Re: January 21.... barely
Good morning Ladies.
Welcome SoozG. Always fun to have a new person join our little family.
I am here at work by myself right now. My co-worker had a doctor's appointment this morning. She is pregnant and today is the day she will find out the gender of the baby. She is very excited about it. I still don't know if I would want to know if it were me....back in my day you only found out the gender on the delivery table! LOL
My niece is pregnant, too. This is her third and she and her DH decided to be surprised. Of course, everyone keeps asking her what it is...she just says "it's a baby"! LOL She is due in a couple of weeks.
I got three more of my Birdhouse blocks fused (ran out of steam-a-seam) and one of those sewn down. I ordered some heat-n-bond off of Amazon and got it yesterday. I plan on drawing out the rest of my shapes today here at work and fusing them to fabric tonight. That way, I can bring them to work tomorrow and cut them all out. Then, I can fuse the rest of my blocks and get busy satin stiching!
Well, customers are starting to trickle in. Guess I should get off here and get busy. I hope you all stay safe and warm today. Take care and I will check back later.
Hugs,
Mel

Good morning!
SoozG – WELCOME! You will love it here. A move from coast to coast – my goodness. I so admire hospice workers. Let us know what you are working on!
Lois – I bet you are sick and tired of all these storms. Enjoy the birdhouse work.
Suzette – smart to change your work days. And now you get to sew – yay! Your monster truck show sounds like our stock show weather. Usually an arctic front comes in at the same time. Not this year, though.
Teresa – I’m sure someone can help you locate that video. Hope you were able to get some good sleep.
Scrapq – ironing – eugh! The only thing I iron is fabric. Amazing how a simple thing like making the bed starts the whole day off on a better note.
Izzy – sorry about the sinus crud and the sleet and the no school again. I agree with you on the wedding quilt. Hope you get to sew. Look at you, getting those pictures in the album! Love the goat poop comic.
Becca – happy laundry day! I saw something yesterday that said they wished their bank account filled up as fast as their laundry basket.
Velda – you gave great advice - it’s always best to be prepared in the winter with all the stuff you mentioned plus water and snacks in case you get stranded. Or better yet, just don’t go out!
Judi – glad y’all had fun. I know Sophia will be having a blast at your house. Hope your headache goes away.
Chriss – oh my goodness – it’s a good thing you went through an entire year of statements to find the problem. I’m impressed! Also impressed with the dinner you made. I love your parking spot story. Sea Chickens – too funny! Thanks for the bird house advice – you are correct.
Carole – glad you’re home! I hope the jerk isn’t up to his old tricks. I know you can do the weight loss! My DH has lost 70 pounds from walking and not eating as much. And he still eats a LOT – desserts and everything, but in moderation. You sure walked a LOT of steps! One of my oldest friends walks over 20,000 steps a DAY. I’m lucky to get in 4000. DH shoots for 10k a day. OOH – our recumbent bike is supposed to be delivered today – I forgot about that! Hopefully we can stick our peds on our socks or something like that.
Karlene – you are so kind to feed Fred – did he accept your chip offering? Good luck with the drywall project. I’d just have to cover my eyes and forget about that room until he was done. Hope it warms up for your car soon (well, for y’all as well!).
Cindyg – you are such an encourager – thank you. Maybe I’ll do as you say and find an easy project. It does look very relaxing – kind of like sewing down the binding by hand. We now sit and watch our garage door go down as we’ve come home to it being open a couple of times already. I love that pantry description – my DH does the same thing with the fridge. Only I say try calling its name and see if it comes to you. I thought the same thing about Maryz’s SIL. Is the puppy still at work? I have a bread machine and make French bread a LOT. With butter on it.
Redtop – having the crockpot going with a storm coming is a great combo. And the yeast bread – yummo! Happy laundering.
Sandy – have you seen any robins yet? I don’t know if we have them out here at the new place. I’m shivering just reading about your son out there plowing in all that cold. The inspector is supposed to be here today – we’ll see. DH decided on running a gas line to the garage and having a small, very efficient heater put in. All the people who came out to give bids said it was the most efficient way to get heat to both areas uniformly. CA-CHING.
DH is giving me the look – time to head into the city to go to the LQS and Costco. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona
Mel - sorry - I stomped all over your hair! I also love ordering from Amazon - I can't wait until they start delivering with drones. Maybe they'll assign me my own personal one since we order so much.

Good morning!
I am supposed to be down here in the Batt Cave posting our checkbook - I am behind and DH is growling about it - but what he doesn't know right now won't hurt! LOL
I finally got caught up on projects that I was doing for others - got the flight pants all hemmed for our neighbor and a pillowcase for a little boy up the street - now my time is my time and I don't feel pressured to get the other things done!
It is good to know that "global warming" is at work somewhere - I would gladly take 52 right now - we are up to a balmy 24! Funny how deceiving the sun is, all bright and shining, until you step out there! BURRRRRRR!
So not much going on here - I will build the shelves, didn't get to them yesterday, I have the "new" running, and will waltz with Mathilda through the upstairs, and may even run the dust cloth across the bookcases!
Do something fun today!
Hugs
Jana

Re: January 21.... barely
Good Very Late Morning......
Welcome SoozG!!!! This is a wonderful group!!! Tell us all you want about yourself. There are plenty of NY & CA quilters. I lived on Long Island for 41 years before I moved back home to Massachusetts last year.....love the snow!! When I moved I found a LQS & asked about quiltie things. I found a guild & hope to get involved there.
Thank you so much for being a Hospice nurse....they were wonderful to my sister. The 1st on here opens the thread!!
I'm late getting on today....I must have turned off the alarm & rolled over. Then the computer froze again. My girls say get a lap top!
The freeze is here at 15' & 6" to 10" of more snow tonight. Someone asked if I have someone to help shovel me out. When my neighbors are in Fla I shovel there are 2 other neighbors but I don't know them. I've been shoveling while they are snow blowing & they don't offer & I'm not likely to ask. But I do like shoveling.
I finished the 2 pillows so on to a new project today.
Lois.....I'm happy you have driving help. Happy sewing.
Suzette.....where will we end up if our government can run in the snow even the PO works in the snow.
Teresa......hope your feeling better after a nights sleep.
Scrap48.....what are you working on. I'll make my bed after this post.
Izzy....loved the photos of the baby goats.....so cute!
Becca....rush through that laundry so you can sew.
Velda.....happy quilting!!
Judi.....I know you have fun baking bread with Sophia.
Chriss.....hope you're having sunshine with your 60's.
Carole....I'm with you. Monday I'm starting WW. This weight issue has to be dealt with it make me miserable. I'll be praying for you.
I must get going.....
Love & Prayers to all in need.
PS....someone I know lost her son in a hit & run in Maryland a few days ago. He was a freshman at UM. They need our prayers.

Re: January 21.... barely
Good afternoon!
I’m late. DH didn’t go to coffee. We went to town for errands, his eye appointment (while waiting for him, I had my glasses adjusted), a stop at my sister’s to take muslin and batting for her upholstery project, delivery to the recycle facility, then to the rental… We need to make some repairs to the unit that failed the HUD inspection. They have approved the exact thing in the past, but they are having a funding crunch and nit-picking now. It was to city code but not to HUD. We also have some other items to do including pretty much re-doing the bathroom—never a dull moment with the rentals.
My friend’s son is in the hospital with aspiration pneumonia. I need to look it up. She is staying at the hospital with him. With his disabilities, he does not understand things that are happening to him and gets agitated easily.
SoozG—Welcome! My late DH spent several months on hospice, and I really appreciated the nurses. I met my good friend when she was one of the home health ladies with hospice. My DD is office manager for a hospice care company. You will enjoy being a part of this group!
You East Coasters are getting slammed with a storm again. We are just too cold—11 this morning with a -1 wind temperature. Please, let me go to bed and wake me when it’s 70 degrees! The snow is beautiful… if you don’t have to be out in it and the dogs aren’t tracking mud and snow inside…
Cindy—You are the resident chain yanker! Too funny!!! That’s how I put my batting together, too.
Carole—I’m with you on the weight loss. My entire life has been a diet. I was called Butterball when I was a child. It never got any better… chubby, husky, statuesque, portly, fluffy, plump… sigh! BEST wishes to you! I want to get a pedometer. Odie and I walked out to where DH was cutting brush yesterday for his quail habitat. I helped him load the firewood into the trailer then unload it once he got it back to the house. This time of year, I want to eat and hibernate like an old bear.
While DH is cutting boards for the new floor at the rental, I’m going to sneak into my sewing room and sew some more of the birdhouse block outlines. I’m down to the last color of the applique thread and have 10 more blocks to finish. Then I’ll be doing the handwork—embroidering the chick feet and eyes. I’m starting to see the end!
Sorry I’m not chatting with everyone… off to spend time with Tippy and thread… Enjoy today!

Good afternoon.
According to the weather on the news we are getting 1" of snow an hour. Plus tomorrow the temps are supposed to be 15 for the high. People are now going home from work and slipping and sliding. Fender bender accidents. I spent a few hours in my studio but would have stayed longer. I went out in my slippers and the snow was a little deep when I looked. My slippers have a good sole on them but the snow was a little deep. Hopefully, tomorrow my friend can get out and come up. I met her when I used to babysit her boys and we have stayed in touch ever since. She wants to see my studio and she has some fabric for me. Can't wait.

Sooz - Welcome to Southern California! (Wish you would have brought some precipitation with you.) You are just in time to go to Road to California in Ontario this week. I will be taking a bus on Saturday. There are some great quilt shops and guilds in Orange County. You will find one soon I am sure. Here is the link to Road to California.

Good evening...Had a great day with Sophia....we picked her up from preschool and came home had a little lunch and were watching TV Was going to bake bread but sis came in and we went to IKEA..I bought some LED lightbulbs for the sewing room and somw towels and then we came back here and colored pictures and watch cartoons (todays cartoons are not very funny ) Sophia wanted to color a Christmas tree for her "Pa" (that is grampa...)took her home and then I did 29 minutes on the dreadmill...tomoorow might not go to the gym again it is going to be -2 in the morning....Ken hates to go out and swim when it is that cold....so I might do the dreadmill again tomorrow. we are back in the deep freeze'''have a good night...
Carole If you have an IPHONE there is am app called My Fitness Pal...you track your diet and excersize on it....we are all using it and it is greart way to "POLICE" yourself////I know you can do it////
Don't get discouraged
I didn't use the embroidery on the 12th block///it was too confusing and I just did it the old fashioned way too...If you want the embroidery program I can send it to you. but I think the old fashioned way is much nicer....less work too.
