Good Morning all! Church was cancelled this morning as was all of the churches in my area. The snow is really coming down. It is really going to get cold tomorrow through Wednesday. I am so sick of this cold weather. The furnace is working just fine since the wind died down. This has never happened in the 33 years we have lived here. I am going to have them come this week. I think they may need to raise the chimney so that it draws better. I can't believe my neighbors across the road are gone. They have told everyone to stay home because the roads are very bad, but they can't stand to do that. You don't have to tell me twice.

Maryq - Know what you mean about neighbors too. After he got done plowing yesterday I gave him a plate of homemade peanut cookies I had made to take home. He won't take any money to plow us out, but I was sure he wouldn't turn down cookies. LOL

Vicky - Glad you are feeling better.

Becca - Will send prayers for your friend Ligea.

Well, better go and finish my coffee. Not sure what I will do today. I really don't feel like doing much. I think I have the Winter Blahs!!

Good afternoon! Sherry, I could hardly believe your snow day! We are going for 60 degrees today. Unfortunately it won’t last. Tomorrow will only reach 20, and tomorrow night will be 1 degree. No wonder everyone is sick!

I had a nice visit with Mom yesterday. She was making a doll apron. My sister received a big doll (wears size 4 toddler dress) when she was a little girl. She played with it, and for years it stood in my aunt’s bedroom. When my sister had a little girl, she played with “Susie”. Now, my niece has a little girl, and Susie is a part of the family once again. Mom made Susie and Emma (my great niece) matching aprons. I hope they will send photos!

Mom has a partial box of honeybun strips and was wondering what to do with them. I suggested a “Jelly Roll Race” quilt. The strips should make a doll quilt for Emma to play with Susie. I need to see if I can find some scraps to go with the strips to use as borders and backing.

I will see Mom again tomorrow when we go in to town to work on the laundry room at the rental.

Vicky—so sorry everyone is still battling illness there. Sometimes it’s best not to go out among others either to spread “it” or catch “it”…

Judi—Have fun at the hockey game. We will have those bitter winds tomorrow. I hate having to go out in them, too.

Becca—so sorry for your friend’s diagnosis. I pray she will win the battle—all things are possible.

Suzette—I hope you and your friend get to spend time together before she moves. Oh! Fabric gifts—she is a wonderful friend! That cake is so good!!!

Kathy—enjoy your day with the guild! You sound so happy now that you aren’t working.

Scrap48—I think I heard about that gas line explosion—so scary! Pray everyone will be safe without heat. Best wishes to you with the quilt show/sale! Enjoy your sewing time!

Tess—so glad you don’t have to go out today! I love the long set back driveways until bad weather. Stay safe!

Chriss—my mom uses her toaster oven and microwave. We try to fix only things that do not have to use the burners. She also has a Keurig so the coffee maker does not get left on. DH’s mother “forgot” to eat—one of the reasons she lived with us was for nutrition and her meds which she also forgot to take.

Sandy—I’m sure the grands had fun sledding. I’m always amazed at how they can handle the cold. Was I ever that way? I seem to be forever cold now.

MaryQ—I started with coffee and am going for tea. My feet are too cold to go without shoes and socks this time of year. I hear ya with the cat litter, and I love cats. Sure hope your squatter finds a place of her own. Are you checking the rental ads too?

Sherry—when I was by myself, my neighbor came and blew the snow off my drive. He was the only person in the neighborhood to have a blower (we usually didn’t get enough snow to use one) and was having fun with his new toy. I had a cheesecake in the freezer and he was thrilled with my offering of “pay”.

Sharona—are you starting to feel like joining the world again. When I’m sick, I don’t want to be anywhere. Get well soon! We miss you!!!

I have a pile of dishes to clean up, then I can maybe go work on my birdhouses… Have a blessed Sunday. Enjoy today.

Good morning.

Another gorgeous day here in the PNW. Still pretty cold, though. Got up early to take DGS back home. Now I am catching up on emails and such. Plan on going up to the old sewing hole today...never did make it up there yesterday.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello.

Hugs and prayers for those in need.

Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning (for those west of us!)!!

We went to church, and not only that, but filled 2 pews, with my parents, my sister and BIL, my aunt and her sister!!

After that, it was lunch with the crew, what a blast!!

Working on a new cover for my sister's KitchenAid mixer, for her birthday (tomorrow), so I'm not on the computer much today!

Weather is finally warming up down here, but supposed to turn cold again mid-week. I did hear one forecast of possibility of snow in Tallahassee!!

Hello all of you. I was in here very early this morning, but did not post, as I had to get breakfast and get ready for church. Now back from church and finished with lunch, I can relax and chat.

First thing I noticed this morning was Vicky, you got the DAY WRONG!?

I might be retired and get my days mixed up, but today is Jan 26, not 28. LOL. I thought one of you would mention it, but I guess you all just were not awake yet either. LOL

That's OK, we forgive you Vicky, not a problem.

Everyone is trying to keep warm and even though it has been cold here for us in south Texas, it doesn't compare to the freezer you all are dealing with. Get the quilt finished, so you can snuggle in it.

I won't try to reply to each of you, or I will be here for the whole afternoon. I want to do a little sewing today, or maybe I will just do a little reading??? I don't know yet.

Prayers for all the needs and happy day for all the joys.
Hugs and thanks for being my friends.

I had a great time with Lyn and her neighbor friend, Carol yesterday at the quilt show in Rockport,TX. We were trying to get her(Carol) to join us here on QIAD. It would be nice to have her join in the fun, too. I didn't buy much, but sure enjoyed seeing all the pretty quilts and lots of fabric and notions in the vendor's booths.

Well, you all keep warm and do a little stitching.

Velda

I just posted pictures of the wonderful stash my friend gave me. One thing she gave me was a 12 block, block of the month set from Thimbleberries. It even has the fabric for each block. Please go and check it out. I had to post the pictures in 2 entries.

Back home anf warmer.....it is around 9 now wind chill still-9 though...the game was so sweet and Liam scored a goal for his grammie...Sophia got crabby as soon as the parents showed up///LOL She can get away with so much with themm She listens to me though...

Chriss.....I have a friend who knits and loves purses.Sooooo when she wants a new purse I trade for some wool socks....used to be wool sock would itch you to death,,,,but now she makes them out of a soft wool that does not itch. wash in the washer and dry in the dyer wool////I wear them all winder with a pair of Sherpa slippers...I might look dumb but my feet are warm. Tennies are reserved for warm weather or outside...in the winter I have my minnesota boots. I bought them in Minnesota when my DD said I wouldn't need them and it snowed and snowed and snowed....They are Sorrels and toasty warm....if my feet are cold I cry literally cry I hate it so much.

Well I am washing quilts today....all of the ones we use on the kids bed and on the chairs....do this twice a year so though I would do it today....(actually I had very little laundry and needed to make a whole load) one thing led to another...and they will all be clean and dry and ready for bedtime...(it is a spring cleaning thing)

I don't have to cook today ken took me to lunch and as usual they gave us enough food for 2 meals so we will have the other half for supper and no cooking today,,,,I am truley blessed. have a great dayXXXOOO

Hi, girls,

It's a lazy day here in Arizona. My brother started getting worse again so they left this morning for home. It will take them 5 days to get there. His pneumonia is giving him a lot of respiratory distress. I told him to not hesitate to stop at an ER or Urgent Care if he needed to. Being an old heavy equipment operator/welder, he immediately thought they he'd look up a machine shop instead and ask them for a whiff from their oxygen tanks!

After they left, DH and I went for a 2-hr trail ride in the RZR. Came back to camp, had a sandwich, and then he fired up the generator. I've been working on some quilt blocks. I'm making headway on them! Tonite, we're going to BBQ burgers and take a short, slow buggy ride to dump our trash.

Sounds like you all are busy, but cold! And so many of you sick. Prayers for healing and good health to you all.

And Mary Q, I love cats, but hate cat litter mess, too! YUCK!

Miss you all!
mary z
