there,,,,I am thinking but worried about my (60s) machine as it is all metal....might the dampness down here cause her to get rust,,,wouldn't want to get her rusty,,,she sews beautifully...Since she was made in England not sure about parts.

Well it is ppast 9am and ken is finally up. must make us some breakfast....and get on with the day,,,,Hope your sunday after noon is awesome....I know mine will be,,,XXXOOO

Good Morning Girls

It's bright and sunny... but guess what it's 14 below ZERO! YIKES!!!
I have to go get groceries today or else, but man I don't want to go out in this cold! It could be worse tho I guess, it could be snowing--in which case I wouldn't leave house, I'd just order pizza delivered!

Laundry room is painted, and now just have to wait until Wednesday for the new washer to arrive.! Spent all day in there yesterday--2 coats of primer and a coat of paint--oh wait I guess I told you all this yesterday.. duh. I'm so looking forward to being able to wash clothes again!

Teresa.. Such good news that Aria is better!!! Will send lots of prayers for Courtney. When DEX was in pharmacy school they didn't have to do rotations, just work for year at a pharmacy of their choice. It's got to be much harder and more stressful to have to change positions every 5-6 weeks. We have lots of interns where I work, but they all seem to be learning something, which is a good thing. One of our interns gave us all a lesson on Colostomy supplies--it was really helpful to all us technicians working with patients in nursing homes. I hope that Courtney enjoys her rotations--as stressful as they are.

Diana... Room mate already knows what has to be done in her room! Yesterday she ran to Target and came home and sat on the couch until about 10pm last night. I've asked her 3 TIMES to clean up her stuff in the family room where the contractor is going to work on Tuesday. While I'm painting she asked me if I needed help! My guess is that Monday Night, she'll move her stuff... unless I crack the whip on her today!

Kathy2.... You have an 16 x 18 foot room!!! Color me jealous! Oh what I could do with a room that big!! Shelves every where, stuff organized, sorted and labeled. One of my co-workers stopped by yesterday and offered to come help me organize and clean this summer. Her DH is going over seas to work for a year..I think she'd love to keep busy!

Tina.... a blown engine! That does not sound good! Maybe it's time for Tina to get a new car!!!

Kathy1... OH MY GOSH Taxes!!!! I totally forgot that's on my list of things to do this weekend!!! I'm waiting for 1 more paper from my bank, and they are always so late with it. I'm just hoping I get a refund... would come in handy to pay off the new washing machine!

Maryz... that's the thing I dread most about going to AK... is having to say Goodbye and leave my girl so far away! Hope you guys do something fun today!

Judi... a walk on the beach sounds absolutely wonderful!!!! It does get very humid in FL... maybe best to leave machine in the camper! We had a suitcase in FL once that got totally filled with mold when we left it in screen porch for a few days! Had to go buy a new one to come home.

Lois... I got some Joann coupons in the mail the other day... I don't DARE go there!!! Hope you find some good deals tho!!! Haven't been to Joann for so long, I surprise they haven't called looking for me!

Vicky... have to tell you again how much I love your sewing room!! My cutting table is an old lower kitchen cabinet... but seeing how you have your ironing table gives me a great idea for what to do with the shelves inside, that are now stuffed with scraps!!! Oh dear... something else on my to-do list!

Guess I better bust a move here if I'm ever going to get anything accomplished today. Need to go to Home Depot and pick up a few things.. new shelves for the laundry room, a couple new light fixtures for downstairs hallway, maybe new ones for my bathroom, then to Target for groceries.

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

We've never had a "new" vehicle, just new to us :-) unfortunately we haven't won the lottery yet so nothing new or used will be coming our way anytime soon. We've had this one for 13 years and she's 18 years old, we we're her second owners.

Good morning. the slumber party went well.. the kids went to sleep around 4 this morning so it is nice and quiet now.. I must sleep like a rock because I didn't hear a thing after 10pm. the mess they left was minimal.. it's good to be eleven years old...

Friday Jerry had the IEP meeting with the school.. Marilyn is under the special education program because of her behavior and she was way below her grade level. well at Friday's meeting she was taken off special ed because she is either average or above average in her testing and her behavior has completely turned around.. there will be no more education plans for her, she is on her own..

Maryq.. sorry about your forgetting your purse.. and sorry your roommate isn't facing reality.. what else did you buy at CT? your laundry room sounds wonderful...

Izzy, I feel the same way about my son as you do.. but it would be a soft stick...wish I were there for your corn on the cob... I could make a meal of it.

Sooz... hope you're feeling better.. did you figure out the drawing? go to the top of the page and click on the logo.. scroll to the bottom where it talks about the drawing and sign up... I have never won but I think Judi won once..

Jana, how was your kid free day.. your quilt guild sounds fun...

CArole, I just googled Diane's garden.. it really will be pretty...are you using batiks on black? sorry about Luke...

Florence, enjoy your snow.. I am happy to stick with rain... although it seems the ground has just soaked up all we've had so far.

Teresa, I am so glad Aria is doing better... what a blessing..prayers for DD.. people may be miffed that she can't attend events now but in 5 or so years it won't even be discussed.. everyone will move on with their lives and who did or didn't attend the event won't even be discussed.

Suzette.. I always choose the biggest bolt of fabric to be cut unless I want to guess at how much is on the bolt and ask for less and be offered the rest for a discount... may sound like cheating but it works.... they have peel and stick tiles that are like linoleum that we put in Marilyn's bathroom.. they are great.

Leah, sounds like you need to have a pizza party..

Vicky, enjoy your concert... and your quilt room is gorgeous.. what a fun place to play.

Lois.. enjoy your coupon using.. hope you find some real treasures.

Maryz.. happy mom/daughter day.. hope it's a blast.

Kathy, great idea about tiles like a quilt pattern.. hope your snow is easily shoveled..

Tina, hope your vehicle repairs are easily fixed.. nice that DD was able to come get you.

Becca, there is a lot of cheer in your post..it made me smile..

Kathy2.. you have a nice big room to work in.. you can surely do a lot with it.

Diana, remember that song 50 ways to leave your lover? well we should make one up for Maryq.. 50 ways to lose your roomie...lol...

Judi, enjoy the beach.. how are Liam and Nolan? can't wait to see the red and white hexi's...

Maryq.. before it's over you'll have a brand new freshly painted house.. how cool.

my red fabric has been dried. my SP block is half done and I am ready for some breakfast then ironing red... it's going to be a great sew day.

you all have a fun day too,
Chriss

Good morning! Yesterday was a busy day, and I never made it here, but I read all the posts. The goat sweaters are so cute!

We lucked out (so far) on the ice. It’s cold here and getting colder with fierce winds—just slight snow and icing for now. More is on the way, and we’ll drop to the minuses tonight. Too darn cold for March!

Teresa—Great news of Aria! Best wishes for Courtney. Pharm school sounds so much more intense than it used to be.

MaryQ—I could have used the colostomy supply help when I had my late DH home on hospice. I was in charge and did it all—he had no interest in doing anything for himself. I hope you can get your tenant out SOON!!! You may be doing the packing. I have a big room, but I need my DD for the organizing… I’ll keep my 11 degrees—your -14 makes it sound balmy!

Suzette—I like the idea of the tile for your floor… easy clean up! We are under the winter warning until midnight tonight.

Scrap—that’s crazy about the pizza delivery! Although, I do like pizza for breakfast. Kittens on the keys do strange things…

Vicky—your sewing room is delightful! You and Em will enjoy the concert! The music is beautiful. Stay safe!

Lois—hope you find some good bargains at JoAnn’s!

MaryZ—Hope you are warmer down there!!! Good thing you aren’t going north today. WIND and COLD!

Kathy—great idea on the patterned tiles! I need to fire up the crock pot, too!

Tina—so sorry about your car! We keep patching and repairing our vehicles. No delivery out here, either. UPS and FEDEX even deliver a lot of stuff to the PO in town rather than wasting time trying to find us.

Becca—enjoy your day! The weather everywhere is crazy!

Kathy2—I saw a sewing organization program to set up in a triangle—much like kitchen design. Your cutting space—off from the fabric storage, the sewing area, and the pressing area. I’m somewhat like that—just very messy.

Diana—Every time I go for fabric it is a road trip. Drop by here sometime and take the long way around. Stay warm!

Judi—Are you and Irish the only ones who are slightly warm? I would trade a beach and 54 for our howling winds and 11 degrees. The birds are all puffed out trying to stay warm and eat the sunflower seeds and hen scratch. I’d kind of wonder about my machine outside for any length of time in that atmosphere, but I don’t know for sure.

I have to check the laundry again and get busy. Lots to do around here today… maybe sewing, but who knows? DH has asked for biscuits and gravy for brunch… come on down and join us!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Good Morning Everyone!!
We are having more rain this morning!! YEAH!!! The paper says the coast near where I live has received a total of 4 inches of rain this season and 10 inches is normal for this season to date. I will say we are at 57*F. This storm has been somewhat warm although very windy. Yesterday we had a little hail and lightening and thunder. The cat was not happy with the thunder!! It is also a good thing it is warm, because the apricot tree has set fruit and the peach trees are in bloom. Tell me you want to lose California's fruit crops? I don't even want to lose my backyard fruit.

I went with friends to a quilt show yesterday. We did get caught in a very heavy downpour on the way home, but most of the day was dry. The show was very nice and it was nice to be out with friends.

Chriss - Congratulations!!! Marilyn is definitely an exception to the rule and one that all educators strive to see happen. I am happy for her and for you. Her teachers must be thrilled to see the improvements in behavior and academics. She sounds much happier too. Not sure why the adoption hasn't gone through, but this news should be told to them. Anyone that knows about children would be quite impressed. This is a most unusual development, and such a happy outcome!! Again congratulations to all of you!
Carol

A quick hello.

VELDA - hope you are feeling better.

LEAH or is it LEA - Got an email last night from a friend in your neck of the woods. Said it was -48 with wind chill and that it's been the coldest winter in 67 years. Stay warm. I like Pizza!

VICKY - Like the wall color in your sewing room. No point in posting a photo of mine, it's a disaster area, Literally!! Also like all the beautiful blocks on your design wall. Are they for a special quilt or just 'cause.

Yesterday friends met me in Estes Park and we had lunch. These friends are the ones that designed my kitchen 10 years ago and we became good friends. Anyway we went to the house after and he helped me get the hardwood floor up. The sub-floor was better than I thought, but the hardwood floor was wet. Between the two there is a plastic layer with Styrofoam that helps the floor float. It was wet in places. I gathered it up and put it in the sink, so if it leaks it won't be on the floor. Got the estimate for clean up and will send it on to Insurance tomorrow.

Going down to my DD's for the afternoon.

Hugs and prayers to all,
Lyn
