Wednesday 22 January

Post by Jules » Tue Jan 21, 2014 10:12 pm

Morning all

haven't been on for a couple of days, so I need to do some catching up :) Charley is staying with us as her car is in the garage, having a service and a leak looked at, so shes staying here so I can run her to work and back, DH is picking her car up today so she should be going home tonight :)

I went and had a lesson on my new sewing machine yesterday, just to explain the embroidery side, having neer owned an embroidery machine before I had no idea what/how to do with it, but I am raring to go now......so excited about all the things I can do, today is going to be a play day for me :)

I'm with Carole on the weightloss, I rejoined Slimming World after Chrstmas and am delighted to say that I lost 3.5 poounds this week :) I have decided that 2014 HAS to be my year for losing weight.....I've called it 2014:The Year I Beach the Whale LOL

Until I have read and caught up I will send you all love and prayers, sorry I can't be more specific, but the Good Lord above knows your needs and will be holding you all in his hands

What a great welcome from everyone! I already feel at home. Just need to warn everyone... I am a rambler and suffer from Excessive Punctuation Syndrome. I also tend to be a bit on the sarcastic irreverent side. If you can all live with that, I'm in!

Quilter7- I think I found a guild I would like to try in Irvine- Flying Geese, I think it's called. Just haven't motivated myself to get out of the house since the evenings are the only time I see my DH. We are newlyweds (December) and hanging out with him toots my whistle! I won't make it to R2C. We belong to a medieval reenactment group that is holding an event on Saturday. I will have to use Sunday to catch up on sleep.

KathysQuilts- I do not miss the snow at all... not one bit... not the ice, the shoveling, the scraping, the mittens, OR the heating bills! It has been in the 80s this week in SoCal and FABULOUS!

Jana- Love your name for your sewing room... I am just getting mine fixed up after moving. My Mom was here for the wedding and set my machine up so she could sew. She bought me a cutting mat and I put up bulletin boards and good lighting. It's a work in progress. I gave all but one small box of fabric away when I left NY. SIX black lawn and leaf bags full <cry>. I sent 15 boxes of household stuff via Greyhound, packed my car full and left. No room for fabric. It still saddens me to think about it but I have the rest of my life to gather scraps!

Womster- I am presently working on the QIAD Mystery Quilt. I will attempt to post a pic of my fabrics at the end f the post. Opened a photobucket account this morning. I am such a procrastinator. I need to stay motivated.

Izzy- GOATS! They are both adorable and yummy. Look forward to hearing more about your goatland adventures!

Tess- I am a slowcooker chick too. I start dinner most mornings before bed and wake up to dinner in the evening. Well, in theory, anyway. Sometimes I don't and just leave clues on the counter for when DH gets home... like cans, bags of pasta, etc...lol. He usually gets the hint and makes dinner. Later this morning I will throw some chicken, onions, and mushrooms in some alfredo sauce and see what I wake up to. Whatever it is, we will eat it over egg noodles.

Marilynsgrammy- I have three boys back in NY. They are 22, 24, and 27. I miss them dearly but they were all very supportive of my move out here and can hardly wait to visit. No grandchildren yet... though one is talking about it quite often.

TeresaK- perhaps I am just being thick but I don't understand the Monthly Lotto thing. Is there a sign up? I saw the post... maybe I wasn't all the way awake yet.

Jules- what type of machine did you buy? I am in the market for one in the next 6 months or so. I am debating getting a combo quilt/embroidery machine. I love your theme for the year. I, too, need to dump some of this blubber. BEACH THE WHALE!

Okay, enough for now. I warned you about the rambling... I will now attempt to post my first picture.

Good morning all!!!
I am exhausted so this will be quick. My apologies. The February Lotto Block is up an running. probably still might need a bit of tweeking so let me know if something sounds off. My assorted reds are in the wash for a quick rince with a small piece of white :) :) Couldn't find my color catchers my eyes were crossing.
Finished the Rocking Chair Armrests - took me 4 hours. Could be I kept stopping to look and see my fav tennis player, Nadal win the quarterfinals :) :)

Jules - Murray is playing NOW against Roger Federer!!!!!Hope you didn't miss it. Should be a great game. I so love watching the men better than the women. The semi's and the finals should be good though. All the top women are out!!! YEA!!!!! No more listening to Woooooooo's. SO irriating.

Chriss - A bit confused here ... Are we doing SP's every month or every other month. It will be the same as January. You make a block and send it with a FQ to your SP. If you are enjoying it as much as I believe everyone is that is perrrffectly OK with me BUT I need to know so I can start the thread ASAP. Feb is just around the corner and the names can go out on the first. I get back on the 27th.

OK that is it for me ... HAPPY DAY tomoroow and prayers for all those in the snow storms. HUGE HUGS

Good morning everyone.
I took the dogs out this morning and the clasp on the little one's leash fell in the snow. It froze. At least the snow is dry. That will make for easy shoveling and blowing. I was hoping the wind would blow it away during the night. A friend of mine is supposed to come over today. I have to wait to hear from her in case she isn't coming. She has to have a knee replaced so I am thinking she may stay home. She also has a bad case of Lyme disease and has to get infusions several times a week. I am hoping to get out to my studio today but am not sure if it will happen. I also have to go to my radiation treatment. Busy day. Have a wonderful day.

SoozG - I love your color choices for your next project. Can't wait to see the finished project.
Jules - after I finish my radiation I will be joining you on the weight loss journey.

-39C very cold. Shovelling wait till tomorrow -4c. Wook up by idiot neighbor stuck in rut with his 3 ton truck, the probe light blasting in my window, he was trying to get free. I'm worried for my garage. Commuters will surely report. He goes to court manages to weasel out of jail term, and continues his nonsense. Finds a job within weeks, while so many try for years and nothing. Luck of the Irish?

JULES imagine all the fun you'll have with your new embroidery machine.

SOOZG Love the dress fabric how will you use it in a block? Seems to gorgeous to cut it.. I'd probably make a dress out of it.

Heard on news US/MARITIMES east coast getting a blast of winter weather. Whiteout condition. Hope electricity holds on for your sewing machine. It's Pyjama day for me here, outside for my mail only!

Reading lots about facebook from library books. Funny, how everything technology comes with huge book of instructions. Even a digital camera has all this info I can't understand to read.

Good Morning Girls

Woke up to a fresh blanket of snow, but the sun isn't up yet, so I can really tell what the roads will look like. I think I heard the plow come by tho. NOT looking forward to the drive to work! I used to be able to check the traffic cameras online, but they changed something and now I can't see what the roads really look like!

Sooz... Welcome to the best quilting forum in the whole wide world. If you are sarcastic and irreverent, you'll fit right in! I bet your boys are wishing they had moved to CA with you today! Heck I wish I had moved to CA! I'm a born & bred Minnesotan but the older I get the more I hate Winter! How great you've mastered adding photo's here! Now we need to see a picture of YOU! If it's scraps you're needing... I have a TON I'd be happy to share!

Jules.. How fun to learn the embroidery part of your new machine. I'd love one too, but just know if I had one I'd go crazy buying thread and every body would have something embroidered. Right down to their underwear! One of my co-workers is doing Weight Watchers..I'm kind of following along with her unofficially... Would LOVE to drop a few pounds too..

Izzy... Wish my employer would call a snow day! I kind of laughed when the Fed shut down for 3-6 inches of snow... up here that's a "dusting". I could sure get a lot of sewing done if I could stay home today. My Dad used to love all the snow because it would mean good moist ground in the spring for the farmers!

Lois... TEN inches! OH YUK... Are you as ready for spring as I am! I'm sure tired of driving with white knuckles! This weekend will be my Bird House weekend!

Sharona... If you stop by.. I found the charm packs I was looking for ... but sorry I didn't find your camera. Was quite happy to find them as I ordered them from Miss. Quilt Co and they don't have any more.

Teresa... I printed out the directions for the Feb lotto block. think I might try one on old fabric before I do the real thing. Still need to get to the PO to mail the January ones! Next week I work late shift, so it's easier for me to get to PO.. can you hang in there until I can get to PO on Monday?

Suzette... With all the snow, might be a good idea for your friend to stay home today. I saw a bit online last night about all the traffic hassles around DC. How many radiation treatments will you have? I need to schedule my Mammo for sometime in Feb, just need to check out my work schedule for when I have a day off.

Well girls, I better run.. leave a little early for work to allow for road conditions. I have to say MN does a GREAT job at plowing, so sometimes I worry for nothing. Usually I take a freeway in, but sometimes the back roads are safer and a little slower for this old lady.

Wishing you all a most wonderful day and may you be covered in threads by the end of it.

Good Mmmmorning. it is -2 again but I got a text from Chrissy and it is actual temp -24 by her, just rolled out of bed at 830 went to bed at 1130 this is good.

I have lost 4 lbs. Jules I love your year I will beach the whale this year too. I need to lose 20 but go to the gym for my bones. that is important. I am hoping between the meds and weights I can keep from breaking something,

Working on the Christmas quilt and the house today it is too cold to go to the gym....Ken swims there and I workout so we will do the dreadmill today and wait for a warm up/ I go to the Dr tomorrow for my reg check up. hope that turns out ok/

Soozg, congrats on your marriage....love your choice of fabrics...it takes a lot of courage to move across the country. but it sounds like you will make friends at your guild.

Well need to comb my hairs and get coffee....Miss kitty is still curled up in the warm spot we left in the bed. As she gets older she likes to sleep more...she is 11 and I get very sad when she seems to be slowing down...

Prayers for you all...XXXOOO
