When I do start sewing my quilt together I am thinking about using my best 100 blocks and the others to make shams. I think with sashing and borders it will make my quilt the size I want. I am going to wait until they are all made to decide but I am sure anxious to see MEPIECE'S!
What are your Dresden Plates like Tess? Mine are all 1930 reproduction prints appliqued to muslin squares. I want it to look old...like me! LOL I plan on handquilting it. I like to have a hand-project to work on in the evenings. Will post a picture when I get it sewn together.

This is one of my Dresden Plates. I used only small scraps from my stash. I didn't have any large pieces of fabric for a border, so I pieced it. So glad I did--I love the pieced border.
I made a Dresden for my daughter, but didn't get a picture.
The one I need to set up is 1930 reproduction fabrics set up on white fabric.
Izzy, I love your little girl. I always wanted to make Sunbonnet Sues, but didn't have time until my Daughter was grown. Well I got hooked on making them and completed 3---all different. I still would like to make another one. Looks like you have a stack of Dresden plates completed. You sure get a lot done--quilts, farmwork and working. Girl, when do you sleep?

That is absolutely beautiful tess. Did you needle turn? I plan to attempt it with mine. I really want to do the top all by hand after blades are sewn together. We will see LOL the ones we did on sbs have been a challenge for me but I am determined to do it:)

I do sleep. LOL not well and do suffer from insomnia a lot take pill to help quiet my mind LOL cant figure why my mind runs mile a minute. Wish I could tone up while it was running :))

izzy

Wow Tess and Izzy....you two amaze me! LOVE your Dresden Plates! I just got done stacking mine to start sewing them together.
Tess...did you handquilt yours????? And, I just love your border!
Did you stitch in the ditch between each blade? I can't tell from the photo. I just love it!!!!!
Good job...both of you!

Izzy, Your blocks are lovely. Yes, I did needle turn... I would love to get my other Dresden blocks into a quilt top, but Bonnie's mystery is first in line.
Susie, yes I hand quilted it. No, I didn't stitch in the ditch between the blades--it's about 1/8 inch away from the seam. I will do 1/4 inch on the 1930 repos, that's what I usually do. The older ladies who taught me to quilt always quilted 1/4 inch away from all seams. That's the way I learned and it still looks best to me. I guess it's what you get used to.

Izzy your blocks are lovely. Tess I have only done a small Dresden
plate never a whole quilt. I am into samplers right now. All of your blocks are very pretty. I am sorry my pictures are late for last week , Will try to have all pictures in by Friday.

I have row A put together however I changed block 8 for another one.
That block had a problem and I will remake later.
Now on to putting sleeves on quilts that I am showing in the guild show March 29.

Have a great day.
