Hi, I am back from wound care duty. The incision is at least 2" long above his right eyebrow on his forehead. His right eyelid is really swollen. Think the tape was really pulling on that whole area. Still feels sticky and gluey all around where the tape was. Tried rubbing alcohol and got off what we could. No bleeding but he has 10 stitches in there so I have my own Frankenstein, but a lovable one.

He just told me something he had forgotten about the day of the surgery. He said they got down to the stem of the cancer then took a piece, froze it and sent to lab to see if they had it all. They told him all of that cancer is gone. Now that is good news he should have shared earlier. So glad he shared it now. Sometimes he forgets too.

Thanks again for all your prayers today and always. So nice to have friends and family to go to when our heart is aching, our fears are beyond our own capacity to understand, and our own faith and strength is a little weaker due to worry and caring duties and lack of sleep. May God bless you all greatly for helping each of us in our time of need.

And special thanks to Eleanor Burns and her staff for providing not only a place to share our quilting problems but also our lifely problems as well. This is indeed a "family" brought together by our love of quilting and also our need to share with others on all parts of our lives. May God bless QIAD and all who work there.

Gotta scoot. Bitterly cold outside. 9* right now but sure feels a lot colder. I filled up the bird feeder with the last of the seed. Sorry little birdies. Rod doesn't need to be out in this and I DO NOT drive on ice and snow. LOL Take care and hope you all have a fantastic day at work or home with your family, pets and friends. At least touch some fabric today. It will warm your hearts and make you smile.

Sending love, lots of hugs, and prayers across the miles. Shirley Mae

A quick Hi to all.

Velda and I went to Port Lavaca and Victoria yesterday. Both quilt shops are nice, but my favorite is in Victoria. Have to back up a moment. When we were in Cheyenne, WY, last September, I stopped at the quilt shop and found a fabric called "Foundation by the Yard" "Crazy for You". It has a crazy quilt design block (20 of them) and you use it like paper piecing only you don't have to remove the fabric when done. I thought it would be fun to try. I had a couple fat quarters, but need 13 total. The fabric I wanted is Robert Kaufman's Fusion, it has a twig design on it. Well, as Velda noted, I hit the jackpot in Victoria. They must have the full line of Fusion and pulled all out for me, then the lady helped, Velda too, in deciding colors. I bought fat quarters for most, but the pink and green are so pretty together I had to get 1/2 yards of each. Not sure when I will get to it, but it's ready now.

It has warmed up enough that I think Velda and I can head to Corpus now. Will fill ya'll in more later.

Good morning!

The freezer is working great! Now on to move everything back from Sarah's house - so nice of her freezer to loan it's space!

Sarah and Ethan will be here later - her cousin in law is coming too - she just got a new embroidery machine and wants me to show her some of the tricks that I have learned over the years of having mine - what tricks - I am still learning! LOL

Got the blocks all sewn for the first set of the mystery blocks with El - most of them came out perfect - only had four - missed a couple of the match points by just a couple of threads - so they will live - you have to look very hard to see that I missed - but I know that I did - so they may just get ripped out and re-done - it is not 2 a.m. in the morning! LOL The new pattern for this month's blocks arrived yesterday - may get started before the show - they don't look that hard - I will see.....

Same old same old - the weather is giving us lots of cold and now more snow with a mix of rain in the valley floor - that usually means just snow for me - I am higher up on the side of the Oquirrh Mountains. But to say the least, it is a heat wave - we are up to 21 degrees!

So I am off to finish the birdhouses and press the blocks

Have a great day!
Do something fun!
Hugs
Jana

Just a quick pass through. I started to read the posts, but don't have much time. DGD is here with a cold. First time she has missed school because of illness this year. Tomorrow is a sledding party, here, and I am trying to get her to rest. Not doing well. I am also trying to clean the sewing room. We will have a crowd to feed.

If you have time please say a prayer for the safe return of a 5 day old boy missing since yesterday morning. He's from Beloit, Wi. and it's all over the local news and this morning I saw it on the national news.

I really like fusions too!! I have a lot of the older ones with the vines. Some day soon I will make a quilt for me with them.

Sorry I don't have time to read all of the posts. I am off to make a giraffe, and dh is off to look at a cow. Toot may be coming to a new home here today. If not she may be a 4-h project for someone else.

Stay warm, hugs and prayers for all. Should be able to get back here and read the rest.

Good afternoon from a very sunny but COLD, Sw. Pa....This is getting to be just a bit ridiculous, if you ask me!

Not sure what's on our schedule for today...Might go shopping for a stove, might just decide to stay home and hibernate...Who needs an oven? After spending all that money for a key replacement, I don't want to spend any more....And I know, one of these days, I'll find those keys....Kathy said maybe the fur-kids hide them in their litter box.....

Scrap48, I love, love the picture of your fur-baby...He looks just like my Clancy, who has been gone for 2 years but I still miss him dearly..There is something special about an orange tabby....And to help you with your undie problem, do what Chriss would suggest, turn them inside out....See problem solved!

SharonK, had you been reading my mind...I had been thinking of calling Mr. Schwann and asking if he'd make a special stop before I left...Of course, it just wouldn't be the same as him coming in the summer dressed in his shorts, lol....My bags are still packed and ready to go and I am supposed to leave on the 16th, that is if the weather cooperates...But, I can always change...

Judi, I think Ken has the right idea about leaving early...The one day, this past week, that our roads were decent, Jim was ready to ship me off to the airport....But, you'll get motivated, just keep thinking, sun, sun, sun.................

Maryz, On the move again but sounds like you're really enjoying your travels...Glad your DB is sounding better and hope he gets special care and a quick "feel better"....Please take picture of the meeting of the quilters dinner........We need to see these things....

Vicky, you have been under the weather way too long...I'd check with Med First or one of those clinics...We have a couple around here and they are wonderful...Of course the 1st thing you have to do is, slow down.......Feel better soon.....

Cindy, know you're looking forward to your weekend away...Good idea to call and check on your RX...Funny they didn't put a little note on it explaining what was what....All our lakes are frozen and like Karlene said, how in the world can anyone sit out there on the ice and fish! Doesn't make sense to me......Hope you have great weather for your weekend.....

Well, I think it's time for me to put the kettle on and have another cup of tea...Jim just washed the car and hopefully, he won't want to take it our of the garage and mess it up...My sewing room is nice and cozy and that's where I want to spend my afternoon.....

You all have a great day,
Stay warm, stay safe
Dorothy

Izzy, I forgot to tell you, I talked to Kathy last night about sending your goats through the mail....She did say, she's had bees and poultry come through but so far no goats....She's also sure, they'd eat through the wrappings.. Her friend had never seen a stink bug and I volunteered to send him some but she told me, it's against the law.....She did also tell me, she received someone's ashes that came to her post office by mistake...Not a pleasant thought......

Karlene--DH's Ranger is also a stick shift on the floor. Sometimes it's a little exciting... Maybe if DH gets another truck sometime, we'll get a full-size truck instead of the Tonka Toys we drive now. Mine is a Nissan Frontier. I don't want to get rid of mine.

Irish--The extra set of keys to my truck burned up, so I have to be careful. I haven't ordered another set... mostly because of cost, and my truck is 14--how long will she last? It was fortunate the truck had keys in the ignition (all the vehicles did) or they would have gone with the house... I hear you counting the days to Florida!

Lyn--I have some of the foundation by the yard as well. More quilts for my bucket list!

I forgot to tell you something I think is pretty funny. My DH really stepped in "it"! I received a new quilt magazine with a quilting trip to Bali. I've always wanted to see batik fabrics made and bring back some. I told him it was "only" $5,000 plus fabric expense, and he could go with me for another $5,000. His eyes bugged out then glazed as he clutched his chest. He keeps his billfold in his overalls bib pocket. He told me it would be cheaper if I ordered it from the US and stayed home. So, now I have a $5,000 batik fabric budget!!! Well, that's how I understood it... I'm not sure he believes he told me I could do that... I'm going to tease him a bit... and probably make a few orders...

Lyn and I got back from our "road trip" Shop Hopping. It was a lousy day, weather wise, but we had a great time. Each shop had a little gift for each person attending. Yesterday, we got fat qtrs., pens, one shop gave us a small mini project, one gave us a book marker shaped like a heart, I got a drink coaster with a cardinal picture on it. Today, we got another fat qtr.(these were Texas themed fabric, by the way).

Some gave us candy in our bags, also, each shop had refreshments served. It's quite fun. This was my first time doing something like this. It is fun to go with a special friend who also quilts.

Also gives you an excuse to have lunch out. All in all, a great Ladies day Out!!!

Velda and Lyn--sounds like a wonderful time!!!

Chriss--we have so many new ones here... if there is enough interest, count me in on another autograph swap. I still have one I haven't put together, so I could add to the front and put duplicates on the back...
