Re: Freezing Tuesday, January 7th
Good morning!
I must be the warm weather one - we are up to 18! LOL
Last night I got a great surprise from DH. We had a traipse of stores, ended up at Lowes and he bought me my new washer and dryer set - in red too! After he got all the budget re-worked, he knew that we were fine to spend the money. They will be delivered on Friday and Matt can hook up the dryer - they won't because it's gas.
I try to fill up my tank of gas at a half too - Sarah on the other hand has run out twice with me in the car -thank goodness for cellphones and DH's at home!
We took Ethan down and got his haircut yesterday. This was the first time! He was a little angel - just sat still and never wiggled or cried. He looks adorable. Even remembered to say thank you for the lollipop when it was all over.
Well I am heading down to the Batt cave to sew - stay warm - as my grandmother would always say, this too shall pass!
Hugs
Jana

Re: Freezing Tuesday, January 7th
Good morning all,
Hope everyone is warm and toasty. I'm here at work, as usual. Sure hope my DH buys the winning lottery ticket this week. He keeps picking the wrong one! LOL
Karlene, that pic was too cute...made me laugh out loud! That would keep Scottie busy for a while.
Well, can't stay and chat...just wanted to pop in and say hello.
Maryz, we'll miss you while you are gone. I always feel unsettled when you are "on the road"! LOL. Hope you all have a safe and fun trip.
Back to the salt mines for me...have a great day.
Hugs,
Mel

On our way to Palm Springs for a week. We are traveling with friends to a FMCS Rally. Should be lots of fun. Than we will stop in Quartzite to meet up sometime during the week of the 18th with Mary and Bill.
MaryQ So glad you finally got a date from your roommate. Now to make her keep it.
Well I am off for a bit.

Good morning! Hopefully all of you that are now in the deep freeze won’t be there terribly long. We are now at 19 and going for almost 40 degrees today—Heat Wave!!! The bitter cold and wind are horrible for the few days they are in your area—stay in and stay safe and wait for the warming in a few days.
I’m going to try to hand quilt some more today. I’m beginning to get a concept of my chicken coop design for the bird house swap.
Karlene—the cone of happiness is too cute! Since Odie has to wear a harness in town after he slipped his collar twice, we call it his vest of shame. Guess I should attach a couple of toys to it and call it his vest of happiness… it is for me since I don’t have to chase him six blocks. My niece does the photo thing with Walgreen’s, and my BIL picks them up and takes them to Mom.
Sorry I’m not here long… was late getting here, and I need to get brunch fixed. Just wanted to let you in the Deep Freeze know… “This, too, shall pass.”
Don't the weather reporters look stupid out in the cold trying to one up each other on "How cold is it?"

We are having a heat wave in central Illinois its zero. I have almost three quarters of my drive way shoveled out. But I am taking care of myself. That's a plus. Wood burner loaded warm as toast in house.
I just finished block three of sylvia's wedding quilt. I have to finish a mystery quilt for the guild all paper pieced. I hope all of you are keeping warm . KATHY

Re: Freezing Tuesday, January 7th
Good afternoon from warm, sunny, SW Pa....And if you believe that, I have some property............But, we do have lots of sun and it's up to about 6....As long as the furnace keeps chugging away, we're ok....
It's a quiet day in our household....Jim has gone back upstairs and is trying to catch a nap....He had a very, very long day, yesterday...They started at 9:00 and he finally got home about 4:30...He said, he stopped counting at 32 stiches so you know he's hurting....
Cindg, MOHs treatment/surgery is when they cut, take a sample to the lab and if they feel they've gotten it all, stitch it up...If not clean they repeat cutting etc. until satisfied they've gotten all the cancer...For Jim, they had to repeat 4 times.....He's had to have this treatment a few different times and also has had skin grafting done on the side of his face but you'd never know...He has no incision marks...Regis is darn good with the needle...He'd make a terrific quilter...........
And then I talked to Kathy last night and she, too, had been to the doctor about a mark on her hand...They did a biopsy and will take it from there....When he heard the family history, he was a little concerned........Love the Irish, hate the skin!
Maryz, along with Jim, I thought of Scottie all day, yesterday...I'm just glad Jim didn't come home wearing a cone....But, it is amazing how quickly our furbabies do recover from their surgeries...Are you excited about traveling?...I see you're meeting up with Carol..That should be great...
Karlene, Gas up the buggy and pick me up....We can be in Florida by tomorrow, although when I called my friend last night, she said it was only getting into the 50s today....
Chriss, I like the idea of "dial a prayer" number....Good advice...Many, many times I've been running on what I thought might be fumes but Jim always says, after the beep, we can still go 25 miles...I don't "do" gas so I trust Jim...But, he'll be in deep dodo if our "Silver Bullet" runs dry.....
Well, time for me to find the kitchen and start dinner....Since he was such a good boy yesterday, I'm making stuffed chicken with all the extras..................
You all have a great day, stay warm, stay safe............

Re: Freezing Tuesday, January 7th
Scrapppy binding is a great idea...why didn't I think of that. Well hell hasn't froze over yet but our river has,,,this is the first time it has frozen since we lived here,,,,it isn't solid but it is covered with ice and making crackly noises,,,,Ken went down and took some pictures,,,me I stay in....
I have started the 4 Christmas quilts I am making for next Christmas....there are hundreds of little pieces for the applique blocks...and I can make the whole 4 quilts from my stash...I will have to order backing(108) for one of them but have all the rest...I will buy some batting this summer as we found a dealer about an hour and a half ride from here,,,,and it is inexpensive enough to warrent the ride..so we will make a road trip...ken has stayed out of my sewing room all day and I got a lot done....my back is tired and that is why I am sitting for a few,,,,,then I need to go get some uglies done happy frosty day

the sewing has come to an end. Back to work tomorrow. I did finish a quilt by machine quilting and binding today as well as my 50 blocks left. Also made a new block and played with machine. All in all I have mystery quilt clues done and 6 lap quilts made. I am proud of myself in what I got done in 2 weeks. Yippee!! now back to work. YUK.
God bless and happy thoughts until tomorrow:)
